I didn’t click on the link. When does Nebraska have to get rid of him because he hurts recruiting? Not saying they are recruiting a lot of gay players. However, I would think other teams could and will use this to their advantage.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:14 AM
Yeah, but Preston is a moron.
What could Spirit airlines be thinking with those bag fees?
May 4th, 2012 at 8:16 AM
Yeah, well, if Mr. Florida didn’t look like a thug then maybe that sinkhole wouldn’t have opened up on him.

Not sure if I can commit to this weekend but consider this done. As deceivingly strategic a game as Go. Carrying 24 cans of beer in a tree is retarded though, I will opt for 18 tall boys.

Those boobs look uncomfortably jammed in there, she should set them free.
Pretty sure Central Florida is already one giant sinkhole.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:22 AM
Well I want to be valued too. Hey JMac, that Perfect Strangers game was in yesterday’s Roundup.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:23 AM
Well, considering it’s between myself and mole, I’m not sure I should be flattered.

May 4th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
Do you think most other things labeled “photoshopped” are real?
May 4th, 2012 at 8:33 AM
I think the whole point of Spirit is that a boarding pass is insanely cheap (like $10) and then there’s tons of add-ons depending on what you’re traveling with and where you want to sit.
If you’re a very simple traveler it works.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
This guy knows how to play Possum.
/I bet like 20 kids have done this and now the media flails all over themselves covering it. Like Rainbow parties, that only happened to me once and it was reported as an epidemic
May 4th, 2012 at 8:37 AM
So you’re against raising bag fees? I’ll give you two hypotheticals, tell me which you prefer:
1) Increased baggage fees, airlines continue to operate.
2) No baggage fees, airlines go out of business.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:40 AM

I have one of Jay V’s tickets, so I think we’re in 140ish, from what he said he had. If we’re tailgating prior, I have an awesome spot I usually park in the Eagles lot (K lot).

Regarding Seau and CTE.
Can we re-address how tasteless and worthless Jeff Pearlman’s Sweetness biography is? #34 never ran out of bounds; he lowered his head until he crushed skulls with somebody. But that book paints a picture of a dark and disturbed man without EVER mentioning the effects of his playing career.

How is the Kutcher ad racist? Indian people are considered caucasian. Anyone see Short Circuit? Is Fisher Steven a racist? Why aren’t bikers and fags upset too?
That is not the whole ad.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:51 AM
Nice lazy change. What the hell happened the PP? Flyers better not blow this. I don’t want Parise even considering staying in NJ dammit.

May 4th, 2012 at 8:54 AM
I’m glad this guy is finally getting the national spotlight. For years (at least 20) he’s been the same bigoted douchebag, but no one seemed to care. All of a sudden people have realized he’s an asshole. Now if only Bo Pelini would realize he’s a terrible coach, too.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:55 AM

May 4th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
nothing to do with the wedding or mariano rivera, but holy hell, metallica’s black album might be one of the most overrated albums of all time. compared to their first four albums, that thing is a steaming pile.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Don’t ya know? Everything’s racist these days.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:00 AM

Every song on Master of Puppets is awesome. Load, Reload, and Black were so shitty.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
im conflicted on those…one one hand, you can’t stay the same your entire career otherwise it’d get stale. but on the other hand, those two albums were so putridly bad, any benefit of the doubt that they had built up…and they had built up considerable amounts of doubt benefits…was gone like a fart to the wind.
i applaud the effort, damn the execution.

It’s an extreme, but the basic premise is that the airline industry as a whole is barely profitable (if at all), and money has got to come from somewhere.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
how can there be an “end of the day” when god’s everlasting? oh ron brown, perhaps you should’ve used a different filler you gay-hatin’ summabitch.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Didn’t see Get Him to the Greek? Yeah, I read somewhere that he’s doing actual acting these days.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
I think Load and Reload were darn good albums, I tend to like Reload a little more because it’s a little darker and heavier than Load. These are much better than the subsequent albums, “death magnetic” is just a lyrical joke full of metal cliches.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
Theyre playing with nearly no emotion and look so lacadaisical out there.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:09 AM

May 4th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Two years from now when Bo Pelini is on the hottest of hot seats, he’ll have no one but himself to blame as he clearly has no clue how to assemble an offensive staff.

