That dog is awesome.
I don’t want to watch the Canadian taxi vid – I assume someone is getting crushed?
May 1st, 2012 at 8:09 AM
I’m more interested in the debate about what should – if anything – happen to the taxi driver.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:09 AM
Its Canada day here at TBL with all these Canadian clips…first the taxi driver in MTL, and then the dog on Global. Good stuff.
As for the guy who got run over, apparently he is extremely disfigured (no shit) due to the incident, but still alive. That was brutal…but I think the cab driver was just trying to GTFO and panicked.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:09 AM
Makes sense to me. I’m pretty homophobic.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:09 AM
I hope that cabbie doesn’t get in trouble. It’s too bad he didn’t get more of them
May 1st, 2012 at 8:11 AM
Because Dale Hunter doesn’t trust him when they have a lead. I think Ovie should demand a trade to the Wings. Great game last night between Caps/Rags. Kings/Blues was highly entertaining despite the 3 goal differential. Awesome physical play throughout. TJ Oshie blew up the pancake addict.

if you click the second video (not embedded, linked) you can see for yourself

I told you guys to get out of there! I told you guys to get out of there! I gotta find my Penny!
May 1st, 2012 at 8:17 AM
I’m more interested in the debate about what should – if anything – happen to the taxi driver.
I read the story first to make sure I wasn’t about to watch someone get crushed to death. Back and forth on how I feel, it seems like when he first pulled through he could have left but then turned around to go I’m assuming the direction he wanted to end up going (if he just leaves he can turn around somewhere else to get where he wants). Hard for me to call it a hit-and-run though when people are beating your car and if you do get out 7 people are probably going to beat you to death.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:17 AM
That was awesome!
May 1st, 2012 at 8:19 AM
“Homophobic? Maybe you’re gay” … (or bi)
Kanye.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:19 AM
What a load of crap, I cant believe how people have turned him into the LeBron of the NHL. Dude is awesome, that wrister last night was a rocket. Go Caps.
Space video was great, a tad better than human suffering.

If crazy is behind the wheel you can get killed.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:21 AM
When’s the Ryan Braun post going up?
May 1st, 2012 at 8:21 AM
Eva Longoria
She’s one of the few celebreties I’d like to see dress sluttier and dirtier. I’m assuming she’s a psycho but obviously that is not a concern.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:21 AM
Ha!
May 1st, 2012 at 8:23 AM
From the Feldman article:
I doubt anyone would’ve predicted a few years ago that Florida, the BCS champs in 2009, would not have had a player selected in the first 113 picks or only have two guys taken in the entire draft.
Yep. Win a title and that next wave of guys are a bunch of entitlement babies. Same shit happened with the 2004 tOSU recruits.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:24 AM
Didn’t we talk about this yesterday? Hard to come down hard on the cabbie when a mob is attacking you from all sides.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:25 AM
I want to know why the jackass was kicking and jumping up and down on the taxi. Seems fair to inflict $4,226 of human body damage in exchange for $4,226 of auto body damage.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:25 AM
that second cab driver video is fucked.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:26 AM

May 1st, 2012 at 8:27 AM

I find his toupee more disgusting.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:32 AM
come on, admit it – you laugh at the outfits this desperate girl wears …
is that a tank top or a dress?
May 1st, 2012 at 8:36 AM
Yeah, I don’t buy that Ovi = Lebron shit either, and of the reasons why is that the playoffs for each sport are totally different animals. You can chop it down to 4 or 5 teams to win it all for the NBA, but hockey is a fucking royal rumble. No one is safe in any round. Plus you need more than 2 great players to win it all in hockey, unlike bball.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:39 AM
OK I almost went #3 on that new Batman trailer.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:39 AM
The answer is yes.
Cab driver had other opportunities to leave before it became a gang up on the driver. Yes he should face criminal charges and yes those assholes should face charges of their own for whatever charges that can bee brought up. Nothing good happens late at night with a bunch of drunk idiots.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:40 AM
I swear this is the 3rd time Ive seen this in a roundup
May 1st, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Jimmy Traina needs to get with it. that’s at least the 3rd time that video has been on here.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:41 AM
It looks fucking fantastic. I was a little lukewarm after the second trailer(although the prequel on MI:4 was astonishing in IMAX) but this one went all grimy and fatalistic on me. Even that plane thing looks great.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:47 AM

Great Leon Searcy article. Here’s where the money went:
2 divorces
3 Kids
Condo in Miami for $865,000. Foreclosed
house in Clermont Fla for $399,900.
house in Baltimore for $870,000 Foreclosed
Bunch of Cars
Owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal and state tax liens.
Need a speaker at the rookie symposium saying wear a condom, do not get married until after you are retired, rent instead of buying until you signed your final contract, buy modestly, find a trusted accountant and listen to them.

