West Virginia Football Players Arrested for Stealing Gatorade and Snacks from Sheetz
Florida point guard Erving Walker was a lock to win the award for “Most Pathetic College Athlete Arrest” in 2012 for stealing a $3 taco in March. Except two starters on the West Virginia football team – junior Darwin Cook and senior Terrence Garvin – got some late-night munchies and may have topped Walker:
Police say surveillance footage shows Garvin take a plastic Sheetz bag from behind the counter then Cook allegedly took three bottles of Gatorade and two bags of Doritos. Garvin can be seen swiping a couple of bags of pretzels. The two placed the items in the bag and left the store without paying.
Gatorade, Doritos and pretzels. Was it worth it, guys?
April was a rough month for WVU coach Dana Holgorsen. His 3rd string QB got a DUI, and now two starters got popped for stupidity. The Mountaineers have enough talent to loiter in the Top 20 much of the season, but can Holgorsen keep his players out of jail? [Metro News via Clay Travis]

Sheetz are those energy strips right? Anyone ever try em?
May 10th, 2012 at 10:44 AM
I’m going to guess that if the 3rd string QB went to jail for the rest of his life, Uncle Dana wouldn’t even notice.
May 10th, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Now I have a craving for a Sheetz pretzel melt
May 10th, 2012 at 10:48 AM
MTO’s rock — GREAT drunken food. Sheetz has a criminally underrated meatball sub.

May 10th, 2012 at 11:02 AM
Oh, Sheetz is a sub shop?
Sheetz is a gas station/convience store that has gradually morphed into a place where you can get decent meals. They have this thing called “MTO” (made to order) — has the touch screen where you can make all kinds of goodies. I won’t say they were the first to have the touch screen thing, but it was the first that I saw.

Love and miss the Harry Tweeter. I worked there graveyard shift stocking ym 2nd year of grad school. You know who else makes awesome subs as a grocery store is Publix.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:17 AM
I’m not going to lie, I’m not afraid to hit up Subway. All of the criticism is justified, but I can get a sub there for 20-30% cheaper than the local deli.

if money’s the issue, im still not going to subway. id rather eat a couple mcdoubles than the crap they call food there. even the one thing i find palatable there, the meatball sub, is a chore to eat since every belch for the next 48 hours will taste exactly like that sub.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:21 AM
I’m with Spence. Subway and Quizno’s fucking suck.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:21 AM
I worked at the one at exit 23 all through high school and my first summer home from college, then I worked the graveyard shift at the one in Boone as a cashier. I made it one night and quit once I realized how much drinking I would be missing out on.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:22 AM
If I could agree with this statement more than 100%, I would.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:22 AM
No. JMac just got an apple there once and thought it was better than the orange he got at Sheetz.
I actually made it a point to stop at Sheetz for breakfast on the way back from Pittsburgh this weekend. As far as gas stations go, it’s fairly reliable and creates less self-loathing for eating there.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Schlotzsky’s sandwiches are too dry. Whoever said Pot Belly earlier, that’s my sandwich place of choice right now.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:23 AM
Actually a really good company to work for. At some of their stores their beer selection is excellent, Morocroft one across from SouthPark mainly.

Other notes from Pittsburgh.
1) everyone smokes and almost everyone is fucking retarded. there’s no such thing as crossing the street when you have a green light. you just fucking jump in the middle of the street and force everyone to stop.
2) so unsurprisingly, no one can drive, and in a city with old narrow streets and undefined lanes, it’s almost comical. by comparison, I now no longer hate Nashville drivers nearly as much.
3) PNC park still is awesome… the Pirates still suck.
4) I’ve never listened to ‘real’ sports talk radio before I guess. I got through about 15 seconds of some idiot making fun of Kenyan names (re: the marathon) and had to switch. No wonder everyone hates these guys, but the surprise is that anyone actually listens enough to complain about them.
5) Prantl’s burnt almond torte is still just as good as advertised, which is nice since Jerome Bettis Grill is pretty crappy (heart attack on a plate, but with no quality) and overpriced.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:26 AM
Damnit! Foiled again!
Tiger, Rickie, and Mahan go -3 combined on 17 and then go +4 combined on 18. Good work gentlemen.

No doubt. I got profit sharing as a seventeen year old kid, can’t really beat that. My dad is retired and works for one as a dairy stocker two days a week just to get free dental insurance.
The Morcroft one is really really nice (my mom used to work in the same shopping center so I’d go there a lot). The beer selection at most of them are better than any of the other grocery stores in Charlotte. Still can’t beat the Total Wine though. Or Brawley’s Beverage.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:27 AM
Agree with mole om quiznos..never liked their subs either.
Back in college, there was this small village grocery store where you could get a 2 foot sub for 7 bucks. It was perfect for the weekend where you could eat half one day and save the rest for a lazy saturday.

