At Least One Member of the Milwaukee Media Seems to Be Sick of Ryan Braun’s Coy Act
Well, this is interesting – at least one member of the Milwaukee media, which has largely given reigning NL MVP Ryan Braun a pass when it comes to all the synthetic testosterone that was in his system, is sick of Braun’s bullshit answers when fielding questions about beating the drug suspension. Michael Hunt of the Journal Sentinel delicately asks Braun to shut up or come clean:
By being so actively evasive and coy about a story that somehow needs to be put to rest, Braun is only giving his detractors more ammunition to assume he’s hiding something.
It is almost as if Braun wants “the real story” as he perceives it to emerge, but not from him. He has already floated the conspiracy theory, but so far nothing has stuck to the person who handled his urine sample. In fact, that line of defense is looking less relevant with the passage of time.
As well as Braun handled himself at his first news conference, in retrospect maybe he would have been better off by not mentioning others at all.
So unless a lawsuit is going to be filed by Braun, what harm would come from him telling the story as he sees it?
Your move, Braun. [Journal-Sentinel]

I honestly didn’t have a dog in this fight until I missed my bus and therefore missed the first two rounds of my money league draft and got stuck with Braun at the end of the first. So now I have to be firmly on Team Braun. This feeling sucks.
April 4th, 2012 at 4:39 PM
Is this a big deal amongst baseball fans? I don’t care for the sport, so I’m obviously biased in that I don’t give two shits about this, but it seems like most baseball people would just prefer this shit go away.
April 4th, 2012 at 4:40 PM
His name is Mike Hunt.

Goodness.

I’m sick of it because he was guilty.

The World Series Champs should get opening night home openers every year. The Marlins getting it just because of a fruity new stadium is bullshit.
April 4th, 2012 at 4:46 PM
Should’ve had it at the Haggar Pants Arena.

Based on inadmissible evidence. As a democracy, you have to know that one.
And, it certainly hasn’t been ruled out that the delay could cause the issues.
/Not sure if he is or isn’t

He’s approaching this horribly. Braun really needs to fire his “strategist.”

I was a big supporter of his initially because baseball violated its own collectively bargained procedures, and because I thought it was crap that this was leaked to begin with. Having said that, he lost me when he started calling out the collector and presenting no evidence to support that. Either put up some evidence or just shut the hell up (which he has every right to do).
April 4th, 2012 at 4:51 PM
Nice post, Mr. Hunt.
April 4th, 2012 at 4:53 PM
Beat me to it!
April 4th, 2012 at 4:54 PM
Loudly rooting for him to fail. Mostly because he’s a Brewer, herpes spreader and shops where Gronk does. Lesser reasons include this botched test and he’s not on my fantasy team.
April 4th, 2012 at 4:55 PM
What’s worse: Braun’s deliberate obfuscations or some media members blatant disregard for what does and does not count as evidence?I guess because Braun’s main job is to be just a ball player, his sin is the lesser one.

Braun smashed a double off the 413ft CF wall in AZ pretty much while this was posted…which is nice.

Seems how he was able to get the “case” overturned, he must’ve put up some evidence.

In other news, Jim Gantner finally signed his card for the 1983 Fleer Project.

the dude is just going to make an emotional confession sometime later in his career, probably extremely vague and likely in a heartfelt special on ESPN as he is interviewed by John Kruk
April 4th, 2012 at 5:01 PM
McIntyre: the TBL baseball troll. In all seriousness, I could not care less about Ryan Braun’s drug test.
April 4th, 2012 at 5:02 PM
Mike Hunt. Beautiful.
I’m not entirely certain Braun is too worried about your critique of his next move, JMac.
Was he probably on something? Yep.
Was the testing protocol followed? Nope.
Should we get away with whatever he did or did not do? Yep.
Is the way he’s handling it dickish? Yep.
Is ‘Your move, Braun.’ dickish? Yep.
Moving on?

Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson would agree that being found not guilty because of a technicality definitely exonerates you in the court of public opinion.
April 4th, 2012 at 5:09 PM
I’ve always wondered if that’s a shot of Bruno Kirby in Taguchi’s avatar. Maybe now I can get an answer.
April 4th, 2012 at 5:10 PM
This also doesn’t really make a lot of sense, but I actually enjoy these posts because it reminds me that Ryan Braun will not miss a single game due to suspension this year…which is also nice.

Hey, that new book by that private dick says OJ’s son did it.

I was actually referring to a tasteless attempt at humor by JMac back during the Jerry Sandusky mess when he, JMac not Sandusky, openly wondered if the disappearance uncle of a commenter here named Tony had anything to do with Sandusky. And the fact that JMac disingenuously banned you kept you from sharing in that post with us last fall.

Disingenuous? He’s waiting on an apology that’s already come. Your move, TST

I will be shocked if he posts a number that well this season. Not because he is off drugs but because the Prince is no longer providing the protection.

Touché.
April 4th, 2012 at 5:33 PM
Can Dino the pee collector sue Braun?
April 4th, 2012 at 5:49 PM
To be fair to Casey and OJ, a jury actually determined that they weren’t guilty. Braun didn’t refute his guilt to the panel, he just got off on a procedural technicality.
April 4th, 2012 at 5:53 PM
Word of the day toilet paper?
April 4th, 2012 at 5:57 PM
Calling it a technicality doesn’t do the fuck up justice…there’s a reason the handling policy is in place for scientific reasons and they blew it
April 4th, 2012 at 6:05 PM
And, it certainly hasn’t been ruled out that the delay could cause the issues.
This is quite possibly the dumbest thing ever posted on the internet.
April 4th, 2012 at 6:09 PM

The handling policy is just chain of custody. There is no mysterious “science” going on in a refrigerated pee sample.
April 4th, 2012 at 7:30 PM
Either you believe that someone snuck synthetic testosterone into the sample or you believe Braun doped. There’s no third option. Jesus Christ didn’t come down and miraculously turn organic urine into synthetic steroids.
