I would love to join in this morning’s roundup, but I believe my work day is going to be a shit show. Last night’s Yolanda happening was hilarious.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:08 AM
I want to be that football

She is quite the receiver.

Always good to see the “and surviving” tag
May 8th, 2012 at 8:11 AM
I do have a question though- do any under 30 (age) commenters tuck in t-shirts to jeans? Like just a regular casual t-shirt? We have jean casual here at work, and this new 26 yr old dude does this shit.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:12 AM
Oh and well done on the roundup pic.
/needs to be said
May 8th, 2012 at 8:13 AM
Mad Men spent around $250k to have a Beatles song in an episode
I’d guess that was 7.5% of the operating budget for that episode. Well played. Like a celebrity appearance but as a song.
Good article but it fails to note some nuances of getting the Beatles on the air.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:15 AM
couldnt agree more with Scripty
May 8th, 2012 at 8:16 AM
In the driver’s defense, these guys were jay-walking and he was trying to make a left turn there.

Damn, Matt Light secretly had Crohn’s disease his entire career? Thats rough.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:19 AM
I’m 41 and I DO NOT tuck my casual t-shirt into my jeans. T-shirts are made for hanging free, like you’re sitting around drinking a beer and watching a game with friends. only time I tuck my shirt into jeans is when I’m wearing a collared shirt, like a golf shirt.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:20 AM

Chicago – no on the tucking T-Shirts into jeans. That’s just not right. We even have the occasional dude who will tuck a football jersey into jeans, which should be grounds for immediate deportation
May 8th, 2012 at 8:21 AM
No, but I wear a tucked in collared shirt with jeans when I work in the office. The tucked in t-shirt look sounds like a hipster to me.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:22 AM
Woah just read some of this. Haha she started two comments with the word bitch. All caps lock. I AM ANGRY BLACK WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Thanks guys. Agree completely that tucking a t-shirt into jeans makes you look like a fucktard.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Any chance this fellow is an engineer who only brought 3 clubs to the company golf scramble?
May 8th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Hard hitting stuff in that fat-sack book.
T-shirts should never, under any circumstance be tucked in. Collar or gtfo.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:26 AM
He is not emblematic of our downtrodden people, we don’t all dress the same and know each other.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:26 AM
Sucks about the Post. I am one of those few people that needs to have the paper in hand every morning. Judging by my neighbors, probably about 1/4 of us get the daily and a few more get only Sunday.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:26 AM
This is something I can get behind.
Florence Williams gets right to the bosom of her new book in its first line, reeling off names for the most beloved part of the female anatomy: “Funbags. Boobsters. Chumawumbas. Dingle bobbers. Dairy pillows. Jellybonkers. Nim nums.”
Don’t forget Tittays, Coconuts, Globes, Kazongas, Knockers, or Zeppelins
May 8th, 2012 at 8:28 AM
And we drank a lot of whiskey,
So I don’t know if we went on that night at all.
But I don’t think they even missed us
I guess Buffalo ain’t geared for me and Paul.

May 8th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
If it’s super long when untucked, tuck it in.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
What if it was a polo shirt?
BITCH HE DIDN’T SAY NOTHING BOUT NO DAMN POLO SHIRT. KNOW WHAT THE FUCK WE ARE TALKING BOUT WHEN WE TALK T-SHIRTS. T-SHIRTS GOT NO COLLAR.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
That would be pretty standard. I have no problem with this. It’s the regular t-shirt (blank or graphic) tucked in (tightly I might add), with belt fully showing that irks me greatly.

I’ll be 29 tomorrow. The last time I had a t-shirt tucked into my jeans was probably when I was 2. And that t-shirt was called a onesie.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:46 AM
Kind of enjoying this theme this morning.

can slideshows save the Washington Post?
I’ve been in DC 12 years, and can’t believe how much worse the Post is now. The Post is awful, they make the worst editorial decisions. We cancelled our subscription a few months back and switched to the NYT.
May 8th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Whoa. Is this true?