Supposedly he had kicked them out of his cab earlier for being rowdy. Anyone know if this could be self-defence?
May 1st, 2012 at 8:56 AM
people can’t stop talking about the show Girls
about how it’s not good? This chick understands how to portray painful, but not funny. And the joke continues to be on me, as they show the main girl in various states of undress, in very non-flattering poses (although this chick has no good side, or good angles), and when Brian William’s daughter finally rubs one out, all I get is her digging into her pantyhose for two seconds, and a jump cut back to uggo.
P.S. I”m through watching online horror videos. I’m passing on clicking some guy getting run over from multiple angles, and I’m no longer watching people beat people up.
May 1st, 2012 at 8:57 AM

Is this your resignation letter from the Roundup?
May 1st, 2012 at 8:59 AM
The pilot was full of hipster awful, but the last two eps were much better (minus the ridiculous NY art part and the Lonely Island midget ripping off terrible lines like he’s some player). It’s certainly watchable, even if its a weak closer to what’s becomes a nice two hour block.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:00 AM

All. Of. This. x 1000.

Pretty sure its JGL. Fits with what the narrative is speculated to be…although I wonder why they’d include that shot in the trailer.

at least from this lunch bucket’s fascination with maiming. When CoRM throws up a cat video, I’m totally down for that.
No need for me to click that dog news thing, since my grandmother sent it to me a month ago, it’s been around so long.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:02 AM
I saw the first two episodes of “Girls” over the weekend and while it was entertaining, I can’t really say that I like any of the characters because they all seem to represent some sort of cliche or stereotype.

Because Dale Hunter is stuck 20 years in the past.

Speaking of not good, did you watch The Killing this week? Really weird fucking scene with Mitch and that homeless girl in the bed.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:03 AM
You guessed it: Frank Stallone.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:03 AM
how can a homeless girl have a bed? like, is it just a bed sitting outside or something?
May 1st, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Htown, I assume you have heard of Hudson Taylor? His non-profit is doing some good stuff.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:04 AM
People still watch this? Did they catch the killer yet?
May 1st, 2012 at 9:05 AM
Speaking of not good, did you watch The Killing this week? Really weird fucking scene with Mitch and that homeless girl in the bed.
That storyline is annoying me and feels like something they invented to string out 45 minutes of a show.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:06 AM
Speaking of not good, did you watch The Killing this week? Really weird fucking scene with Mitch and that homeless girl in the bed.
it wasn’t weird. She thought Mitch wanted to fuck for money, and she ended up taking her payment just the same when she realized that Mitch wanted to absorb her as a replacement.
I read something somewhere about how on regular cops shows, the cops have to be made to be super smart, because the solve crazy homicides in an hour, and the sourpuss and the guy who doesn’t realize he’s white have to be made so dumb, because it needs to take them 26 hours to get to the bottom of this.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:07 AM
That cab driver had multiple opportunities to drive away. Absolutely he should be charged.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:08 AM
When CoRM throws up a cat video, I’m totally down for that.
I hear ya, not the ideal way to start a morning with 2-4 videos of some combination of wrecks/accidents, someone getting sucker punched/robbed, or just videos when it seems like someone should be dead. But I will always watch videos of restaurant fights at 3 am.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:09 AM
Just remembered that I am a week behind on the Killing, so now I know that Mitch and the homeless girl storyline is still going.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:09 AM
People still watch this? Did they catch the killer yet?
yes because no.
And also because a guy who got shot 6 days ago and became paralyzed is already well enough to try and be the mayor again. It’s also only 18 days since he tried and failed to suicide, in the middle of his mayoral campaign.
And he was being framed for murder by the current mayor in a huge, huge conspiracy that goes right to the top and infiltrates every level of state and local government, including but not limited to the sovereign nation of some imaginary Indians, and some guy who smokes cigarrettes while wearing gloves.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:09 AM

I have absolutely no pity for the fool who pisses away his money.
Back when I used to live/work in NOLA and covered Saints training camp, I had a nice convo with Mike Karney on the subject. I’ll stop and give myself a “/Wilbon’d” and “/humblebrag’d” right now. Anyway, he was talking about how he tells all the rookies and young guys he meets on teams to save their money, be smart, don’t blow it on cars and crap like that. Made me have a greater respect for him off the field.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:10 AM

I got this theory, before she robbed Mitch, that this was actually a long lost daughter of Mitch from her whoring around days and that she actually went to this place to look for her. I dont know now though.

