Message Board Thread Perfectly Captures Reaction In GIF Form to Seattle Selecting Bruce Irvin
Commenter “The Alex” at Draftcountdown.com won the internet today with his brilliant thread evaluating the first round where, rather than commenting on his thoughts on each pick, he added gifs.
The draft was rolling along nicely until Seattle surprised us all by taking Bruce Irvin as the first pass rusher off the board, when most draft experts had about five or six pass rushers going, none of them named Irvin.
“The Alex” captured the reaction perfectly with a few pictures, worth several thousand words:

Cleveland’s selection of Brandon Weeden resulted in an endless assortment of people laughing, from Stephen Colbert to Larry David. Check out the rest of the first round analysis, as told through the eyes of Stephen A. Smith, the Situation, and the cast of Star Trek.

Commenters at this website are mostly good for cluelessness and getting off-topic BUT if the guys in corporate can get the kinks worked out, we also bring some value as ground-up feed for commenters on other message boards.

Except you guys never would have even known of its existence if it wasn’t for Brawny Tom who posted it in the comments a few hours ago.

I actually saw it on twitter via one of the draft guys I follow. Nobody reads the comments.

The Detroit one is glorious, too.
April 27th, 2012 at 3:46 PM

Downloaded all the episodes last year, some/most still holds up well.

I love that Stephen Colbert gif
April 27th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
It’d be super if we could post GIFs in the comments like that.
Alas.
April 27th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
Is tonight the 2nd and 3rd round, or just the 2nd?
April 27th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
No way, that would be terrible. It would take 2 hours for one post to load if we could put GIFs in the comments.
April 27th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
I am pretty sure we saw it from the same guy on teh twitter.
Anybody seen MS621?

April 27th, 2012 at 3:57 PM
Sweet.
April 27th, 2012 at 3:59 PM
People bitch about how long a page takes to load if there’s too many gifs in the post, imagine a comment section full of them.
April 27th, 2012 at 3:59 PM
So it would speed up the load times?
April 27th, 2012 at 4:00 PM
Intern Mike is going to hang himself when he sees this.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
Apparently none of you frequent the SB Nation blogs.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:02 PM
I contribute to a few message boards where people can post gifs. It makes everything so shitty looking. A link is more than enough. If I’m interested, I’ll click.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:02 PM
Or you forgot this site is run by the Billy Wagner server.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:04 PM
TBL is the only site I need. It’s got everything…even sports.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:04 PM
It really was. Back when sitcoms were original and funny and not a bunch of single people talking about periods and sex partners.
/get off my lawn
April 27th, 2012 at 4:06 PM
I do. I can take or leave the gifs, but it sure would be nice to categorize comments by conversation around here.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:07 PM
Besides blowing up the comments, the only change I would make is an Edit feature…although that may eliminate all future memes.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
I didn’t understand why Stringer was pissed at the Steelers pick, but teh twitter made me aware that since the Wire is in Baltimore, such a great pickup for the Steelers would piss Baltimore fans off.
April 27th, 2012 at 4:09 PM
love draftcountdown
April 27th, 2012 at 4:12 PM
I finally got around to looking at the first down/touchdown data.
My goal was to see if there was a relatively “dead” spot on the field at the 9-11 yard line, where you had further to go on a compressed field, with no chance for a first down. Alternatively, if you were at the 15, you could get a first down while the opponent was protecting the end zone, and have basically 3 extra shots at a TD.
TD rates do rapidly level off from 10-15 yards, but I can’t really tell if that is truly the cause. Gonna do a little more looking.

different website.
Is that the site without thin-skinned diaper rash writers, proofreading and lack of factual errors?
