There have been, over the years, some epic game one beat downs. The Lakers could still rally to win the series, but I think Kobe was honest and in FU mode at the same time. There is no way. None. yeah that’s absurd. I had no problem pointing out where I thought Kobe stacked up with Jordan (better outside shooter, more range, and I thought just as good of a defender…pippen better than both). I also thought Kobe did it with less athleticism so his skill level and footwork was right up there. Jordan went up against handchecks, but less athletic defenders.

But Jordan was clearly the best (better passer/rebounder/higher IQ). Just think Kobe is as close as we’ll get to Jordan at that position.

8-12 seems fair. Obviously tough to compare the eras. The Magic/Kobe debate is actually a pretty fascinating one.

Believe it or not, even the Jordan Bulls got worked on occasion, and they were one of the greatest teams ever. Nobody goes 4-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-0. Not sure who created this mythology that the best teams just go ballz deep every game.
