NFL Draft: Michael Floyd to Arizona, Michael Brockers to the Rams, Seahawks Draft Bruce Irvin, Jets Get Quinton Coples
13. Arizona: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame. Paired with Larry Fitzgerald, he should put up big numbers. Kevin Kolb is a happy man.
14. St. Louis (via Dallas): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU. The Rams trade down to grab a beastly (6-foot-5, 322 pounds) defensive tackle. Should shore up an awful defense, but pretty-boy Sam Bradford has got to be pounding his fist and demanding a receiver in the 2nd round.
15. Seattle (via Philadelphia): Bruce Irvin, LB/DE, West Virginia. Bit of a shocker. Didn’t see him nearly this high on any mock drafts (but what do those guys know?). Either way, this sets up the Jets perfectly. They need a pass rusher, and all the best ones are available.
16. New York Jets: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina. Not an enormous fan of his work – he’s hit and miss – and would have preferred Melvin Ingram. How can you not see some Gholston in Coples, Rex? Ugh. I’ll try to stay positive.
17. Cincinnati: Dre Kirkpatrick, DB, Alabama. No surprise here. They got an elite cornerback who should start from week one. Pot bust aside, the kid is a natural.

I watched a lot of LSU the past few years, never even heard of this Brockers guy. Not a good sign.

Safely say Brockers was indeed a stud

Really? Brockers only really played last season, he was a redshift soph. Also LSU rotated 4 DT’s so he was on the field for about half the defensive plays. Showed a ton of flashes, but the ultimate boom or bust pick.

I say that in reference to the TN game. He was everywhere. Other than that my facts say boom.

Jets director of scouting is on the record saying that Coples was better as a junior than as a senior. Great, he’s already on a downward trajectory. Gholston 2.0. Save money by requiring he need to get a sack at some point in his career too.
