Picking the 2011-2012 NBA All-Rookie Team is No Easy Task
The 2011 NBA draft produced a surprisingly strong rookie class. I don’t think anyone will quibble with the pick of Kyrie Irving of the Cavs as rookie of the year. But the task of selecting an All Rookie team is a difficult one. You can actually look at the team three ways: 1) by actual position (PG, SG, SF, PF, C); 2) picking two guards, two forwards, one center; or 3) picking the five best rookies, regardless of position. Given those three options, here are my three teams:
Five Best Rookies, No Position
Kyrie Irving, Cavs – 18.8 ppg, 5.7 apg.
Klay Thompson, Warriors – 11.5 ppg, 43 percent on three-pointers
Kenneth Faried, Nuggets – So beastly. 10 ppg, 7.5 rpg on 58 percent shooting in 40 games. They don’t miss Nene.
Iman Shumpert, Knicks – Probably will make 2nd team NBA All-Defense.
Ricky Rubio, Wolves – Only played 41 games, but averaged 10.6 ppg, 8.2 apg (6th in the NBA), 2.2 spg (3rd in the NBA).
Gs/Fs/C … 1st Team ….. 2nd Team ….. 3rd Team
G – Irving …. Shumpert ….. Brandon Knight, Pistons
G – Rubio …. Thompson ….. Isaiah Thomas, Kings (narrowly over Marshon Brooks)
F – Faried ….. Kawhi Leonard, Spurs …. Markieef Morris, Suns
F – Chandler Parsons, Rockets … Derrick Williams, Wolves …. Bismack Biyombo, Bobcats
C – Tristan Thompson, Cavaliers …. Gustavo Ayon, Hornets …. Nikola Vucevic, 76ers
By Position:
PG – Irving
SG – Thompson. Narrowly over Shumpert.
SF – Parsons. Narrowly over Derrick Williams
PF – Faried
C – Thompson

Picking the 2011-2012 NBA All-Rookie Team is No Easy Task
Jimmer!
/remember when you had him as an honorable mention?
//strange you didn’t link back to that post of yours
April 16th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
here’s that link: http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2012/02/01/nba-season-at-the-13-mark-awards-and-questions/

To be fair…this is a correctly spelled word.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
Also, as far as seasons go…
Thompson would be ahead of Rubio.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
I don’t know what this means.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
2 first teamers and still in the lottery. There is no ceiling in Cleveland people!
/I might believe a little bit of what i just wrote.
//what a dog shit rookie class
April 16th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
Sweet, more NBA posts!!
April 16th, 2012 at 3:22 PM
If you would pick Kyrie Irving to be a college football prospect to compare to a basketball prospect — who would you pick?
April 16th, 2012 at 3:23 PM
Going by the ratings above, your top five underachievers based on draft spots would be:
1. Kanter, Enes
2. Veselý, Jan
3. Walker, Kemba
4. Fredette, Jimmer
5. Burks, Alec

that’s the original Mike Woodson, Atlanta Hawks coach of the year post.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Huh. So when did TBL go back and edit out the Woodson hilarity?
April 16th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
So how might Mike Woodson fair in the coach of the year vote?
April 16th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Meanwhile, spencer’s batsignal was destroyed in a mushroom cloud.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:27 PM
Huh. So when did TBL go back and edit out the Woodson hilarity?
that same day, after catching hell from commenters here on the twitter. Then he blocked people on twitter to punsh them, per as usual.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
i hear someone say they got mushrooms?
April 16th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
I notice he didn’t catch the KMart thing though.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
Alas, MarShon’s slump has pushed him off of the first three teams. He’s rebounded a bit lately, but haven’t compared his numbers to others.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
I thought Mike Woodson COY was first ref’d in a BALLIN.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
LOL. It will still live in infamy.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
HTwown: Jeopardy question…
Do they tape like 12 of those in a day?
April 16th, 2012 at 3:31 PM
The hilarity of the whole Mike Woodson thing is that he was under the payroll of the New York Kickerbockers.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:33 PM
You are really underrating Isaiah Thomas….and probably overrating Shumpert, but that’s expected
April 16th, 2012 at 3:33 PM
Kate, c’mon over here. I got a pair of rocketballz for ya. On the house, darlin.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:33 PM
Nevermind, that WAS it! He didn’t put updated on that. WOW.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:34 PM
Weird. If you’re going to change the awful Woodson error, change the Jimmer thing while you’re at it. Among the many dumb things TBL has written about the NBA this year, Jimmer on the All Rookie team is probably #1.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:35 PM
id give her my 909…d…2…
ok, that one doesn’t work here.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:37 PM
It wasn’t one of those things that progressively became asinine either. That was immediately insane the second it was posted.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
If Jimmer was on the right team, he would be on top of this list.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:38 PM
CJ – you’re gonna want to see this.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
Agree with this 100%. Thomas over Shumpert 10 times out of 10.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
He was trying to get that post up as soon as he could and just named the first 5 guys he could remember from the draft. And Jimmer was probably the first guy he thought of.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:39 PM
Not sure if it’s changed but they used to tape 5. You were told to bring 5 suits/changes of clothes just in case. I only brought 3. If I had made it to a fourth show I would have had to recycle (or buy).
April 16th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
I forgot to keep using cock brigadoon. Fuck.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
Since he edited on the Mike Woodson, COY of the year error, will that make commenter Coach Mike Woodson, Atlanta Hawks fade away, like the siblings in the Back to the Future photo?
April 16th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
The Spencer and Dirt Show on the previous thread is hilarious.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:42 PM
That post also references the “nice pickup” of JJ Hickson and wonders why he isn’t playing more.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
Can someone Jmorris me on the Coach Mike Woodson comment — I can’t seem to remember it.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:45 PM
Grizz…go the post linked herein…and where it says “Larry Drew”…substitute “Mike Woodson”.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:47 PM
Your psyche was busted as soon as you didn’t pack a 5th suit.
Thanks for the info.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:49 PM
Grizz…go the post linked herein…and where it says “Larry Drew”…substitute “Mike Woodson”.
That is FANTASTIC.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:49 PM
Also, understand that 5 months earlier he was named top assistant of your favorite team (after sitting out the entire previous season). Now, imagine that 6 weeks later he becomes the coach of your favorite team.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
I’ve never heard “bitch pig” used before. I’m gonna have to use that later on.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:51 PM
Wow, that was fun. Thanks for bringing it up, I wouldn’t have meandered back into that thread.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:53 PM
has anyone had the pleasure of watching the Bobcats? Is this guy any good, I figured he would be a huge bust.
April 16th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
has anyone had the pleasure of watching the Bobcats?
Even MJ won’t watch that shitshow
April 16th, 2012 at 3:58 PM
OT: Watching “Wag The Dog”. How did I miss this back then? Hilarious, and the war ballad was a hoot. Dustin Hoffman is brilliant!
April 16th, 2012 at 4:00 PM
I forgot to keep using cock brigadoon. Fuck.
just use “azzclown” instead
April 16th, 2012 at 5:53 PM
Oh, Woodson was a legit error in that other post. Errors get changed.
