Goodbye TV Sports Ratings Twitter Feed, We Hardly Knew Ye
The TV Sports Ratings twitter feed was brilliant and rankled PR staffs at all the major networks. Anonymously run, the feed would reveal TV sports ratings without the spin you get from the mainstream media and with relevant context. The twitter feed had the feel of blogs back in their heady, often ribald, nascent days (2006?). The twitter feed often feuded with the PR flacks at Fox, especially during the World Series when the network tried to pump up ratings that looked good on paper … until you stepped back and looked at the big picture.
Over the weekend, the twitter feed mysteriously vanished. Before bolting, whoever ran the feed gave this quote via direct message to John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal: “Not worth the bother to me. Like I said, I gain nothing from this personally or professionally.”
As everyone eventually learns, you can only stay anonymous for so long before making the decision to reveal yourself, or let someone do it for you. That being said … go watch the end of the Usual Suspects. Sorry, it’s not embeddable.

And Mr. TV Sports Ratings … if you’re out there, you know where to find us.
Sunday nights on his couch watching Gossip Girls.
I’m never fully got into Twitter, but this would be one I would check in on had I’d known it existed. I’m one of the few here that likes ratings talk.