May 4th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
well, they should be working with the airplane manufacturers to come up with more fuel efficient, updated planes to replace the cattle haulers they call 737′s now.
the dreamliner is great and all with the tech, but that has to be applied to the domestic flights. people will bitch less if they don’t feel like they are paying to be in flying greyhound bus.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
while you can’t argue with someone’s taste in music, you can sure call their musical tongue tasteblind.

Anyone else hitting up a MMJ/Band of Horses show this summer? Have yet to see MMJ so I’m pretty stoked.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:11 AM
I’m glad you took the lead on this Husker. Dude shouldn’t be fired for the effet on recruiting, he should be fired because he shouldn’t be in charge of leadnig young men in what is supposed to be an open-minded environment. Go start a whacko megachurch somewhere if you want to spew that idiocy.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
This might be the coolest advertisement I’ve ever seen.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
It’s largely the airlines’ fault that they are not profitable. They’re not bending over backwards to make flying convenient or affordable for the consumer. Shit, flying in America is one of the worst travel experiences possible. Charging astronomically more (a practice certainly not limited to Spirit) for basic services isn’t a path to profitability.
I take the train whenever possible, even if it takes longer. It’s much more convenient.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:12 AM
i really like the instrumental on death magnetic, but the lyrics and singing suck. it’s even worse on that shitty EP they released a few months back.

This place gets weird when I’m standing at a bus stop and another commenter drives by and honks.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
Not entirely true. Arilines could just roll the bag fees into the cost of tickets. They don’t do that because the fees for checked bags are not subject to the excise tax. The fees are pure profit for the airline.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:16 AM
How do you expect barely profitable airlines to overhaul their fleets with $220-$250 million per pop airplanes?

May 4th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
well said. exactly how I feel about flying. I would just assume drive. I wish taking the train was more of an option for where I live.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Very much so. Same sentiment applies to various Internet properties too.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Maybe flying just isn’t an affordable way to travel. I don’t have any numbers in front of me, but I seem to remember reading that most of the highly rated airlines are nationally run.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
They seem to play better when there’s a little bit of desperation anyway, I guess.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:20 AM

Hell yes! It’s my first MMJ show too.

Spence, where does “And Justice for All” sit with you?
May 4th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
That’s some good trollin’ right there.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
they phase it in, the same way they are phasing in their dreamliners.
take the popular routes between hubs, newark to houton, chicago, atlanta, LA, etc and work your way down.
i’ll admit, it’s selfish of me to want to do that since i normally fly the newark to houston route on united in 737′s.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
The music itself isn’t terrible, I think “broken beat and scarred” actually has a catchy riff, but it seems like most of the songs start in the same abrupt fashion, I couldn’t get past that.
Well, no one is perfect, I just liked the way they experimented with more bluesy sounds and a slower, heavier sound. You can’t fault the band for evolving, when now it feels like they’re trying to hard to be what they were before.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
I wish I could dig up some old analyst numbers I once saw re: the lack of profitability over the history of the airline industry. It was a ridiculously high number. I guess I could call and find out. Anyone know the number for Arthur Andersen, LLP?
May 4th, 2012 at 9:21 AM

