Torii Hunter’s House Alarm Went Off Today and then the Newport Beach Police Asked Him to Get His ID at Gunpoint
Torii Hunter apparently lives in a very posh part of Newport Beach, known as Newport Coast. That is probably why when Hunter’s alarm system went off today, the police responded quickly and effectively. Despite the fact that the cops later said they were Angels fans, they didn’t recognize the 4-time All-Star, so they asked for his ID. Since Hunter didn’t have any identification on his person, the police walked him “upstairs at gunpoint” to get his ID. Luckily, there were no hard feelings as Hunter just seemed happy to know that his home was protected.

OK? I wish every job was as easy as people think cops’ jobs are.

Asking him for his ID? He must have been trying to vote in Kansas yesterday.

Cops must have been racist.

So if he owns the house why was he breaking and entering?

Certainly not black and white. takes real strenuous detective work to realize that the guy who approaches to find out what you are doing on his property is legit…Bet he had on camouflage and maybe a hoodie. Probably had his steel toe hikers on. A jacket concealing a weapon. Hey man, they were really taking a chance being outmanned 1 man no weapon, to 2 men with firearms.

So, predictable. Yes, the only exit ramps were either let a burgler in or draw on him (in a colorblind way of course).

Really? 10 comments and no link to the Chappelle skit?
“well, let’s sprinkle some crack on him and get out of here”

Also… guess which tweet was ‘recommended’ by his agent.

There’s no need to draw on anyone unless someone is resisting, not complying with orders, or acting as if they have a weapon. And I’m supposed to believe that Hunter was acting like that? If it had been a 16 year old white girl the guns would have stayed in the holsters.
And the sad thing, I bet some of the cops were black.

Geraldo is reporting Hunter was wearing a hoodie, which set off the alarm when he put the hood up.

In this day and age, I am stunned that it wasn’t common knowledge on the police force that Hunter lived there. In most American communities, I get the impression the cops are well aware if a famous/notorious person lives in a certain area.

Ha!

I’d agree but we’d have to know this PD’s policy on responding to a potential B&E.

I heard the story this morning and they said the cops had their guns drawn but at their sides, not pointed at Hunter. If that’s the case, it seems reasonable since they were going to the house on an alleged B&E.

I’m not seeing the problem here. Cops have a tough job when dealing with potential B&Es.
