Bobby Petrino, the 51-year-old former coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, is hip to what all the kids are doing these days, which is why he asked colleagues through text messages whether or not he would be fired. He also asked, via text, if the content of his texts could be obtained. Here’s Petrino to athletic director Jeff Long:

“Hey Jeff, I’m just sitting around wondering what I should be doing??,” Petrino wrote. “I just want you to no (sic) how sorry I am that this all happened!!”

That first sentence comes across somewhat lewd and suggestive after the fact, knowing what we now know about the randy head coach. The second sentence sounds like a regretful Friday night, complete with awful grammar. I wonder if Long responded by saying, “for starters, fire whoever has been advising you.” And there’s more.

“Jeff I appreciate how you handled last night,” Petrino texted. “Let me know if we need to get together again.

Jesus coach, get it together and exhibit some self-pride! He’s just not that into you.

Petrino also went on to ask his friend Andy if “they get content off my text.” Apparently they can, coach, apparently they can.