/solution to all problems
May 4th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Agreed. Giroux needs to get them playing like they were last series. And Lilja is useless.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Not concerned.
Yet.
What I’ve heard from analysts is that the Devils are playing an aggressive forechecking game and keeping the Flyers on their side of the ice. They eased up a bit in the 2nd 2nd period, and the Flyers promptly scored. I don’t know how healthy Kovy is, but he sure looked awesome with the winning assist in OT.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
And justice for all, fuck the rest. One of my fav metal albums ever.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Its your own fault for making the fake internet friendship exist in the real world. And for being poor and riding the bus.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
1) Increased baggage fees, airlines continue to operate.
2) No baggage fees, airlines go out of business.
We talked about Spirit at work yesterday. They probably had a consultant do a study that showed that getting people to click on a cheap, non-reimbursable ticket and then find out at the airport they owed $100 each way for a bag, pissing them off to the point that they’d never fly Spirit again maximized returns to putting it into the ticket price and having a bunch of people fly other airlines today.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Yep, even though it’s the proverbial cattle hauler, Southwest is doing just fine by making travel easy (once you get through security, of course) and not gouging you just because they can.
Other airlines are chasing bucks wherever they can, like government money to serve airports that no one flies out of (seriously gov’t, stop giving them money), “fees” to avoid taxes, no peanuts, etc.
when I lived on the east coast, Amtrak made travel easy.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
And by 2nd 2nd, I mean 2nd.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:24 AM

May 4th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Also – the Prudential Center sounds like an awful place to watch hockey games. The sound system sounds horrid yet they’re still blasting Who Let the Dogs Out on full blast. It’s nice that they hired a mentally challenged guy to be PA announcer though.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
overly ambitious bordering on pretentious…reeks of “look how progressive we are.” almost no bass on the album. bloated epics that remind one of joyce’s finnegan’s wake.
the solo on one is one of kirk’s best tho.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
i think Justice is only a few steps above the Black Album, but for far different reasons, mostly the band wasn’t over Cliff’s death and they took it out hard on Newstead. shitty bass lines throughout the album b/c they didn’t want him to stand out.
give me Ride the Lightning any day of the week
May 4th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
Usually big airlines get discounts from the list price on the 737. And the new 737s (the 737-800 & 737-900) are much nicer. Boeing is also developing a new 737-MAX which will have Dreamliner fuel efficency and interiors. I can’t wait to fly the Dreamliner.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
bingo. what’s with the sentiment of “it’s my right to fly for cheap!” airlines are businesses in a very low margin industry.
I mean, it’s pretty simple to figure out if it’s worth flying somewhere…calculate the cost of flying in time expense and monetary expense and add a personal convenience factor. compare to the cost of driving, again in time and money metrics with a convenience factor. choose the one that comes out on top.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
Actually, the guy the Flyers could use right now is Meszaros. He’s about 2 weeks away (maybe) from a possible return.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
People will always associate you as that one guy who kissed a dude. Just remember that, coop.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
these.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Didn’t they turn down the bass on the mix and turn up the guitars?
May 4th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
I like Metallica’s work and own a lot of it, but that band’s back story makes them sound like the most un-metal group of emo musicians in the history of ever.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Armchair CEO Day is my favorite day at TBL.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:28 AM
no, i agree that you can’t fault them for evolving…but you can ALWAYS fault rich guys for going for a “bluesy” sound. it’s like the “mitt romney rolling his sleeves up” of the music world.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
I’m sure it will be a prime destination for conventions once the Devils move to Quebec.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
S&M. I’m guessing most Metallica fans loathe that album, but I liked it alot.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
they actually had him mirror the rhythm guitar on all the songs, if you listen carefully you’ll hear newstead playing spot on with hetfield’s guitar.
they didn’t mix him out of it, but they certainly held him back. he was no cliff burton, but the live solo’s that Newstead did were pretty badass.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
The main issue for airlines right now is oil over $100/barrel. That and very bad legacy pension issues. But flying isn’t going to get better once US Airways buys American*
*Philly is going to be gone as hub in this scenario
**would love more Virgin America or having Jet Blue in Philly
May 4th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
planes should be powered by wind turbines and geothermal heat! BOOM! no more fuel expense.
also, didn’t Delta just buy an oil refinery to vertically integrate and attempt to keep fuel prices under control? that’s a YUUUUUGE risk but could be an industry paradigm shift if it works.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:30 AM

Go see mmj, y’all will shit yourselves in amazement.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
I live in Central PA and it’s only an option to travel as far north as Boston and as far south as Charlotte (although the latter is a really long route and requires a lot of switchovers). Still, I find that when you add up the two hour early arrival time at airports, the lines, the runway delays, the baggage claims, it’s almost always better to go by rail. And that’s all before I remember that I’m 6-6 and have to practically crawl down the shoestring-thin aisle to get to my four inch wide seat with zero legroom.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
I don’t know that he sucks, if you say so I’m good with that. Do the players care about his positions on gay rights? No, I doubt it. But some parents may not want their son around such a person.

