No pigeon holing then. Bulliet and Buffalo Trace are my $20 bottles. Bulliet is in-your-face with the rye, which i like. Knob Creek is ok, but at that $$, i’m a Woodford fan. I was never able to get into Basil, too sweet and not strong enough (proof) for me. Different strokes and all… Have you tried Weller 107? That’s what I go for when I want a wheated whiskey.

Sugary isn’t a word I’d use to describe Woodford. I’d go with balanced, though i think they do have a heavier char on the barrel which could lead to the sugary description. What bourbon do you usually drink?
