You had a coach who was 8-3 and had just beaten the Patriots in Foxboro in prime time and the undefeated Titans in Tennessee (which was total annihilation mind you) and you’re talking contract extension only to fire him a mere six weeks later after a 9-7 season. Karma is a bitch!

Funny how all of these personnel flops came after he parted ways with Mangini. The thing everyone conveniently forgets is that Mike Tannenbaum was a cap guy hired by Parcells. He never scouted a player in his life. Tannenbaum never replaced quality with quality and he has a coach whose own hubris will make him agree to coach up just about anyone.

How often does it work out when the GM replaced, but not the coach? Who’s to say the new GM likes Rex’s football philosophies?

This is a good point. Woody just absolutely loves him, and I think it would take more than missing the playoffs (something like 5-11) for him to be fired. And I wouldn’t put it past Woody to look for a GM that would want to retain Rex. Not saying it’s smart, because it isn’t, but I think that’s how it would work out.

Also, the Sanchez move looks worse with each day that goes by. He has about 3 games under Sparano to convince me that it was all Shotty’s fault.