May 4th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
Fuck off, NBC. Did anyone else have this game disappear on them for the Blues/Kings? I searched for 20 minutes and couldn’t find it.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
No love for Master of Puppets?
May 4th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Yup, going to be interesting to see, but I think United and SW and US Air are already planning to do similar. If they can reduce their fuel hedging costs by directly refining jet fuel and using pipelines to provide their fuel needs, it’ll be a game changer in stabilizing jet fuel prices.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Intro to disc one leading into Master of Puppets is excellent. I don’t mind the album at all.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Ashton Kutcher is an abomination. I’m embarrassed he’s from my home state. I’m even more embarrassed that every time his name appears in the news the Des Moines Register picks it up.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Airlines are in about the worst business imaginable.
Just look to the stock prices covering the past 10 years:
JetBlue: -69%
Southwest: -56%
United/Continental: -37%
Delta: -48%
DOW: +33%
May 4th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Kill ‘em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are arguably three of the best metal albums recorded.
lots of love for all three

This made me laugh, but public transportation FTW. I wish we had that here. I’d get rid of my car immediately if I lived in a real big city.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Flying is almost universally loathed in this country, yet state governments turned down hundreds of millions of dollars in free government funds to construct high-speed rail corridors. Why? The Tea Baggers got everyone rabid about debt. The human element.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
No doubt, but those parents didn’t produce the 6-3, 265 pound game changer. They produced the 5-9 philosophy major.
/just saying
May 4th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Over the long term, Southwest is really the only one that’s been able to crack the code and keep any consistent record of profitability.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Since it went long, I think it depended on where you lived. In PA we got to see a big of Blues/Kings during the 3rd intermission, but then it brought us back to the game. Would be nice if they could put any ‘overage’ on CNBC, not like they have any huge ratings show going on at that channel on any given night.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
No. Kings/Blues was on NHLN until Flyers/Devils concluded.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
One of the secrets of the plane builders is that if you call it an upgrade, you don’t have to go through full FAA airframe testing. Thus, the 737-MAX is flying on a nearly 50 year-old airframe design.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Lol. Good one.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Why is this? Is it because of fuel prices alone? Or is it because their business model is flawed. I’m curious.
Flying sucks, but driving sucks more.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
no…floyd still stayed within their limits. that idea and story was ambitious, but they didn’t try to overload themselves musically with themes written for gymnastics’ sake.
like, when you say you’re trying to impress thru performance, you better be able to bring the goods. metallica just weren’t good enough musicians…so it kinda came off like kyle farnsworth pitching. yea, on it’s own it’s impressive…very fast, very good technique. but when you put that next to its peers, it loses its shine.
rust in peace by megadeth is what and justice for all was trying to be.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
I enjoy flying because I don’t expect red carpets to be rolled out and people to worship the ground I walk on just because I choose their airline. Follow their rules, have some empathy, and it’s a fine experience.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
I was to understand the Flyers were going to lay waste to the Devils. It seems not to be the case thus far.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
It’s easier to be profitably when you only fly one type of plane (737), have fairly good relations with labor and operate the point and spoke type of route map instead of hub-based.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Blackened > One. Best song evah.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Is that true? I would think the FAA would want to test upgrades a whole hell of a lot more than previously tested, proven designs. Then again, it’s the FAA…
May 4th, 2012 at 9:38 AM

