Seeing the number in parenthesis next to an email folder drives me crazy. I have to make it so that nothing is unread. And then as soon as I determine either that it’s not important to me or that I’ve responded appropriately, I delete the original email.

i used to do this as well until one day, we had an hour long training on “email organizational skills” (that went long) and the techniques the presenter used. all it takes is an hour a day to maintain your email!

it takes 10 seconds to copy and paste into our case management system…case relevant emails go there, everything else is meaningless as far as im concerned.

as of now, i have 1405 unread emails in my outlook inbox…and that’s only because i deleted around 2,000 of em that were all from before 2010 last december or something.
