Here Are a Couple Head-Snapping Highlights From Floyd Mayweather’s Win Over Miguel Cotto
Floyd Mayweather beat Miguel Cotto via unanimous decision last night in Vegas. Mayweather earned a record $32 million guaranteed for his 43rd consecutive career victory. While the judges didn’t see the fight as very close (118-110, 117-111, 117-111) Cotto gave Mayweather what was perhaps the toughest fight of his career. We even got to see Mayweather bleed for what seemed like the first time ever. Of course, by the time the scores were read, Mayweather looked like he had just walked out of a casino instead of a title fight.
In the end, Mayweather was just too good for Cotto. It was the same story as every previous fight. After the fight, he went through the usual, “Let’s give the fans what they want and make the Pacquaio fight happen” bullshit and played nice with Larry Merchant. Now Mayweather gets ready to head off to prison for the summer. When he gets out, they will start the process of finding his next opponent. Who knows who that will be, but odds are, it ends with Mayweather giving better than he gets and more questions about a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

I thought the judges were a tad generous with what constitutes a jab getting through. I still had Mayweather winning but I’m not sure which fight 118-110 was watching.
