Will Doug Collins Put Andre Iguodala on Rajon Rondo?
Rajon Rondo recorded his 8th career triple double (13 points, 17 assists, 12 rebounds) in Boston’s come-from-behind 92-91 win Saturday night in game one of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Rondo was unstoppable in the 4th quarter against 2nd-year Philly guard Evan Turner, tallying six points, five assists, four rebounds.
While Turner is a good defender, Iguodala is one of the league’s best. He harassed Paul Pierce into a 3-for-11 night in game one, but Rondo and Kevin Garnett (29 points, 11 rebounds) took over late. Perhaps the move is to put Turner on Pierce, and Iguodala on Rondo?
Next question: How to slow Kevin Garnett, who is averaging a double-double through eight playoff games so far? Spencer Hawes had a nice game one (15 points, eight rebounds), as did Lavoy Allen (12 points), but the best situation would probably be to push tempo so the soon-to-be 36-year-old is gassed in the 4th.
Boston is favored by 4.5.

The NBA is more about team coverages than individual matchups. I’m always confused why you seem to obsess over it so much. I guess it’s an easy observation to make and in turn an easy talking point/post. That being said, Turner on Pierce would be a severe strength mismatch.

Great pass by Rondo for the oop. Sox and Celts looking good.

Avery Bradley hurt shoulder. Hopefully it is not bad.

Just had to google who Ryan Hollins is. Nice play with taking that charge but also agree with announers, where was Iguodala going to go anyways.

Well he couldn’t even stay on the Cavs roster, if that tells ya anything.

The guy that Cavs cut? Last year he had one enormous game against the Heat that had him trending on twitter and “who is ryan hollins” google trending. But he sucks. He averages a shockingly low amount of rebounds per minutes played. And its been his whole career.

Shoppach and Nava now have a combined more HR (2) then Pujols (1). My fantasy team is still in last and it seems like he may not get out of this.

Avery Bradley trying to come back for the 4th Q. Hope he does.

Kelly Shoppach in one game usually has more offensive production than Salty does in a week

So…Pietrus and Daniels and Pavlovic cant get floor time but the offensive black holes of Hollins and Stiemsma are on the floor? Yikes..cmon Doc
May 14th, 2012 at 8:52 PM
What a shot by Pietrus. Luck but take it.
May 14th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
The Peters thing is almost tragic, sounds like it should be out of the Browns playbook.
NFL.com story said he was on a Roll-A-Bout – and I checked their web site – this is the main product I saw, says it can handle up to 500 lbs.

May 14th, 2012 at 9:03 PM

Nice play buy Turner.

I just can’t respect the 76ers. Every time they do something good, it just seems ridiculously lucky to me.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:21 PM
Rondo is such an idiot
May 14th, 2012 at 9:25 PM
What the fuck?
May 14th, 2012 at 9:26 PM
what a fucking joke of a call. you can’t make that call for the FIRST TIME AT THAT POINT IN THE GAME.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:26 PM
That was cheap…
Doc..you’d kill to have Rondo dishing to LBJ and Wade. Heat would actually be unstoppable.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:28 PM
Cant be too disappointed with the split the way the teams played each game. They’ll probably split 3 and 4 in philly
May 14th, 2012 at 9:29 PM
Wow. I’ll be the first person to call KG a dirty cheating bitch, but thats some weak sauce calling a moving screen at that spot.
After watching both games its entirely possible both these teams suck.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:31 PM
That is why you foul early to extend the game not just let 10 seconds run off the clock before you start.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
Very True I was just talking about the foul 10 seconds into it. They almost pulled it out if they would of had more time who knows
May 14th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
Oh, i agree on that. rondo should have fouled immediately.
As big of a Celtics honk as I am, i do admit that KG sets a lot of moving screens. however, the ref is a fucker for not calling it until the last seconds
May 14th, 2012 at 9:39 PM
I feel just about every screen he sets when he pushes with his arms should be a foul but if it hasn’t been called in the first 47 minutes then it should never be called in the last one.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:43 PM
It was nice to see the refs ignore a Sixers flop on that inbound play which resulted in the 5 second call on Turner.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
Jon Lester pitches a complete game, giving up only one run. Best start by a Sox pitcher in a long time. Thanks Mariners!

Collins has to be the best coach in the NBA. How he’s produced five playoff wins (including two on the road) with that roster is beyond me.
