Is Baylor’s Scott Drew Really Dominating Rick Barnes of Texas?
As absurd as this statement may sound … the answer is yes, according to columnist Mike Finger.
Before facing the Bears in the 2009 Big 12 tournament, Barnes was 24-0 against Baylor. He’s 2-6 since.
From 1999-2009, UT won 17 NCAA tournament games, while Baylor had none. In the last three seasons, Baylor has six, and the Longhorns have one.
And in the most jarring change for the man who once ruled signing day, Barnes no longer gets the best recruits, either. In each of the past three years, Drew’s top recruit (Perry Jones III in 2010, Quincy Miller in 2011 and Isaiah Austin this year) has been rated higher nationally than Barnes’ best signee.
Texas was young last year – three of its best four players were freshman – and the Longhorns lost their best player to the NBA draft (Brown). It finished sixth in the Big 12. Baylor, Kansas, Missouri (Ed. SEC, duh) Iowa St. and Oklahoma State all will probably be better than Texas next year.

Missouri is no longer in the Big 12 so it doesn’t matter if they are better than UT next year

Um. I guess it’ll take awhile to get used to Mizzou in a different conference.

I realize that correlation and causation are not the same thing but this sentence does not exactly refute any of the points which Finger brought up.

Yes, Scott drew is dominating Rick Barnes in every aspect. Every single one. But, this has only been the base for about 3 years. Barnes has done quite well at Texas.

is this like a one legged hobo dominating a one-armed hobo?

Excellent hedge.

Drew has accomplished more than Barnes has and in a shorter term. Barnes’ biggest accomplishment was getting Kevin Durant to attend UT. Maybe UT’s Boosters should get props for that.

did rick barnes and UT get investigated for shady recruiting practices? How else did Baylor get PJIII and Griner?

Shady recruiting, adidas’ coffers, and yet Drew’s Bears still have never sniffed a conference title or beaten a single-digit team in the tourney. Accomplished, indeed.

Yes, Baylor only got pj3 and griner via texts.
