North Atlanta Suburbs (Alpharetta).

April 15th is our traditional first plant day. I took a chance with all of the hot weather and it might pay off.

I don’t like to plant squash – squash bugs are a bitch and are attracted to the yellow. Then they migrate to the zucchini. And cucumbers. No squash – no squash bugs.

Tomatoes (5 types), cucumbers, peppers (green, yellow, red, sweet, jalepeno), leeks, garlic, zuchini, eggplant, basil, mint, thyme, rosemary, oregano, strawberry. Did beans for the first time ever – I don’t know if I’m all-in on these. The deer will likely get them.

Zucchini on the grill (charcoal) is awesome. Same for the sweet peppers, as a side with any meat – I put it on my hamburgers. It’s fantastic to pick them and prep them and throw them right on the grill.

Ah, the plant’s only weakness…movement.

I’m lucky – I’ve had mine in the ground for almost a month – I’ve got green tomatoes on a couple of plants. My zucchini were too small and got hit with frost and bit it. Everything else made it (cucumbers,eggplant, beans, herbs)

A month? Wow. Where do you live? Even planting this past weekend, I’m about 2-3 weeks early from the “typical” season. I have a raised garden in my backyard, and with what I already listed, it’s only half full. I’m still going to put in some string beans, cucumbers and squash. I’ll probably put another couple tomato plants as well, just for more salsa.

So if I shoot someone for messin’ with my tomato plants, I can’t use this as a defense unless they’re black? Or must they be white? I’m confused?

It’s still a valid point because the Seminole tribe has given their permission for their name and Osceola’s likeness to be used. So apparently it’s not that offensive.
