Malaysian Shooter Will Be Nearly 8 Months Pregnant When She Competes In The Olympics
I’m not sure who would keep track of this kind of thing, but when Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi competes in the 2012 London Olympics this summer, she will probably the be the most pregnant competitor in Olympic history. Reuters spoke with the Malaysian shooter.
“I will talk to the baby before I compete… ‘no kicking, stay calm for one hour and 15 minutes only please’”, Suryani told Reuters in an interview at her home shooting range in Kuala Lumpur.
“When I go to London, I will be 33 weeks, when I come back it will be 34 weeks.”
Doctors have told Suryani that as long as she is in such good shape, she should be able to compete up to 9 months in. She will be competing in the 10 metre air rifle competition and has a real chance to medal. Suryani took bronze at the 2010 Asian Games and the gold at the Commonwealth games. Last year she won gold at the Southeast Asian Games.

Fuck the NHL and fuck Brendan Shanahan.

I still don’t get how BB guns are an Olympic event.
April 17th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
I was in a bags tournament once against a pregnant chick, and she was totally on fire. Won the whole damn thing.
April 17th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
This.

pssh…no idea how the prime minister of propecia let this outrage happen.
April 17th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
Big games tonight.
April 17th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
That’s rough. Can only hope it means severe punishment is coming for Asham and Neal… right?

No, Shaw suspended for 3 games. What a joke. I didn’t even think he deserved a major.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:01 PM
Asham’s suspension will carry over into next season. Neal will at most get one game.

Check out the math on this one

I played a lot of cornhole this weekend. My motion is very funky, but once in a while I can get on a nice run.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:06 PM
Aren’t pregnant women supposed to avoid flying long distances (London and Malaysia being on the opposite side of the globe from each other)?
April 17th, 2012 at 3:06 PM
No, Shaw suspended for 3 games. What a joke. I didn’t even think he deserved a major.
He deserved a major. Suspension relates to memo that the league issued earlier this year (following Lucic/Miller) that contact with goalies would not be tolerated.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
Oh BigLeadSports, you slay me..
April 17th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
I played a lot of cornhole this weekend. My motion is very funky, but once in a while I can get on a nice run.
Cornhole means very different things in different parts of the country. I see from the previous comment that you are referring to bean bag throwing, but if I did not have that context, I would start to look at you askance Mr. Cleet.

Asham’s kind of a no name right? He’ll get 5 games. Is Neal more important to his team?
April 17th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
did you even bother reading the fucking link? jesus christ…it said she’s taking a month long boat over, dumbass*.
I didn’t. Funny story though. I’ve been married almost exactly three weeks. My wife and I are doing a delayed honeymoon until June (London and Dublin). The day we booked the flights was the day she was, ahem, supposed to go on with her womanly cycle. It didn’t happen right away, so we were immediately confronted with losing out on a few thousand dollars worth of non-refundable plane tickets. Fortunately nature kicked in a few days later and the trip was still on.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:10 PM
1 if by land, 2 if by rickshaw. (Which would also be by land)

April 17th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
After a certain point in the 3rd trimester yes, only because of the chance of going into labor mid-flight. Its not inherently unsafe for the baby though. This chick sounds like she’ll be close to full term, usually airlines dont allow that.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
I know we went through that disparity before so I left it to appear as a double entendre on purpose. I’ve always called “bags” cornhole.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
I think it’s called cornhole because originally it was a small bag of corn thrown in a hole, but I agree 100% that keeping that name is about the worst marketing idea I’ve ever heard. Just call it “bags” and nobody associates it with being in prison.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:11 PM

Asham has a history of violent behavior though. I honestly would not be shocked if he got more than ten games.
Neal is important but also does not have a history and did not land a hit to the head.
But it won’t matter, they could have everyone and their mother and they’re still losing in Philly tomorrow.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:13 PM
I’ve always called “bags” cornhole.
I dont’ like the scoring in that game.

You aren’t clicking on a link to a Malaysian sharpshooter who is pregnant? Apparently, you are not the target demographic. I found this story mildly interesting.