It is actually quite a bland sandwich, the key is getting the right kind of meat and being high as a motherfucker. I’ve only been there five times in my life I think.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:34 AM
Anyone ever been to a Penn Station subs

With these memes I’ve missed out on, I feel like I started a Charlie Kaufman movie in the middle.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:34 AM
I am so glad I live three minutes from a Wegmans. Their sushi is so much better than Whole Foods and Trader Joes.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:35 AM
Also yes on the pizza.
You jerked off on the pizza? That is startlingly mean and funny at the same time.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:35 AM
Thank you for the clarification.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:35 AM
I had a different lunch planned entirely but this sub talk is steering me toward the local deli in town.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
I think we agree on food. I like cole slaw on sandwiches, but don’t understand fries. As for Jersey Mike’s, their cold cuts tasted like watery pepper, and I refuse to go back.
Though if you are in Nashville sometime and wanted to try again, there is a Primanti brothers rip-off by some Pittsburgh people called “Pirhana’s” that is equally mediocre.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
Ive never been to a whole foods or trader joes but i have a feeling i would still prefer wegmans over them.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
I’m lucky to make it to an active thread these days… not repeating comments is asking a lot right now.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:37 AM
Peer, which type of sandwich did you have there? Primanti sandwiches are the tits
I think it had cole slaw on it. Maybe corned beef? Hell its been a while, but it was over-rated.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:38 AM
Well they all have slaw on it. I always preferred the roast beef one at primantis
May 10th, 2012 at 11:38 AM

I’ll have to try it. I’m going to Edley’s BBQ on 12th tonight. Ever had it?
May 10th, 2012 at 11:38 AM
The problem is their coleslaw and fries are both somewhat flavorless. If you did it with coleslaw from like the Dinosaur BBQ and fries from … almost anywhere else, it would be awesome.
Oh god Wegmans is still so much better. Trader Joe’s is great but it’s not like any other grocery stores, it’s all just one kind of each item. It’s basically commun*sm in grocer form.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:39 AM
AP, it had fries on it too. It just seemed bland. Not horrible. And they didn’t have sweet tea; a crime that should be punishable by death
May 10th, 2012 at 11:39 AM
A man must have a code.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Whole Foods has really good pizza.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:40 AM
i love trader joes in my office…makes lunch at work super easy.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:40 AM
I just heard of it actually, but hear good things. Gonna check it out next week I think.
/didn’t realize you were actually in Nashville, cool
May 10th, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Sweet tea can go suck balls
May 10th, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Whole Foods has really good pizza.
Central Market does too. Though Central Market doesn’t exist outside of Texas and Arkansas (I think). So you guys are missing out.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:41 AM
And you follow it up with a GoT reference. Bravo, sir.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:41 AM
c-stores have had an image problem foodwise they have been working hard to overcome vecause foodservice is so profitable if done right. they need to replace declining cigarette profits.
sheetz, wawa, casey’s, rutter’s, stripes in texas…all have nailed it
May 10th, 2012 at 11:42 AM
didn’t realize you were actually in Nashville, cool
30-35 min away. Trying to get closer
May 10th, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Half of the stuff I get I love (their Arnold Palmers, most of their wine, some snacks) and half is just awful. We go every time we drive through Indy to re-stock on cheap/decent wine (can’t get it in TN).
May 10th, 2012 at 11:43 AM
What? You’re joking, right? Sweet Tea is amazing.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:43 AM
Sweet tea can go suck balls
You, sir, are dead to me
May 10th, 2012 at 11:43 AM
By the way, I have done this myself.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:43 AM
Whole Foods has really good pizza.
we have it most every wednesday. the vegan pizza is pretty good…the cheese substitute has the right texture, and it has a nice mustardy bite to it
no, not preferable, just an opinion from experience
May 10th, 2012 at 11:43 AM
Be careful what you wish for! I’m actually still in Nashville, but I’m like 25 minutes from downtown thanks to one of the Old Hickory Blvds
May 10th, 2012 at 11:44 AM
The Wire.
Agreed. Working in restaurants in the south through college will make you hate sweet tea and ranch dressing.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Spent a summer down in tennessee. I had sweet tea several times and just wasn’t a fan.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
I thought you were channeling your inner Jaqen.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
I grew up in Pittsburgh and think Primantis is very overrated. It’s good and all but it’s not that good. Fatheads is much better.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
how bout nana pudd’n?
May 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
no. i never knew either of them until i got to college. only sub shop i knew growing up was Subway. I was in one of those houses where mom cooked 5-6 days a week. i never had sushi until i was like … 23/24. now i get it like every 10 days.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Can’t disagree more. Sweet tea, especially when its done right is stupendous. I’d stab a hobo for a gallon of Bojangles tea right now.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
My sources confirm that Central Market is awesome.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Old Hickory Blvds
There seems to be a million of those. I enjoy it. Live in country country now.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Sweet tea can go suck balls
I too despise sweet tea.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:47 AM
I had sweet tea several times and just wasn’t a fan.
Depends where, honestly. Some people butcher it with too much sugar. Or simply the wrong brand.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:47 AM
If he can stay out of the casinos, he’ll be OK.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:50 AM
It’s taken me a while to be okay with it, but the more I travel other places, the more I like TN, and Nashville in particular. It’s very livable, with a nice mix of city and country and recreation.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:52 AM
One thing I definitely miss about Charlotte is Bojangles.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
/high five
May 10th, 2012 at 11:57 AM

May 10th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
Craig James would stab a hobo for an erection.
May 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Id stab a hobo to work someplace where i can post here.
/heads to work and talk to people on the phone for 8 hours…
//need booze
May 10th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
Really late to the party – but fuck Sheetz. We told them not to build something a certain way, they ignored us, and then when it failed they sued us. Cost us over $100k in legal fees, etc. to get out of the matter.
May 10th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Craig James would stab a hobo if she was a hooker.
May 10th, 2012 at 12:21 PM
Tank stuff or store stuff?