Shamefully, I’d never heard of him until you mentioned him. I live in suburbia, with really no gay friends, so I’m often ill-informed.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Are you her agent or some shit like that? Why do you keep linking to posts about her?
May 1st, 2012 at 9:12 AM

i admit, i’ve got this show on in the background now. I’m interested in the conspiracy storyline, but everything else it pretty boring.

Yep, 2018 WC lead announcer will be Gus Johnson with Piers Morgan providing color. Victoria Beckham will be the sideline reporter covering “the glitz and glamour of Russia”.
What a disaster this is shaping up to be. Fox Sports couldn’t have lower expectations from soccer fans even if they tried.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:19 AM
if private space companies weren’t already out pacing federal space agencies in terms of commercial travel into space i’d be really bothered.
then again if we can’t get the politicians to agree on funding for healthcare there’s no way they can agree on space exploration. which is sad on so many levels.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Ok guys, I saw GOT last night, so I’m ready to talk about it now.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:20 AM
They’ll have 8-10 guys drafted next year. UGA might see all 11 starters on defense get drafted while South Carolina will have one of the top RBs in the draft. Same thing with FSU. They will have a shit load of players taken from their defense, and some idiot GM will undoubtedly take EJ Manuel in the first 2 rounds. It’s a bit cyclical.

something like that. regardless…SPACE! we should totally do more with it and shit.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Not sure if I entirely agree, but one point I heard this morning is the space program always fueled children’s interest in science, and according to this guy I heard, cuts in NASA funding have a direct correlation to decreased science scores.

The average shuttle launch costs $450 million. If they just need to get materials up there, fine. Outsource that shit. I’d rather see the savings diverted into science and education funding though.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:25 AM
that and the gov’t used to provide specific funding and grants for education in science and engineering fields around the time NASA was huge, right?
even if we sent people to mars, the moons of jupiter, and set up a wild wild west type colony on the moon most coverage on the news would be about the kardashians, beyonce and jay z and tim tebow.

These all were ones I liked in the past couple years.

Give them every chance to keep your business. You never know what they can pull out on a given week. We were going to cancel DirecTV and go to U-Verse. Told DTV I was going to cancel, now we’re paying about $30 less a month. If you’re ready to take the conversation to the brink, you can usually get something.

Always call your current provider and say you’re thinking of switching, then give the price of the plan you’re switching to (Take $10 off, if you want). Ask if they can beat that. If they can, stay with ‘em if not, tell them you’ll think it over, then immediately call DirectTV and schedule a hook up. The day of the install, call and cancel cable.
This way, you won’t miss any TV.

Also, if you like some BBQ, get the Grub Hut in Manville. maybe a 15 minute drive from Somerville. It’s BYO, but there’s nice liquor stores on the way.

I don’t think it’s that simple, actually. Sure, that has something to do with it, but I think diminishing the cuts we’ve made in the science sector as well as in grants to universities and schools has played a large role. But, we’ve prioritized a dip shit series of wars in the Middle East, 11 Air Craft Carriers when 6 would suffice and the farcical war on drugs over educating the masses. Makes perfect sense to those in Washington, though.

i’m not one to put defense spending above all else, but i can’t argue against the ability to have well armed fleets in several oceans at once all across the globe.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:54 AM
what we learn from other planets influences what we know about our own.
cutting NASA’s budget is straight up ASININE. we have a limited time on earth, even moreso considering the proliferation of nuclear weapons that are shockingly easy to acquire. we need to do EVERYTHING we can in order to ensure the survival of the human race, something that should inherently trump any sort of political ambition.
considering our military budget is VASTLY larger and rife with budgetary redundancies, and considering the ultimate importance of NASA’s mission, it’s foolish to not support it more, let alone support it less.
if someone offered you a ton of apple stock at the company’s genesis for a dollar, with full knowledge of the incredible fortune you could make before hand, not a single person would not invest. that’s the exact situation NASA is in and yet we’re squeamish because of selfish political interests. it’s really sad.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I beleive 6 would be more than the rest of the world combined, no? China has the second most with 2 if my memory serves me.
Yeah…I think we’re good to go on that end.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:57 AM

