Jon Heyman Appears to Be the Only Man on Earth Who Thinks the Washington Nationals Will Win the NL East
No Phillies. No Marlins. The Nationals. It felt like one of those, “look at me, I’m going to make a wacky prediction and hope for the best” moments. Did Scott Boras – the agent who probably has half a dozen clients on Washington – put him up to this?
The lowly Nationals, since joining MLB in 2005, have never finished over .500 (finished 81-81 in 2005, then 80-82 in 2011). They’re still a couple years away.
Through opening day (well, all four or five of them – I’ve lost track how many MLB had), Heyman seems pretty happy with his pick.

Actually, Marlins or Nats seem to be the sexy pick for the NL East in a lot of places. The argument goes: Phils too old/injured, Braves blew out their arms, Mets just plain suck.

That ’94 Expos team is one of the biggest “What ifs” in the history of sports. That was a loaded team and they were running away from their division.

That kate upton easter video someone linked to in the Warren Sapp thread is fabulous.

Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio said the same thing. I forget if he’s on Power Alley or Inside Pitch, but he definitely agreed that the Nationals have the capability to put it all together this season and take the division.

Plus all the points Nada just said.

It’s not exactly a ridiculous notion. It’s not the chalk pick, though, so if you don’t know anything about baseball I can see why it would seem like an attention grab

Why not? They’ve plenty of talent both pitching and hitting. If they can come together, it’s not difficult to see them winning 85 or so.
Right now, we don’t know what we’re going to get out of most of these teams. Let’s look back at it by All-Star break and see if it’s holding true.

I never know whether to give credit, or dismiss it as blind luck… but it is amusing to go back and read your comments/tone of that post. To say you were arrogantly dismissive would be generous.
