Exactly. A great guy that’s a great coach is the desire, but I’ll take Petrino over a Turner Gill seven days a week. I think they can get a good coach ,though. I agree that he’s a top-10 coach in the country, and they probably can’t get another one in the top-10, but they can get close to it. Having said all of that, I’d be shocked if they actually fire him. Maybe I’m too cynical, but I suspect wins will be more important than anything else.

there it is. wins and money. I mean, Arkansas was in the top 10 of most profitable athletic departments (maybe football programs, I don’t remember for sure). but either way, fucking Arkansas. think about that for a minute. Arkansas isn’t in the top 10 of anything except meth busts and obesity.

I think if they were going to fire him, it would have been done already. IMO the admins are tying together every loose end possible to avoid being sued if he stays on. trying to tie together loose ends when you can’t believe a word coming from the main party involved probably is pretty tough.

agreed. what sucks is it is a no-win situation for the AD Jeff Long, and for the University itself. keep him on, and you pretty much let one guy undermine everything involved with the University. fire him, and you let the most successful coach in a long time go, the year they have at least a chance at contending for a NC. it all comes down to $$$, which everyone already knows.