May 1st, 2012 at 9:58 AM

Is this leading to moving millions of people into some sort of colony on another planet? It blows my mind to even fathom how that would work and the $ to do that.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:58 AM
i wasn’t responding to you…i was speaking generally. the only line that was in reference to your comment was the first line about other planets’ behavior teaching us more about earth’s.
May 1st, 2012 at 9:58 AM
Well said, Spencer. Also, wouldn’t a major advantage in space also carry multiple possible advantages in any war?
May 1st, 2012 at 9:59 AM
I get nervous that some new discovery is going to lead to someone trying to take the new discovery and turn it into a way of making money and destroy the planet in the process. But hey, fracking isn’t dangerous!
May 1st, 2012 at 9:59 AM
the problem is there’s no middle ground in the argument. you either are for rampant spending or strict austerity. because of that we aren’t talking about what needs funding and the future benefits of it, we’re talking about what needs budget cuts and what the immediate short term gains we get from it.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:00 AM
it’ll have to happen…we probably have less than a billion years of time left while the earth is still habitable and the sun isn’t expanding, and probably only 50,000 more years left of the current warm period due to the earth’s rotational axis…if we don’t start now, when will we?
considering the scope of the issue, 50k years aint much time to figure this shit out.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I think it’s more along the lines of NASA finding solutions to intractable problems like pollution, climate change, population growth, water/food scarcity. Might not necessarily be on another planet. But we need to find ways to preserve and improve our resources or else we’re going to be fucked — roughly, with no lube – in about 25-30 years.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:01 AM
absolutely…hell, it’s hard to have an intercontinental ballistic missile if you can’t figure out how to propel something into orbit.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:01 AM
The best part of the current turn to austerity in Europe is how terrible it’s going. Of course Mittens and Co will never agree to that.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Anyone else feel bothered by the fact that NASA’s funding got cut so severely?

May 1st, 2012 at 10:04 AM
that’s a good point, but with the rampant increase in Chinese defense spending in the past 10 years, and the likely increase in chinese defense spending in the next 10 years, we have to stay ahead of the curve.
the size of our navy in the current form is a direct result of learning from history in the past 100 years. we need aircraft carriers to maintain superiority in international waters, having the bare minimum with no room to spare should we lose some to battle (like china’s air craft carrier missle) would be devastating.

And, we may have less time than that. I have doubts that we’d make it all the way until the end of the current warm period- just seems improbable. If we want to survive as a species, I don’t think there’s any doubt that we need to do something eventually.

Michael Lewis’ Boomerang takes a hard look at many of the European countries currently slogging through this austerity. Some of the sections are a little dated (Iceland) but the Greece, Ireland, and Germany portions shed a lot of light on how these countries got so bad and why its so damn hard to fix.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:05 AM
Our defense spending = the sum of the next 20 highest countries.
It’s dumb.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:07 AM
china’s defense improvements have been largely overblown…they have one carrier of their own and one refurbished soviet carrier. their stealth technology has been debunked by our stealth experts and while they might be improving, we’re still so far ahead that it’s not necessarily a concern.
china would be foolish to start a conventional war against the US…not sure there’s much to worry about there in the near future.
now a rogue state with no political allies aside from china starting up a nuclear program with easily obtainable enriched uranium from sketchily guarded sites along the russian border? different story.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:07 AM
I’m not sure that we can. I mean, species have died off by the tens of thousands during the planet’s history. Shit, how many have we wiped out in the last 50 years? We like to feel like we’re destined to be the exception but while we have the great minds and willpower lacked by our predecessors, at the end of the day we’re only a bag of cells. It’s not that hard to wipe us out. Disease, climate change, massive drought — they’d all do the trick.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:08 AM
Has anyone else had the thought that maybe we’ve come close to reaching our potential as a species? My college buddies and I would talk about this (more than likely while high) and we always wondered if there was a knowledge meter, if you will, and we had maybe hit 95% of said meter and we’ve almost maxed out what we’re capable of as a species?
food for thought
May 1st, 2012 at 10:09 AM
Did anyone see the Daily Show last night? They had on this kid (he is 20) who wrote a book about his two moms. He seemed like an incredibly intelligent humble kid. I might check out his book.

the thing that blows my mind is that humanity is only around 200k years old and yet, since lets say the 1800′s, we’re almost past the point of no return in terms of the damage we’ve caused.
humanity is either a plague on the earth, a slap in the face to the natural order of the universe that will no doubt be corrected…or we’re the early stages of a species that’ll continually evolve to the point where our version of humanity bears little resemblance to the version facing the apocalypse.

