No idea who the NHL even wants to see win this series. Not like the Kings have much better commercial success than Phoenix. I guess a Rangers-Kings final is the best we can hope for from a hockey perspective.

I wanted Caps-Flyers. Lost out on both. Washington played balls out. I’m thinking about placing a bet on New Jersey after it took 7 games for the Rangers to dispatch both Ottawa and Washington. They do not look impressive save for Mr. GQ in net.

Hell of a win by the Rangers Saturday night.
Holtby’s body of work during the playoffs was outstanding. Caps probably should have won the series if not for stupid penalties at the worse possible time and their inability to control the puck in the zone. So frustrating to watch that last couple minutes and Holtby not able to leave the net.

That was a disaster. The Caps are lucky to have gotten where they did based on Dale Hunter’s hairbrained strategies. Game 5 cost them that series and that was on the players though. Can’t commit that penalty there and then give up the two PPGs.
Rangers will now face a team that plays a system that will suffocate their forecheck, has a goaltender that is excellent at negating a dump and chase strategy and has significantly more firepower offensively than what they have faced already in the playoffs. It’s also a team that isn’t afraid to be physical.
