Ohh, shes from a teeny bopper CW show. Never change, TBL.

In all fairness he thought it was on Minute To Win It-Street Version.
May 14th, 2012 at 8:19 AM
Never change TBL. Thankfully it will be a shortened final season. My guess is that TBL will have a week of sponsored posts celebrating the perceived greatness of the show.
May 14th, 2012 at 8:23 AM
And from Labor Day to Thanksgiving it will be pushed to 10am, from Thanksgiving to Christmas 11am and after Noonish, maybe 1pm….

Some of this depends on what you are going to school for.
From the article:
I don’t understand how she could NOT have known that when she signed on. I mean, if you can’t afford a certain school, you probably shouldn’t go there.

May 14th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
What the Phillies received for Scott Rolen was among the worst piles of shit. Although the Schilling trade was much much worse.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
Articles like those frustrate me. Of all the kids interviewed, you had one who didn’t declare a major until 3 years in (and they never said what it was), a 3-year dropout, and a marketing major from a liberal arts school in Northern Ohio. Morons all of them.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Parents are ignorant and don’t know it, either, unless they went through it themselves and multiplied by 100 to match today’s insane fees.

So no woman has ever looked good in dressy shorts. Shorts are only sexy in a lounging or athletic context… its NOT a bottom for a pant suit or worse still the bottom half of a one piece outfit. I understand its like mini skirt but more user friendly but if chics cared about user friendliness in the first place heels wouldn’t exist so…

Interesting. As the Special TBL Correspondent for Events Such as This, I wonder why there are this many resources being used for a member of the rank and file, and if they are volunteering their time or on the books? It’s also interesting that CNN’s headline for it refers to it as a “Manhunt”.

May 14th, 2012 at 9:13 AM
These articles annoy me too, because, I do believe the value proposition of certain undergraduate degrees is worth questioning. The examples the article trots out seem more like people who made bad or naive decisions.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
That guy set off in the hills to kill himself. FBI agents (and a lot of fed employees) will get more attention for various security reasons if they go missing. I’d also assume some guys are volunteering.

better you than me dude… you couldn’t pay me enough money to go to Mexico.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
it speaks to a larger concern about the lack of education among high school students regarding money management.
I’ll be honest, i didn’t realize how much i was going to be paying in student loans until 6 weeks before i graduated when Sallie Mae held education courses on my campus, only open to graduating seniors.
I was lucky, I went to an affordable school, but that seems completely backwards to hold that kind of information session after you’ve already accrued that debt and not before.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
No. 56 for LSU (the DT…not sure of his name) is going to be a top-5 pick when he leaves in 2 years. That kid is a fucking manchild. Their huge RB (Hilliard) tore UGA up in the 2nd half, too. LSU is so fucking loaded. If their pervy QB can keep his hands to himself and not throw picks, I don’t see how they aren’t playing for the natty this year.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
whatever, the Cardinals traded the Phils Bud Smith, who once pitched a no-hitter and was the last Cardinal to wear #51, AND Enrico Palazzo. oh wait, that was Placido Pilanco, nevermind.
you’re right, the Cardinals fucked them on that trade.

“college is too damn expensive”
Perhaps more people should stick to in-state schools. Purdue an Indiana have some great programs and are very affordable for Indiana residents.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
College degree story:
So yesterday, I was visiting my mom. My sister (an art professor with a MFA) was there, and she was updating a photo frame for my mom, taking an old one out, inserting a new photo. I say to my sister, “That college degree is finally paying off I see”.
If looks could kill…
May 14th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
I’m beginning to worry that the Hogs won’t have enough eligible players for the last game of the year against LSU if they don’t quit being so stealy all the fucking time.
seriously, you have to be at least mildly retarded to steal a bunch of text books and try to sell them back.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:23 AM

Bigger the hoops, bigger the whore
May 14th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Well, to be fair, Polanco was just an OK player the first time the Phillies had him. And actually, he was jettisoned because the Phillies had an albatross at 3B (David Fucking Bell) and they wanted to bring up this up and coming 2B named Chase Utley. So, it didn’t really work out for Polanco in Philly the first time.
And really, Polanco wasn’t considered an all-star caliber player until he went to the AL.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Agree. Ga Tech and UGA are both great schools (Ga Tech is a badass school if you want to be an engineer). Stay in state and get a good education. Of course there are many kids (and many parents) who think they need to go to the prestigious school, no matter the cost.

I know quite a few people who went to the school mentioned in the opening paragraph, Ohio Northern. Some are engineers, some attorneys, and a few teachers. I will never understand why someone would go to an over-priced, over-rated liberal arts school, pay $45k a year, and then wonder why they’re broke when they become a rural school teacher making $35k.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
college is too damn expensive
I will say that I have huge loans from law school, and when I applied 7 years ago I thought the loans were no big deal because I would be making bank because thats what happened when you graduated law school. Nobody in my family had ever gone to law school so I knew little about the field. Its my fault for not researching enough for myself, but its funny how in hindsight we all think these 18-22 year olds are idiots for not knowing basic things, but we were all young and stupid once. Needless to say, paying loans for a law degree when you work in finance sucks a fat one each month.