May 1st, 2012 at 10:10 AM
it’s not a conventional war with the US that is the concern, it’s a Chinese power in the Pacific that can limit the involvement of the US fleet in Asia/Pac affairs.
right now they can’t really do anything, but if they can limit the US influence in those waters it’s trouble.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:11 AM
1.1 billion years til sun starts to grow (great link).
I mean, fascinating link, but its all just speculation from what I can tell.

May 1st, 2012 at 10:12 AM
I tend to agree with this, but at the same time there hasn’t been a species that existed like us on this planet (as far as we know). I like to think that we at least have a significantly higher chance of a lengthier survival than any other species, simply based on our exponentially increasing technologies. If anything can outlive the Earth, I would think we certainly have the best chance. Like you though, I’m just not sure if that chance is very high.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:12 AM
Yeah, kinda. We’re sort of prisoners to our own success. We’ve gotten complacent. Plus, we don’t tend to make evolutionary leaps. All our big jumps have occurred incrementally, standing on the shoulders of those who came before.
I mean, what’s the next great achievement? Cure for cancer? That’s probably the most realistic one on the list. I don’t even know what we’re striving for anymore.

not really man…we know what happens to stars when they “die” and know that our sun aint gonna be around forever. we know the approximate age of the sun, our earth, the effects proximity to a star has on a planet…
not too many leaps there. and when the sun DOES begin to expand (it will…can’t stop that), there aint no way we can survive that type of environmental change.

It’s really hard to argue that right now, we’re nothing but detrimental to the earth. Sure there are exceptions but overall, we don’t give a fuck about anything but our own wellbeing. Some of that is natural, but it has consequences.
I tend to agree that nature is about to hit us with some course correction. Used to think it would be from some disease. But really, the planet doesn’t need to do anything. We already have too many people. The lack of water alone will do a large chunk of us in. The ensuing wars over resources (water and oil) will eliminate another chunk.

May 1st, 2012 at 10:20 AM
We’ve certainly evolved, but there’s no black monolith that triggers a massive leap from nowhere. It’s really, really difficult to jump from A to F. Can’t have a car before the wheel, the combustible engine, oil, etc are discovered.

May 1st, 2012 at 10:21 AM
me too…and that’s why im so mindblown by all the discoveries in other universes they’ve been finding. we’re in the golden age of the universe, where life is at it’s most abundant and new stars being formed all over. there’s probably a few trillion years worth of energy to sustain stars left, and we’re in the prime of it all.
it’s pretty exciting shit and we haven’t even scratched the surface.

May 1st, 2012 at 10:27 AM
i can’t agree with any of this.
a) we have WAY MORE than 20-25 years, save for any man-made disaster
b) africa has no business supporting life? africa’s arguably the most truly natural environment there is…sure there’s political stuff, but it’s fairly pure. africa has no business supporting politics, would be the more accurate assertion.
c) we’ve survived through plagues and natural disasters before…they’ll figure it out.
don’t disagree with this.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:27 AM
But think how much needed to happen before the Internet was created. Computers needed to become commonplace and small. Telecommunications had to undergo major shifts in terms of how data was transferred. Its revolutionary, sure, but its didn’t just appear out of the ether.

four hundred years ago, the printing press was invented. if you went back in time with an ipad, they’d burn you at the stake.
now think about how rapidly technology is advancing, simply in the last decade. it’s been only 17 years since microsoft windows 95. SEVENTEEN YEARS…and now we have hand held phones that are more powerful than the computers running that shit.

Think is, lots of countries have thought about getting carriers, It’s just the cost to build/buy and maintain is astronomical, which is why you only see the US, UK, France, USSR (Wolverines!), China and Brazil (thinking of buying an old UK carrier, if they haven’t already) with carriers on any sort, and only the US with large carriers.
Carriers used to be a projection of power, but they’re now really just status symbols. Why else would China be building one when they knoow the US and/or South Korea could blow the shit out of it with a few million dollars in missiles. It’s not to “project power” to Taiwan, they can reach that place from land. It’s to float around saying, “I’m rich, bitch.”