May 4th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Not to paint with the 12 inch brush, but you may be right.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
exactly. part of why Southwest did so well while keeping ticket prices manageable during the beginning of the fuel spikes (back in 07 and 08) was due to their locking in fuel prices. they contractually locked them in at a higher price than what everyone else was currently paying and got laughed at by the industry. then, oil shot up and everybody was paying through the roof for fuel…except for Southwest.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Always enjoyed Brian Regan’s take on flying.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
I’m a big fan of commuter trains and subways, great way to get around. One of the many things I like about Boston.
Buses are road clogging, smelly hellholes filled with the bottom rung of society. And SC.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Just talking east coast. $50 gets your from DC to Boston in 5-6 hours, $125 on the Acela. It’s actually not too bad going to Florida or New Orleans from the east coast, but I wouldn’t take a train to Chicago or St Louis (or points west) from New York.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
metallica just weren’t good enough musicians
I love so many kinds of music, but heavy metal is just something I can’t get into at all.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
By the way, Boeing doesn’t operate only 737′s any more. Not since they bought AirTran.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Come on. Most travelers would settle for affordable fares, reasonable boarding, seating, and space requirements, and arrival/departure times within two hours of what they’re supposed to be. That’s not exactly some Robin Leach shit.
Congress actually had to pass a law that airlines can’t sit on a tarmac for more than four hours because airlines were doing that on the regular and saw no problem with it.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:41 AM

It’s not the same FAA requirements that Boeing had to do for the 787, but the new 737 is going to have more composite materials along with different winglets and its going to be a little longer from what I read. So there will be rigourous tests.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Starlight is awesome and I’m trying to decide whether I’m going to that show or nearby in Lincoln. Of course, the venue in Millennium Park in Chicago looks incredible.

There was money already earmarked for those projects. Part of it was stimulus (about 6 billion) with another $2 billion coming from a separate initiative.

OT: Really looking forward to getting into the garden this weekend. Who’s with me?
May 4th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
All about the Mega Bus for my brother-in-law who lives in DC and can’t afford to fly. He has family in Atlanta and Charlotte. Tickets are typically no more than $40 and it takes no longer than a normal car journey. Free wi-fi and all. I’d much rather travel that way than fly (don’t travel very often to places I can’t get by car).
May 4th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
So you’re saying they got very lucky, right? Because they did.
If anyone says they know where oil prices are going, they’re full of shit.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
they need to make those sumbitches wider, too. get some elbow and shoulder room plus some knee room for people over 5’9″.

I don’t know what subways and buses you ride, but subways are packed with way more bottom feeders than buses. You could not be more wrong on this one.

Damn. That’s kinda terrifying.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Just stay off the Chinatown buses. Those are the most disgusting thiings ever. The smell of the food people bring on will stay with you until you die.
But it’s $10 from NY to DC.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
I did a web project for the Air Force’s Aging Aircraft Office. Their stated goal is to keep the fleet of B-52s flying for 100 years. It first flew in 1952.
Could you imagine if we only recently mothballed the Wright Flyer?
May 4th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Hell to the yeah. I started last weekend, but this weekend I plan to put in some more peppers, tomatos, and cukes if they have them. I also need to put in a retaining wall, and some edging around the flowerbeds.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
In retrospect, they were in a weird emotional state with Cliff getting killed, and this whole album reeks of overcompensation. Plus I think we’ve seen since then how fucking AWFUL Metallica can be when they go for “raw emotion” (St. Anger)

May 4th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
This. I’m 5′ 10″ and it’s quite uncomfortable to fly. The SC’s of the world must really hate their lives on a plane.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
Of course, the venue in Millennium Park in Chicago looks incredible.
That looks cool. I am so glad bands are getting away from playing the outdoor sheds. These outdoor theaters and just better in every single way.
I’m gonna buy a ticket to Train, just so I can go take a big shit on stage. Just better not leave my pants down too long around that lead singer…..
I hate bland corporate rock like anyone else. I had a friend that went to a concert at Starlight (and I think it was Train) a couple years ago and he said the talent in the audience was off the charts. However, he was there with his girlfriend so all he got was eye candy.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
no, unfortunately. the original, however, that one really allowed her to belt out the “bright eyes, every now and then i fall apart! and i need you now tonight!” part.

