Unhappy Slugger Albert Pujols Throws Glove at Erick Aybar
The Angels beat the Twins 6-2 last night and Albert Pujols went 2-for-5 with two RBI, bringing his average up to a blistering .198. Following the final out, the usual high-fives were doled out, but shortstop Erick Aybar opted for an elbow tap that Pujols did not appreciate. The struggling first baseman responded by angrily throwing his glove at Aybar and walking off, seemingly in a huff.
SI’s Will Carroll was quick to point out that the tapped elbow was the one he had fixed a couple years ago, so perhaps it’s still a little tender? Regardless, I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen a player throw a glove at another person since fourth grade. Never thought Albert Pujols, in his 12th year in the majors, would be playing the role of emotionally unhinged little brother.

not to threadjack or anything, but did hear about this former record exec saying there was some meeting back in like 1991 with of all the major labels execs (who happened to be investors in private prisons) where they decided to promote rap music to promote violence in america, in order to keep privatized prisons full, thus making them the most money

More likely senility. Once someone hits 75, it’s all downhill.
A guy I played football with in high school got a glove thrown at him in baseball practice, hit him in the nuts. Testicular torsion. Was in the hospital for a hot bit.

So is Aroldis Chapman going to be elevated to the closer’s role in the Natty or what? Sean Marshall had another poor outing yesterday.

I hope Josh Beckett still has golf on his mind tonight. The Wahoo Warriors need a victory.

Methinks he hit his funny bone. Clearly, Pujols doesn’t have one.

Clearly the dude faked him out of the high five and gave him a gut slap. Pretty sure this is not a big deal.

And by guy slap I mean elbow slap.

no way. nwa was already violent as hell. 88-94 was the golden era for rap.
watched a documentary on the 92 riots. i forget how effing crazy that was. it completely consumes me, i think its very interesting.

yea, but it wasn’t commercialized like it became in the 90′s…that’s the point, not the quality.

Doesn’t it also work in reverse — gangstas rapping about prison? I seem to recall more than one reference to Pelican Bay in song.

As Spencer said, he didn’t throw that in a joking kind of way. Seems like a real joy to be around. Sorry Al B. Sure, this is L.A., not sheltered St. Louis.

Oddly, I used to live close to Pelican Bay.
