Here’s a Dad With a Baby Trying to Catch a Home Run Ball at Reds Game
You would think parental instinct would dictate you duck out of the way and protect your child’s soft, not yet fully developed skull. But, really, you can procreate whenever you want. How many chances do you have to catch a home run ball?
The guy should not face any wife trouble, since she ducked out of the way completely. That kid is displaying the level of catatonia only an afternoon watching baseball can induce.

Fixed.

This Dad isn’t one since it was right at him though I guess he qualifies with the baby, but people who are aggressive about catching HR, foul, any baseball really, annoy me to no end.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:15 AM
That is one ugly couple.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:15 AM
jesus, if that woman sitting next to him is his wife he better hope he doesn’t have to procreate again. damn.

Kid’s already coming home with a nasty sunburn. What’s a bump to the head?

Yeah 2 hours 54 minutes of people standing around with the monotony only being broken with truck and beer commercials. Fucking exhilarating.

meth mouth!
April 27th, 2012 at 11:21 AM
So Carl Crawford is out for 3 more months.
Oh, I’m sorry. Are we allowed to talk about sports or no?
April 27th, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Yeah – baseball is a bit slow, but I effin’ hate soccer.
The deciding factor:
Watching my kids play baseball >>>>>>> Watching my kids play soccer
April 27th, 2012 at 11:23 AM
if that nazi goodell was the MLB commish, he’d have wire netting installed around all seating areas for protection.

Would have written about it yesterday had I not been on a field trip. Would also have been bitched at for writing about the Red Sox and not (fill in the blank with your favorite team)
April 27th, 2012 at 11:25 AM
did Yarkwork die while i was away?
the O’s are in first place and Brian Matusz won a game for fuck’s sake! i need to celebrate!
April 27th, 2012 at 11:26 AM
You watch the Game 7′s last night?
April 27th, 2012 at 11:28 AM
Yardwork is now a baseball topic of the day. I’m not sure if they are adding scores at the bottom. /Scrolls up

that’s just the nature of heterosexual relationships, duffy. you’re never going to get it exactly right.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:28 AM
where’d you go?
April 27th, 2012 at 11:29 AM
Touche, Duffy.
I won’t bitch about writing about the Red Sox. They are off to a rough start and it bears mentioning. The AL Central swing seems to be putting wind in their sails though. I kinda wanted someone to type out “1st place Baltimore Orioles” this morning though. Doesn’t happen often. Couple baseball notables:
- Nats Zimmerman likely headed to DL with shoulder concerns. The Nationals are currently tops in the National League.
- Matt Moore with another short start. Relying too much on a fastball that’s down in velocity nearly 4 MPH from last year.
- The Royals won a game!
- What’s wrong with Jordan Walden?
- The Cincinnati Reds have some decisions to make on their pitching staff, both rotation and bullpen.

Your kids sucking at soccer shouldn’t mean you hate the sport.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:30 AM
Yeah, basically. It’s up to the reader to determine which post is geared toward generating discussion of the previous day’s baseball games. This seems like today’s best bet.
If you had told me that Jair Jurrjens would be so terrible he would be sent down to AAA, no way I would’ve guessed Braves would be 12-7. Of course, no way I would’ve guessed they’d have scored the most runs in the NL, either.
If Beachy and Minor stay anything near where what they’ve done so far, going to be a good year in the ATL.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:30 AM
I’m sure the league is thrilled about the ratings bonanza series the West has provided for this round.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:30 AM
Yes. They were both exceptional games. The last 7 minutes of that Rangers-Sens game was fantastic. The Flyers are going to bounce the Devils in five games. Would have likely swept the Panthers.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:31 AM
You would know, ugly.
/JK! Nice beater.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:31 AM
Agreed. Lots of better reasons.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:31 AM
Wait, this happened? Damn. Usually it’s a DL stint or five that gets him every year. Didn’t expect him to get demoted.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:31 AM
The Indians suck.
/1st place suck
April 27th, 2012 at 11:32 AM
1. Sucks, he’s fragile
2. Velocity readings down league wide. Sabathia, Hamels, Verlander, Halladay. The guns are slow and arms are not fully warmed up.
3. Make that two games! Break them up
4. He sucks
5. Put Chapman in the rotation,
April 27th, 2012 at 11:32 AM
Maybe it’s Cincinnati. I was at the final game at riverfront stadium and a batter hit a screaming line drive foul in the lower level down the right field line. A father left his wife and two daughters to try and catch the ball, his smaller daughter got hit in the forehead. She left cryin with the biggest knot I’ve ever seen in 20+ years playing baseball. He deserves never to get sex from his wife again for that move.

Addition to the what the hell is wrong with that guy list:
- Heath Bell [waves at Cousin Ronald]
April 27th, 2012 at 11:33 AM
ive been trying to tell yall…
April 27th, 2012 at 11:34 AM
i like the Braves chances to take the East this year. i’m not buying into the Nats hype machine, given the wins on their resume so far. going 14-5 against Mets, Cubs, Astros, Padres, Reds, and Marlins isn’t that impressive to me. The Marlins and Reds are the only teams in that bunch who won’t finish last in their divison, and the Nats got both at home.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:34 AM
Yep. Happened after his last start. Like, right after. Didn’t even wait until the morning.
And Fredi was pretty clear that it wasn’t an injury issue (at least as far as he knows). His comments even hinted that there were concerns about his conditioning.
Personally, I’m not convinced his right knee is fully healed. He’s obviously not the pitcher that was a contender to start the All-Star game last year, but he’s also not THIS guy.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:35 AM
You would know, ugly.
/runs to bathroom
//looks in mirror
///applies additional hair product
April 27th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
i hope his attempt at catching the ball was way off
April 27th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
Regarding the Nats, their pitching is good, but not this good. They’ve been other-wordly. When that comes back, and particularly if Zimmerman spends extended time on the DL, they’re going to have some issues.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:37 AM
NL East is wide open. A lot of it relies on when the Phillies get the right side of their infield back. I still like what the Nationals are doing. They need to make a move at the deadline for a shortstop that won’t strike out 200 times this year. If Zimmerman can play 120-130 games, they’ll be solid. Harper could be a shot in the arm later in the year.
They have one of the better bullpens in the NL and Drew Storen hasn’t even thrown an inning this year.

same exact thing happened to me at Camden Yards last year only the kid wore it in the mouth. i picked two of his teeth up for him.
/got my baby teeth knocked out prematurely too

The Cincinnati Reds have some decisions to make on their pitching staff, both rotation and bullpen
And Dusty is the man to do it.
/tries to hold in laughter
April 27th, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Really, really hoping this happens. Holding on to him in fantasy for that very reason.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:43 AM
I’d be OK with that if it were true. Reality is that my kid dominated games playing against kids 1 year older and it still sucked.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:44 AM
i just don’t see Strasburg staying healthy with those mechanics and Washington has already stated they don’t plan to change them. Gio is legit and Zimmerman is a strong #3. After that, it’s avg with Jackson and Detwiler.
they aren’t deep enough on offense to avoid going through losing streaks when their pitching isn’t elite.
April 27th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
I was at Cooper Stadium as a kid watching the Clippers with my little league team. A line drive went between all of us kids and hit an old lady square in the glasses.

This is really jarring.

So you’re an O’s fan and a Braves fan?
no, just O’s. but if i had a national league team it’d be the Braves b/c they were always on TV growing up.
