This news is hardly surprising. Arkansas is probably huddling with its lawyers right now, wondering how to protect the school from a massive lawsuit.
The big news? Dorrell – who Petrino gave $20k to – was making $55k in Fayetteville. Oh, and as a reminder, that cushy job is hers because of her “inappropriate relationship” with the coach who was just fired. [AP]

I dont think a couple people suing over a 50K job is really anything to be worried about. I’m not sure you can even sue, but more likely file a complaint and maybe get a couple grand for their time.

the chick in the picture? Not saying she has the best case since she was a week into a job she got because of her talents, but she is getting more than the 20k that Petrino already gave, in exchange for her to walk away and never set foot on campus again.
For Arkansas, it’s good this accident happened when it did. A year from now, she could really be saying, “yeah, I wanted it to end, but my boss kept pressuring me so I said yes to keep my job.” quid pro quo.

Unless it’s part of her contract that she gets paid out in full if she gets terminated, under no circumstances should she get money from the school. They’re probably trying to check right now if they can fire her without having to pay her anything. They should not have to give her hush money considering 1) shit’s already out in the open and 2) she has given them more than enough cause to terminate her already.
Unless the administration knew it was going on, she has no real grounds to sue them. They might want to avoid litigation simply because just because that hasn’t stopped anyone from suing in the past and the cost of even getting a case dismissed on motions is expensive, but if this was just between Petrino and her, they’re in the clear.
Now if she got the job because of the relationship, which again would be really difficult to prove, that might be a different story altogether.

i know the specifics of this case make it far less likely, but are you saying that in an at-will state, a supervisor can have what they call consensual sex, but if the employee claims they felt pressure to have sex to keep the job, there is no potential claim for sexual harassment? This one obviously presents the potential factor of her being specifically hired to the job because of the relationship.

I thought Arkansas law allowed for consensual sexual relationships between state employees, even if one is in a position of authority over the other.
Play out a sexual harrassment lawsuit – there’s no way the school settles, unless it’s for peanuts. They’ll get her in a deposition and get all the juicy details or each time she gave Petrino a hummer. It’s not something she’ll want to deal with. She’ll end up resigning with a bit of a severance (3 months?).

Did she have the job with the football team before her sexual relationship with Petrino? It’s my understanding that she did not. Many employers require you to disclose sexual relationships between the supervisor and a subordinate. This obviously did not occur in this situation (although it may not have been required). She doesn’t have grounds to sue for a pre-existing sexual relationship. I would have to say this woman will not get a damn thing except maybe from Petrino to shut the hell up. What does the University care? The only thing could be she has dirt on other stuff and I would guess she may just want to be out of the spotlight. She can get some money posing for Playboy in the Girls of the SEC edition.
