Btw I’ve been to plenty of hockey games. i like it fine, but I’m not totally comfortable with the fact that a lot of the hockey crowd seem to walk lockstep with the NASCAR crowd at least from an attitudinal aspect. (Case in point: How Joel Ward was treated by Bruins’ fans.) And then when you think about what black NHL players say they have had to deal with coming up through the ranks, it’s disgusting. I have a Jamaican friend who grew up in Toronto who had to deal with racism when playing and he loves the sport and watches but doesn’t feel that it’s a sport reaching out to all groups. If the NHL was smart, they would snuff out the meme that “hockey is for white people only” because it’s out there.

The Black Guy who took a puck to the face in the first round that ended up scoring a goal for the Flyers. Guess that just doesn’t endear everyone. Unfortunate because Simmonds is a good hockey player.
