Ballin’: Tony Allen’s Fake Pass Would Impress the Globetrotters
Memphis 109, Cleveland 101: The Grizzlies kept the pressure on the Clippers with this victory. Memphis is only 1/2 game back of the Clippers for the 4th seed – and homecourt advantage – in the first round. The Tony Allen fake pass is gold Jerry, gold. Allen had eight steals.
Detroit 97, Indiana 103: The Pacers, locked in as the 3rd seed in the East, sat Granger and Hibbert but still prevailed thanks to 27 points and 10 assists from Paul George.
Philadelphia 105, New Jersey 87: The 76ers qualified for the playoffs with the win. They’re tied with New York for the 7th seed. Before the final game the Nets ever played in New Jersey, the state’s Governor talked about the move. “Good riddance.”
Washington 101, Charlotte 73: Worst. Team. In. NBA. History? Twenty-one losses in a row, and 31 of 34.
San Antonio 124, Portland 89: The Spurs locked up the top seed in the West. San Antonio has won eight in a row, all by double figures. Usually, a team does that, you’re hearing about it. Anyone picking the Spurs in the West?
Toronto 86, Milwaukee 92: The Bucks were eliminated from playoff contention with Philly’s win. It’s back to the lottery for the Bucks, who will probably end up with someone like Jared Sullinger in the draft. Milwaukee is set in the backcourt, but one could argue the other three starting positions are wide open.

Great fake. I enjoyed his double dribble even more.

Glad the Sixers made it, but my expectations are low. Just don’t bore me.
As for the Nets leaving New Jersey…..I’m not sure why people wanted Christie to go to the game. I’m not even sure why anyone would attempt to put a non-football sports franchise in New Jersey again.

I asked yesterday and will be the douchebag that quotes myself…
The Bobcats numbers were updated through the game last night.
Third worst win% and worst differential? (Mavericks)
Second worst win% and second worst differential? (76ers)
Worst win% and second worst differential? (Bobcats)
I say Bobcats.

So how much of a chance do we give Indiana against Miami in the 2nd round?
April 24th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Anyone picking the Spurs in the West?
As a life long Spurs fan, I have to say this is the best I’ve felt heading into the playoffs since 2007. Even last year as the top seed I was not confident. This team is playing much better than anyone is giving them credit for.
April 24th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
I haven’t looked at any mock drafts. What kind of player might the Raptors get picking 5th or 6th?
April 24th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
I think they take 2 games and make people start to wonder, but Miami ultimately crushes them in game 6.
April 24th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Around the All-Star break, I picked a Spurs-Bulls Finals. I stand by it.

Definitely no one from Europe.

If this season had been 82 games I would say it wouldn’t even be close.
April 24th, 2012 at 9:59 AM
I said this last week but the Spurs are in the easier half of the West bracket (no Thunder, Lakers, Mavs) and Popovich has been smart with the older guys’ minutes. I’d take them over the Jazz and the Clippers/Grizzlies winner.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
I think this is the biggest reason why they have a good chance of getting thru. Who they face in the conference finals is anybody’s guess.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
The Pisstons are still in the lottery right?
April 24th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Worst ownership ever, too. Before MJ and with MJ.
Who doesn’t tip at the country club, I found out last weekend. But he does drive a sweet Benz.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Less of a chance than I’d give the Knicks.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Probably not this year, but you never know with the Raptors. A guy at work is trying to sell me on them drafting Bradley Beal. Is he a bit of a reach that high in the draft?
April 24th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
Hold up. Did you meet MJ?
I don’t care if he’s an asshole and a shitty owner, he’ll always have god status. He could tell me to go kill myself the first time I met him, and I’d be psyched about it.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
They need to trade Jennings or both Jennings & Ellis… they will never win with that backcourt. Also Ersan is a beast and needs to be resigned and built around…
April 24th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
I’ll be stunned if Bulls make NBA finals, absolutely stunned.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
I say the Knicks push Miami to 7. I think that’s going to be an incredible series if it happens.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
On the Tyrus Thomas ejection
How did the refs not review that before they threw him out??
April 24th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
Nah. My best friend is an assistant pro at one of the Charlotte country clubs and met him last weekend, kept bringing him booze and he just ignored him each time. Kind of what I would have guessed.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
I think this is the biggest reason why they have a good chance of getting thru. Who they face in the conference finals is anybody’s guess.
The only bad matchups for them are the Grizz and the Lakers in my opinion. And they have handled the Lakers well this year. Kobe always kills them though.
They have played OKC well and I like that matchup and the rest of the West doesn’t really strike much fear into me.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
I agree….think the Knicks would push them more than the Pacers would.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
Not enough dunks and double-dribble fake passes as embeddable YouTube videos, I suppose.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
Isn’t this all lopsided by the fact they will be in a bracket with Memphis?
April 24th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
Isn’t Jazz-Grizz-Thunder/Lakers better than Mavs-Lakers-Thunder/Grizz?
April 24th, 2012 at 10:37 AM
I have no idea what you are asking.
Its
Spurs, Memphis, Clippers, Jazz/Suns
Or
Thunder, Lakers, Dallas, Denver.
Id say the team you want to avoid in any case is Memphis. OKC is better off in the #2 because Memphis could certainly take them out.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:41 AM
Sorry, I was looking at it in terms of potential Spurs opponents. As the #1 seed they’ll get Utah, Memphis/Clippers winner, and then the Thunder or Lakers in the WCF. As opposed to being the #2 and getting Dallas first, then the Lakers, then the Thunder or Grizzlies.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:45 AM
Spurs are 4-0 against Memphis this year, FWIW.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:46 AM
I guess it all comes down to who you think the tougher opponent will be Lakers or Memphis. I think the Lakers are the more likely of those 2 to lose in the first round. Especially without Ron Ron.
April 24th, 2012 at 10:53 AM
Good eyes cleet
April 24th, 2012 at 10:58 AM
As long as nobody gets injured in the last game of the season like last year, I’ll stick with my preseason pick, Spurs over Heat.
April 24th, 2012 at 11:01 AM
Spurs Run n Gun style will never work in the post season.
April 24th, 2012 at 11:09 AM
Man, how much of a stomach punch would it be to Suns fans if they did win while playing their SSOL style?
April 24th, 2012 at 11:13 AM
Not too bad. I’m all for more entertaining basketball, even if the Spurs did try to spend a better part of the last 2 decades trying to grind the game to nothing. The game needs to be more open. Having said that if the Spurs make the finals and face the Heat I don’t think they can win.
April 24th, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Without question. And I’m willing to entertain arguments that they are the worst team in the history of all 4 major sports…though I think I’d still cast my lot with the expansion Bucs.
And the Knicks do not stand a better chance against the Heat than the Pacers do, I find that notion absurd enough to vocally laugh about. That said, neither series sees a Game 7. Heat over NY in 5, and over IND in 6.
April 24th, 2012 at 11:25 AM
You’re are probably right YYSA. There are a tough matchup for the Spurs.
April 24th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
Miami would beat the Knicks without breaking a sweat.
