New Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze is making recruiting forays into Georgia. He’s using the movie “The Blind Side” as an essential part of his pitch. Guess recruits love them some Sandra Bullock.

“No doubt, it helps … it’s an instant icebreaker for our assistant coaches or me, particularly for kids who have not heard of Hugh Freeze outside of the states of Mississippi, Tennessee or Arkansas — places I have coached,” Freeze told the AJC.

“I think everyone has at least knowledge, if not seen the movie ‘The Blindside,’ the story of Michael Oher, which is a great introduction to who we are and how we want to go about treating your young son if he joins us. I definitely think it’s something we should use [in recruiting].”

Freeze said if a recruit doesn’t bring it the topic in the initial conversations with a blue-chip prospect, he will. “It’s going to get discussed.”

Freeze has already landed a big-time defensive tackle and has the school in play for consensus No. 1 overall recruit Rober Nkemdiche. He should use movies, or pretty much anything to distract from last season’s 2-10 debacle or the hellacious schedules the school will be playing in the future.

Using 2012 as an example, Ole Miss’ SEC schedule gives them road games at Alabama, at Arkansas, at LSU and at Georgia. They will be home dogs against Texas A&M, Auburn, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. Because that wasn’t hard enough, Ole Miss also has to play Texas. It’s early, but we’re liking the under 4.5 wins. Non-conference, they have Texas again in 2013, Boise State in 2014 and Clemson in 2015.