Marquel Wade (the guy who made the cheap shot in the Vandy game last year) who was going to be a starter is the biggest one. Mardrecas Humphrey who was going to get some play at WR as well, and Andrew Peterson, a backup TE. stealing textbooks and other items from dorm rooms and selling it back. geniuses for sure.

“college is too damn expensive”
In-state tuition at state schools are the best ticket.
The Hope Scholly is even better.
Before he made his decision, I did a spreadsheet for my kid:
Out-of-state at my alma mater vs in-state at a state college.
Owe $140K or $20K, you choose – it’s your debt not mine. He chose wisely.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
My parents clearly explained the difference in cost between boring fancy private school and awesome large state school and I chose wisely. Fuck stupid people.
I lived in Ohio for like 7 years and I’ve never heard of Ohio Northern. At the end of the day you really just want a school that someone looking at a resume has heard of, no one cares how expensive it was.
May 14th, 2012 at 9:39 AM

My girlfriend and I are having quite a few discussions about taking care of her loans. She’s got over 300k in loans, and if she goes private practice next year, the hiring practices will typically take care of it. If she goes the educational route, it’s on her. Of course she wants to start in the educational realm…

It is the fairest way of determining a champion, but for those who don’t know, they also have tournaments that are one and done (a la playoffs) within the season both for their own domestic leagues and for Europe as a whole.

Playoffs is great for TV but not necessarily the most accurate way to decide the best team in the league. This is why the league title winner is always more reflective of the best team than the winner of the FA cup.

You should have heard of ONU. It’s not that much of a mystery.
Agreed that liberal arts schools are not for the “short of cash” family. I also know that it is almost impossible to pay full freight at a liberal arts college. Kids with good grades, who parents make little, will almost go to school for free with a little research and elbow grease.

Did you go to Auburn? If so, someone should be kicked in the nuts for choosing Auburn and that much debt. Surely Auburn isn’t that expensive, right?
Auburn ends up being about 10K per semester out of state, but I exaggerated to make the point. My kid didn’t have much summer job time b/c he was always working out prepping for football/baseball. When the knee went, the schollies went with it, so he’ll owe every penny (tuition+room).
If you’re considering certain engineering curriculum, vet school, pharma school, forestry, ag – Auburn’s a legit choice. If you’re going for biz school or lib arts, go somewhere else. My wife has a journalism degree from Auburn and owed more than I did (engineering) – that’s just dumb.
BTW – my son was not allowed to attend uga, although it’s in the mix for Grad school and Med school (if they ever get it).

No doubt – he likes the Athens vibe. Not sure how, but he must been thrown into the douche bag vortex that exists on every campus.
On a funnier note … his girlfriend could not qualify for any school she applied to – uga, Auburn, GA Southern, others. Except …. wait for it …
Bama.
So she went, made deans list both semesters and got the hell out. She hated it.

Using an obscure liberal arts school on your resume is the best way to fake a resume.
I always add a PHD.

There are tons of frat douches for sure, but they are still outnumbered by a almost 10-1.
It really is.

Isn’t GT something like the #7 public university in the nation (and rising)? That’s pretty amazing in-state value. I know Husker already mentioned GT in the context of engineering, but it’s also really good for more than just engineering (management, sciences, etc). Of course, engineering is still where it’s at. The ISyE program is fucking incredible along with pretty much every other engineering discipline.

Mantis, what’s doing for the pre-game festivities? I replied to St. Bear that I can’t make the game, but would want to engage in some festivities beforehand. I would want to be wherever we go before 2:30 as I want to watch Bayern beat Chelsea into submission in the CL.
May 14th, 2012 at 10:17 AM
It may be higher than 7th. Ga Tech is a fantastic school. What they can’t do on the football field they more than make up for in the academic side as well as the Asian-exchange program.

I was hoping to get down to the stadium parking lots around 3 to start grilling and what not. You can’t the make the game now? Boo

I have a friend with two kids at GT – one lives on, the other off-campus. They both carry firearms in their cars and have carry-conceal permits.
But other that, it’s a great school.

Link? Some industrious fellow should make that into a t-shirt.
Loved the crowd reaction shots in the City game, they went from sobbing to a different kind of sobbing in injury time.

She’s in a field where the debt really isn’t an issue, but it sucks paying on it now when her current pay averages out to about 12 bucks an hour for the last 6 years she’s spent as a surgeon. Her fellowship’s call schedule prevents her from cashing in on moonlighting.

As someone that just graduated from Tech and has lived on campus for multiple years and off campus in the city for many summers and since I graduated, I can’t stress enough how fucking unnecessary this is. Campus is completely safe unless you’re a fucking idiot.

May 14th, 2012 at 10:29 AM
Nice. I can’t argue with this except to say that we’re “only” 20% Asian. I see that as a good thing for the competitiveness of the school, though.

Even my alma mater is about 17% Asian. Based on Husker’s comments I was expecting a lot higher.

Wait, they are allowed to bring their guns ON CAMPUS?

The Asians, the male to female ratio, and football are what those “Dawgs” like to give us shit about. The only one that has any real merit is football.

Whoa whoa…the fact that most of the Asians are fugly doesn’t help. Then you have that dude who was a terrorist. That doesn’t bode well, either. And yeah, when you’re used to a 60-40 girl:guy ratio that includes good looking ladies on the reg, Tech’s campus looks more like an Indonesian prison at times than a school.