Depends. Most of the time absolutely not. Depends what you’re wearing

BITCH I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT FUCKIN HOCKEY. IN THE CAPS GAME THERE WAS MORE PENALTY TIME LEFT THAN THERE WAS ON THE GAME CLOCK. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN GAME CLOCK RAN OUT? BITCH-ASS ANNOUNCERS DIDN’T MAKE IT CLEAR FOR NON-HOCKEY FANS SUCH AS MYSELF WATCHIN THE MUHFUCKIN GAME

May 8th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Loved how they used the song and loved even more about how Don bitched during the episode about how expensive it was to use a Beatles song, even in the 60′s.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
They’d have stopped playing hockey
May 8th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Probably Thibs’ last game as Bulls head coach, from what I hear.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
He works in IT, right?
May 8th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Two amazing games last night. Amazing. Did anyone catch Justin Tuck behind the Rangers bench? He went crazy after after the 3rd and 4th goals.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Good thing he did, too, because Brendan Shanahan was ready with a 2 game suspension if he was able to convert that save.
/shows self out
May 8th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Since a goal was scored, the penalty is over. If no goal was scored, the game is over and the penalty as well.
BITCH.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
That Caps/Rangers game was one of the better games I have seen in a while.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
IN THE CAPS GAME THERE WAS MORE PENALTY TIME LEFT THAN THERE WAS ON THE GAME CLOCK. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN GAME CLOCK RAN OUT?
Game over, unless tied, then the penalty extends into overtime (as it did last night).
Feel bad for Ward, drew the penalty that lead to Carlson’s goal, then was in the box for the tying and game winning goals.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
He’s an analyst like me. Oddly enough, I’m the one who’s an engineer from GT. He’s a southern frat boy, though (and still thinks he is even though he’s 4 years removed from college).

May 8th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
A goal was scored and the penalty continued into OT IIRC
May 8th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
I also should have prefaced that I usually don’t have a lot of luck with peppers. but all my previous attempts at a garden was in containers, so i am blaming it on that.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
When do you get it? Is it on your doorstep in the morning?
We get the Sunday Times. Its there by 7:00 or so on Sundays
May 8th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
Feel bad for Ward, drew the penalty that lead to Carlson’s goal, then was in the box for the tying and game winning goals.
Didn’t feel bad for him until what I saw on Twitter afterwards. Yeah good luck getting black kids that were even thinking about playing to get excited now.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
It was a nice two-year run I suppose, maybe they can bring Vinny Del Negro back unless winning a series keeps his job with the Clippers
May 8th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
I neglected the fact that the penalty was 4 minutes.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:09 AM
I also should have prefaced that I usually don’t have a lot of luck with peppers. but all my previous attempts at a garden was in containers, so i am blaming it on that.

They just showed an attempted robbery on GMA. Some woman was willing to give up her daughter as she ran away.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Got it, thanks Geezeus. This hockey thing isn’t so bad.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Yea, I guess only webercantcoach would know what’s really going to happen, though.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
A goal was scored and the penalty continued into OT IIRC
The penalty was a double minor (4 minutes) for high sticking (it’s automatic when blood is drawn). So the tying goal causes the first of the 2 minutes to expire, the remaining 2 minutes has to be served.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
Kudos to them for this. Hopefully it starts a trend.

May 8th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Highly sarcastic. Webercantcoach is serious about this though. He thinks the Bulls will let Thibs go, and is actually somewhat confident about it. Obviously, this would be one of the top 5 mistakes made in the NBA in the last 10 years, but that doesn’t stop old webs from making the call.

We don’t. The Twitter must not be clicking on that link and he needs the commenters to click. I don’t know. It isn’t terribly interesting. Attractive ball gal reluctantly writes something on a piece of paper and hands it to someone. And that’s it.

Yeah. Did that on multiple gigs. Still have over 100,000 options worth less than the value of the ink on forms I signed.
I also did a consulting gig at the Macy’s IT HQ. Ultra-casual and lotsa bare skin over there, which is not necessarily a good thing, if you know what I mean.

He’s a frat boy, though (and still thinks he is even though he’s 4 years removed from college).
Guy here still clings to that look as well. He refuses to phase out his Marty McFly vest/sleveless jacket thing.