May 4th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
I’m not sure that it’s correct to say they got lucky. they locked in their prices at $50-something per barrel to stabilize ticket prices. they took a huge risk that future prices would drop well below $50…that’s why they were getting laughed at. then, they shot up to over $100. it was a sound decision and investment.

May 4th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
yeah, i have to get the economy plus it makes a huge difference. having long legs and broad shoulders with a bad back makes for an uncomfortable flight in any of those seats with the limited recline and 90 degree upright position.

just admired mine this morning before work. we got a good rain Mon/Tues and my tomatoes loved it. damn rodents keep eating my strawberries though, which is upsetting.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I had an issue with that a couple years ago, I thought it was birds. I draped a netting over them last year, and that pretty much solved the problem.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I’m jealous. no garden for me this year since I won’t be living in my current house when harvesting time comes around. I am a little perplexed though. we had the mildest winter in NE FL since I’ve lived here (4 years) and my red seedless grape vine has yet to sprout leaves. the scuppernong vine came to life about 5 weeks ago and already has pinhead-sized grapes. nothing at all from the red seedless though…I’m worried.
the very mild winter did allow my orange tree to recover nicely and I expect it will bloom soon and have oranges this year. again though, I won’t be able to pick them. /sadface
May 4th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
I’m obsessed with mine. Don’t know why I didn’t have one earlier. I used to try potted tomatoes and peppers and they never really worked out.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:58 AM

I’m guilty of doing this. I’ll stand in the sunroom and look out the window for minutes at a time.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
I’m not sure I understand where you’re coming from. hindsight is the only way to evaluate if it worked out. Southwest invested by hedging their fuel prices. they did a better job than any other airline and allowed for cheaper tickets.

Ugh, they cannot maneuver around traffic any delay kills you, slow as all kinds of hell, they have stops at traffic lights so you will routinely miss green while people get on and off. The traffic delays and lights cause all the cars to be bunched together so often you will wait 15 minutes to get on a crowded set of 3 cars back to back. It’s not uncommon on a 15 minute trip to see the same pedestrians walking as fast the whole time. Unless it’s a dedicated line partake only with booze and an open schedule.
May 4th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
I’ll have to try that. I have a pretty secure fence around it because I thought it was rabbits/squirrels, but birds makes sense. I have three plants and I haven’t pulled a strawberry off a single on.
May 4th, 2012 at 10:01 AM

I freaking love growing stuff. I already have longterm plans for a greenhouse in Tennessee. I planted a sago palm “berry” and a berry from another palm tree in my yard that’s really tall but I’m not sure what type. they’ve both sprouted and I’m taking them back to Tennessee with me this summer and will keep them going until I can put them in my greenhouse.
May 4th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Northeast is the ONLY place a passenger rail system is worthwhile. I’ll do BOS to NYC on the train, but Philly/DC is generally still a flight.
I know Ohio had some ridiculous plan to connect Clev/Columbus/Cinci with a rail that would be both more expensive and take longer than just driving. Brilliant.

May 4th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Just make sure that the netting is held away from the berries, or else they’ll just poke their beaks through. I propped mine up last year, but it kept falling down. That’s what the retaining wall I mentioned is for, to lift one side of the netting.

Anyone have any good BBQ recipes that are pretty simple? Fiance is away this weekend and I feel like grilling some meats and having a few beers while I indulge in all the sports watching I possibly can for the next 3 days. Steak, sausage, pork, I’m down for anything.

Thise airframes have to be begging for mercy. after as many cycles as they’ve been through, i bet they get rebuilt every 3-5 years.

Brats in a beer jacuzzi.
Get a decent char on your brats, then hold them in a pot of beer, dijon mustard, garlic, onion and butter.

my wife is from Franklin so it’s kinda “going back home” for her. I’m from Johnson City, so it’s still a bit of a hike away from where I grew up, but it will be nice to be back in the home state. we’ve had a great time in Florida though so we’re going to miss it here fo sho.

sportsgal – I’m going to stop refreshing in here, so if you’d like to expand on your comment that my douchtasticness is related to being from a relatively small town in Tennessee, hit me up in another thread. I’d love to know more.