Duly noted.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:15 PM
I was actually just reading this article which mentions Neal’s history of head shots. And woozy Giroux begs to differ that he didnt land that head shot.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:15 PM

Any other commenter and this would have raised an eyebrow. But not from you.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
We had some contention on how to score it. We had midwestern, northeastern, and southern individuals involved. Some people play like horseshoes, others with counting all points, others with cancelling out points. And it took a long time to decide what the restart point for going over would be.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
This is what my wife and I did (had the honeymoon two weeks ago), and it worked out fantastically. Really glad we did the delayed thing.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
I stand corrected, had no idea about his history of it in Dallas. Well then, might be a few more games carrying into next season then.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
But hey, go right ahead and smash a guy’s head into the boards if you’re a Norris candidate. Everyone read that memo.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:19 PM
Abortions cost 450 dollars
Tip included?
April 17th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
Don’t believe I got to pass along congrats. So….congrats…..and stuff.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
We’ve always found the easiest way to play is 3 for in the hole, 1 for on the board. Cancellation scoring, so if I’m throwing against you and you score a 6 and I score an 8, I get 2. First to 21 or over wins.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
tip’s extra, but the package does include stuffing and mounting the zygote so you can display it to all your family and friends.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
I stand corrected, had no idea about his history of it in Dallas. Well then, might be a few more games carrying into next season then.
Different rules then. Also outside of the timeline to be considered a repeat offender under the CBA. My guess is 2 games.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
DAMN.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:23 PM
You wouldn’t go on a honeymoon if your wife’s period was late? I don’t get it. Do women become invalids when they first get pregnant?
April 17th, 2012 at 3:23 PM
But hey, go right ahead and smash a guy’s head into the boards if you’re a Norris candidate.
As discussed, completely unrelated. But keep on keeping on.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:23 PM
I roll with a Planned Parenthood crew. The stories about tiny bits of limbs flying out are fucking outstanding.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
You on the NHL payroll? Because I’m pretty sure that it’s related. No one in the Hawks fan base is all that upset about the suspension of Andrew Shaw. It’s more the inconsistent suspensions being handed down from the guy that was supposed to save hockey from itself. Star players can get away with murder. Rookies? Watch your step, son.
I can absolutely no idea how you cannot see this. You’re smart.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
It does kinda sound like it..
April 17th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
No, he likes to troll you and the teams you like. There’s no winning here, man. Ignore ignore ignore.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
can = have
If Aaron Asham or James Neal don’t get at least what Shaw did, the inconsistencies roll on. Shaw would have been launched for the series if Smith didn’t play tonight. Hagelin got 3 games for an elbow to the head of an opponent. A star player no less. Carkner attacked an unsuspecting opponent, not during a hockey play, beat the living piss out of him and continued to land punches after his victim went to the ice. He got one game.
Please, NHL employee, show your work.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
It’s more the inconsistent suspensions being handed down from the guy that was supposed to save hockey from itself.
Brendan Shanahan takes marching order from the General Managers who voted earlier in the year to make contact with goalies a focal point. Not sure why it a surprise a guy got rung up for just that.
Star players can get away with murder. Rookies? Watch your step, son.
This is getting tiresome.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
If Aaron Asham or James Neal don’t get at least what Shaw did, the inconsistencies roll on.
Hardly an apples to apples comparison.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
I’m not trying to defend Shanny but to talk about consistency when the things involved are completely different is just downright foolish.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
No, he likes to troll you and the teams you like. There’s no winning here, man. Ignore ignore ignore.
ZOMFG Shanahan did something I don’t like. What a fucking cocksucker.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:32 PM
Neal left his feet to hit Courtier, and then went head hunting on the same shift against Giroux. If he isn’t suspended for the rest of the playoffs and into next season, the Pens will need the SWAT to enter and exit the stadium tomorrow. And f the hand shake too if he doesn’t get suspended.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:33 PM
Still not seeing any work shown for why Shea Weber wasn’t put down for a game. 0/10 is what I give you.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:35 PM
You’re absolutely right. Asham targeted a player who never saw him coming, used his stick as a weapon and then continued his assault with his fists once his victim hit the ice.
James Neal used his shoulder to hit an opponent in the head after a whistle.
Asham, well, that guy has a history. Ring him up. Neal? He scored, like, 25 goals this year right? Parking ticket.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:35 PM
Still not seeing any work shown for why Shea Weber wasn’t put down for a game.
Not sure why you keep repeating this. I’ve said numerous times I felt Weber deserved a one game suspension. He was not suspended because there was no injury on the play.
Hagelin was suspended because Alfredsson has a concussion.
Shaw was suspended because the GM’s voted to make contact with a goalie subject to harsher punishment.
It’s not rocket science.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:36 PM
ZOMFG SC likes the Blackhawks and he annoys me so I’ll make sure I like everything he hates and vice versa!
I’ve voiced my displeasure with numerous calls that have been made by the player safety committee regardless of the players or teams in question. The fact remains 95% of the people who looked at the play think 3 games is ridiculous. You’re trying to be an asshole for your own amusement and it’s tiresome.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:36 PM
I’d appreciate you rationalizing one game for Carkner too.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
You’re absolutely right.
Asham is a multiple time repeat offender and will be punished harshly. Not because he is a plug, but because he is a REPEAT OFFENDER.
The players approved the repeat offender status in the CBA.
Alos, I meant comparing Asham/Neal to Shaw. But I’d hate to get in the way of a good rant. Carry on.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
You get to keep it.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
No you haven’t.
And this is what we should be basing discipline off, yes? Results? Awesome, I’ll relay the message to Brandon Bollig that he can go right ahead and use the boards as a weapon tonight. Just make sure you don’t injure the player enough to where he can’t play next game.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
You wouldn’t go on a honeymoon if your wife’s period was late? I don’t get it. Do women become invalids when they first get pregnant?
She was under the impression that pregnant woman can’t fly long distances. Dallas to London is a long distance. Therefore…..
April 17th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
The fact remains 95% of the people who looked at the play think 3 games is ridiculous.
Because they look at the play without understanding the context of the situation. See comments re: contact with goalies.
SC doesn’t annoy me, he’s one of the people here I enjoy interacting with the most.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
Whoa boy. You guys need to get familiar with google right quick.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
So when a goalie plays the puck behind the net, it’s effectively freezing the puck momentarily because the guy may as well be wearing a gray jersey. Awesome. I’ll pass that along to our mediocre goaltender who needs all the help he can get.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
No you haven’t.