No style sense. I bet most of you wear gray and black every day. And yell at kids on your lawns too.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
I took my son to spring training one year. While trying to get autographs, all the kids were yelling “Craig, Craig, here”. My kid hollers “Excuse me, Mr. Biggio …”. Biggio walked straight to him, signed his baseball, shook his hand. My kid said “Thanks Mr. Biggio”. His response, “Thanks for being so respectful”
No one else got an autograph.

Never tuck in collared except at work/formal occasions.

Oh good gawd, no.
No style sense. I bet most of you wear gray and black every day. And yell at kids on your lawns too.
No and No. As a matter of fact, we have an empty lot next door that I constantly weed-wack – we call it the sandlot. My front yard is the outfield and my side yard is dugout, complete with working water hose and basement access to the “clubhouse”.
I get pissed if the my kids and the neighborhood kids aren’t outside running around.

I also should have prefaced that I usually don’t have a lot of luck with peppers.
I have epic hauls each year with my green peppers in containers. Whats wrong with yours? They cracking, low output, the plants not getting tall enough? No flowers?

What formal occasion are you wearing jeans to? You sure you’re not from Pittsburgh?
May 8th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Collared shirts can be tucked into jeans, but it completely depends on the situation and the type of collared shirt and jeans. But generally, you should be going untucked more times than tucked.

Finally, voice of reason

Jeans everyday at work, and shorts on Fridays in the summer. Love it!
May 8th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
never tuck anything into shorts

When did it become acceptable for NBA players to bring their small children up to the podium after the game?
If I wasn’t such a “glass half-full” type of guy, I would think that their handlers told them to do it to appear more “marketable”. Leave your damn kids out of this!
May 8th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
tucking in general, not specifically with jeans.
when you leave the office to hit happy hour, you gotta untuck that shirt and loosen that tie.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
For god sakes. If you tuck in your shirt, have common decency and wear a belt.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
Going back to the Beatles song on Mad Men, some of those songs were owned previously by Michael Jackson and they never got used. It’d be interesting to know if this was one of them…

What a dickhead! Turning down children cause they don’t call him “Mr. Biggio”. You’re not the president, dickwad.

Do people even do this? Oh, no

Susanna Hoffs can get it. Prince wrote Manic Monday.

I was waiting for that response from someone.
They had some pre-set times for signings and we were outside that window of time. We were all sure he was going to ignore us.
Funny – you shoulda seen the women creaming for Brad Ausmus – most of them were hot but it was hilarious.

So, if you tuck it in, what’s the status of the buttons?

Did Sony buy them from Jackson? It was during (I think) his near bankruptcy phase prior to the sweet release of death. I know Paul tried to get them back but was outbid again.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Casual life bro, I have been so drunk in the morning I have arrived in a collared shirt with basketballs shorts and these shoes which I think are slippers.
/Team Do not tuck a collared shirt or polo into basketball shorts in office monday morning
May 8th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
All of this.
May 8th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
collared shirt with basketballs shorts
Never. Ever. Evar.

I swear I think estrogen slowly eats away brain cells.

Did Sony buy them from Jackson?
IIRC, they were leveraged by the bank (BAC) as collateral, so that’s how he funded his lifestyle for a long time. I think Sony did get them after he died. But some songs sat around unused for a long long time.

I agree with the esteemed Senator from NJ. With jeans, collared shirt should be untucked, but can be tucked sometimes. Must wear a belt which must match the shoes or be neutral if wearing sneakers. Oh, and never tuck a polo into jeans
May 8th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
Oh, and never tuck a polo into jeans
Disagree. It all depends.
May 8th, 2012 at 10:15 AM
You were correct on all counts until the last sentence. Polo’s can and usually should be tucked into jeans. Us academic types call that “dressing up.”
May 8th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
“can” is a stretch but allowable, “usually should” is straight up ridiculous.
May 8th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
I see your reasoning, I meant if I’m going out to a bar, I’m not tucking my polo into my jeans. Someone needs to light the jck signal to get the official ruling.
May 8th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
tucking in a shirt seems to defeat the purpose of casual friday.

May 8th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
“Usually should” is when wearing it to work. And your dumb ass better be wearing a belt. Shoes (sneakers?) should be somewhat related to the outfit.
Billy Wagner is eating comments again today.