Excellent long term thinking, pops.
not sure how that story relates at all. my point is not that someone shouldn’t try like hell to fix all problems, perpetuate the species. my question is why does spencer or anyone with their foot on the gas to get it done care about moving earth’s population to other planets?
it’s not happening for hundreds of years, and we aren’t going to be floating around watching future generations after we die. we are organic material ya hurd?

Pretty sure after this year’s ass beating it will be 10 out of 11 for UGA over the Nerds. Poor Lefty and Sportsbroad. They so desperately want Tech to beat UGA…they’ll always have basketba…oh wait. Well, they’ll always have Mathletes.

i brought up this quote last week in response to husker and everyone laughing at the CFB illuminati talking logistics in regards to a playoff…”amateurs talk about tactics, professionals talk about logistics.”
an aircraft carrier is entirely about logistics. yes, we could get there without one, but when you see an aircraft carrier loaded with jets sitting in your bay, that threat is a whole lot more tangible.

Fair enough- the question itself is an interesting one to mull over. However, I do think that if someone opined that we as a race were at the end of our potential, that would be self-absorbed. I feel pretty strongly that we have a LONG way to go to reach that. And by the time we do, we may have evolved to increase the potential even further.

well, if China’s anti aircraft carrier missile is for real, having a missle that can launch from land and hit a target several hundred miles away would make their dinky aircraft carrier all the more powerful in that region if it can’t be challenged by the US fleet.
the unique thing about that Chinese aircraft carrier missile is that it has a reported range that is greater than the range of the best fighter planes on our AC’s.

May 1st, 2012 at 10:55 AM
Bball will come back strong. Football is what it is until they get a defense. That offense is money (provided teams don’t get two weeks or more to prepare) but their defense is shit and that should never happen. They have access to some quality defensive players where they are and they aren’t capitalizing on it.
I do love…nay…LOVE that UGA has scheduled Ga Southern the week before Tech for the next couple of years. That way they see almost the same offense two weeks in a row. I fucking hate defending Tech’s system, but I’ll admit I love watching it up until someone has to throw the ball.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:55 AM
You can almost be certain that this happens already.
May 1st, 2012 at 10:55 AM
I’d agree if the carrier would get there. like the USS Ronald Reagan facing off across Taiwan with the Chinese Kung Pao, but the realtiy is, in a war, neither would get there. Every so often, the Naval War College will run wargames regarding China and the US. Is a full scale war, carriers aren’t surviving. Basically, the chinese side says “i’m launching my missles at your carrier task force.” Boom, no more carrier. As the military is wont to do, the’ve made rules saying you can’t do that in war games (ask them how that worked out in Iraq – Army War College predicted the insurgency – army brass said, you can’t do that).
May 1st, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Please. My wife is Asian, so more likely my progeny will have the perfect mix of social normalness and GT ingenuity.

Very smart move by UGA. I swore out loud when I saw that they did it. We’re pretty much fucked against you unless we can pass the ball, which seems unlikely. I think I’ll just have to hope a great QB comes along and Paul Johnson starts to expand the offense a bit.

May 1st, 2012 at 11:00 AM
I love that story in Blink where the retired Army major gets tasked with playing as the insurgency in a war game against the entire US Army, and he beats the shit out of them using basic old school WWII techniques. They didn’t like that much, so they changed the rules and whooped his ass the second time.

UGA’s defense will be a HUGE question mark beginning in 2013 as they are set to lose all 11 starters after this year. Having said that, should Jenkins and Geathers stay healthy, they’ll have one of the most dominant front 7s in football (if not THE most dominant). That will make Tech’s task a difficult one. Of course at the rate they’re going, they won’t have any corners at all, so at least you have that.

Not unless you’re a congressman from that district. Than it’s easy, because the moment you say, “citizens, we need to build something better, something that the military and this great country can and will use to defend our freedom.” Some dude who wants to be the next junior congressman was middle town America will say, “So and so wants to close this plant and put you on unemployment.”

he’s a proponent of military fiscal responsibility no matter what…reduction in budget for these things, increasing special operations budget, stopped funding the navy’s new sub program…i like.
May 1st, 2012 at 11:24 AM
DOD wants it killed, but it’s political. And DOD missed out on chances to upgrade the A-10, F-16 and F-15 airframes (all of which perform better than the JSF).