You get to keep it.
Now that’s funny.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
So when a goalie plays the puck behind the net, it’s effectively freezing the puck momentarily because the guy may as well be wearing a gray jersey.
I wasn’t aware there was a “Please don’t touch me” sign on the puck?
April 17th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
Carkner should be done. I thought that was disgusting.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:44 PM
Whoa boy. You guys need to get familiar with google right quick.
Two of her friends who have children both said that their doctors told her not to fly long distances while pregnant. She was going off of that.
Look, this is all moot. Aunt Flo arrived, albeit a few days late, and took care of business. And our trip will still occur and be booze filled. We’re not planning to have children for 2-3 years, so I’m not overly concerned about our lack of knowledge regarding what is and is not permissible of pregnant women.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:46 PM
So are you not using birth control?
April 17th, 2012 at 3:46 PM
Aside from the super fans, I’ve seen plenty of hockey analysts who looked at the play, took into account the fact that it was a goalie involved and still felt 3 games after a game misconduct was a complete joke. Shanahan even managed to describe the hit incorrectly. He said Shaw lead with his shoulder yet the initial contact is helmet to helmet. You can see in EVERY replay that Shaw was attempting to pull up and move towards the boards (i.e. away from the goalie).
April 17th, 2012 at 3:48 PM
im pretty sure that’s why they were refunding the plane tickets to afford all the $450 abortions they plan on having.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:48 PM
The incredible flopping around has got to be taken into account too.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
He said Shaw lead with his shoulder yet the initial contact is helmet to helmet.
Looks to me like helmets never make contact. (0:35)
April 17th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
Why the hell do the Blackhawks, Pens and Canucks get an extra day off.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
I love that Kesler Slip-N-Dive photo Puck Daddy posted on the site. Hilarious!
April 17th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
Shaw’s helmet was cracked. They made contact. He deserved a game, not 3. The others are wildly inexcusable. There is zero consistency in Brendan Shanahan’s rulings for the postseason.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
You can see in EVERY replay that Shaw was attempting to pull up and move towards the boards (i.e. away from the goalie).
I don’t think his intent was the hit Smith. As a forechecker in that situation, understanding how skilled Smith is with the puck (one of the best in the game), Shaw had no business chasing the puck behind the net.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
Wouldn’t worry about it. After tomorrow night the Canucks are going to have plenty of days off.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
Huh? The helmet’s the first thing that touches Smith. You can even hear it.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
Go look through this. So funny. Drew Doughty and Kesler gifs galore.
April 17th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
