Kevin Durant is Not a Skip Bayless Fan: “That Guy Doesn’t Know a Thing”
Skip Bayless rips Russell Westbrook for shooting too much and denying opportunities to Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant thinks Bayless is “just a funny character” and his logic, in this instance, is asinine.
Durant disagrees with the notion he should be shooting more.
“We’re worse when I take more shots,” Durant said. “Like I said, that guy doesn’t know a thing. I don’t think he watches us. I think he just looks at the stats. And traditionally, a point guard is not supposed to take more shots than everybody else on the team. But we’re better when he does do that and he’s aggressive. And I’m better when I’m out there facilitating, rebounding, defending and being more efficient on my shots with less shots.”
He finds Bayless’ Westbrook obsession “sickening.”
“I’ll stick up for all my guys, especially against a guy that I have never seen at an NBA game before. It just starts to get sickening when you hear somebody talk about your teammate like that almost every day. So I’ll stick up for him every single day.”
Durant is averaging 27.5 points, shooting 50.2 percent from the field on 19.5 shot attempts, though Westbrook has been nearly as efficient this season, averaging 24.5 points, shooting 47.4 percent on 19.3 shot attempts. As Thunder Rumblings points out, “the Thunder is 20-4 when Westbrook takes more shots than Durant, and Oklahoma City has won by an average margin of 12.4 points in those victories.” But, why let stats and credibility be a hurdle for the big, wildly important goal?

God is dead and that picture killed him.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:25 PM
now THIS is a reason to root for him.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:25 PM
I think it’s photoshopped.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:26 PM
As per the image: “My eyez! The goggles do nothing!”
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:26 PM
Skip moves the needle. Loving these posts. Pageviews. Eyeballs.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:26 PM
Good for Durant, but at the same time this is what that clown wants. He wants the attention.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:29 PM
Skip wins again. Loves that he sticks to his guns in the face of all the criticism. It’s Skip against the world and honestly, Skip is at his most dangerous when there’s a chip on his shoulder. Bad move by Durant here, just giving Skip more bulletin board material.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:32 PM
Yup. We’re just feeding the monkey……man
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:32 PM
It’s so awesome when someone is wrong and refuses to admit it.

April 3rd, 2012 at 2:32 PM
Didn’t know there was good money in Eels.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:33 PM
I tend to agree that evening mentioning him means Balyless kinda wins and gets exactly what he wants, but Durant makes some good points, too.
Meh, makes me like Durant a bit more. Guy is the man.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:34 PM
This is even more crazy than the shit Skip says.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:34 PM
Skip moves the needle.
He does???!!
As for Durant, I’d hope he was aware enough to realize that the Thunder won’t be measured on their regular season stats but on how they do in the playoffs.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:35 PM
That kid’s pretty bright. Yeah, I know commenting at all gives that troll more attention, but I still appreciate Durant calling him out in an intelligent fashion.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:36 PM
Just when I thought I liked Kevin Durant, he has to go and do this and make me have a serious man-crush on him and turn that like into love.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:37 PM
Why exactly is Skip such a “troll?” Honest question. What are the insane opinions that he has? He takes a side of many debates..it’s not like he creates a side that doesn’t exist.
I always think he does a very solid job of backing up his points, even if I think he’s full of shit on something.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:38 PM
Kevin man, he’s a troll. It’s humanly impossible for him to watch the amount of games he says he watches on a daily basis. I can’t tell you the amount of times i have heard him say “I’ve watched every minute of every game (so and so team) has played this year!” The guy is a beauty.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:38 PM
You would think, of any week, this would be the week that the TBL staff, when confronted with writer’s block, boring links, a lack of originality, ratings figures not quite fitting the narrative, that Tiger Woods would be mentioned once or twice. He moves the needle too.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:38 PM
If he came out with a stance and everyone agreed with him, he would flip flop faster than John Kerry.

April 3rd, 2012 at 2:39 PM
But what it does is removes the media reporting on the fictitious schism in the Thunder locker room.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:39 PM
This a joke?
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:39 PM
The Thunder has to be the most likeable team in the league. Go Thunder.
Well, except for the whole Seattle thing but that’s not the players fault.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Didn’t know there was good money in Eels.
if i had more money to play with i’d start a campaign (and a farm co-op) to feed the hungry with crickets. lotsa protein man
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:41 PM
quick question…
what is your definitions for “troll” and “full of shit?”
because, in my world, when someone goes on TV and says a bunch of stuff that’s full of shit for argument’s sake, they’re a troll.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:41 PM
He plays a part in a TV show. That’s all he is. You can’t be intelligent and think Tebow is a good QB. You just can’t.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Didn’t know there was good money in Eels.
Novocaine for the soul, my man.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:41 PM
were you playing the “meow” game from Super Troopers just then, but with Skip?
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:43 PM
For Denver? He was good enough. That’s all that matters right? I don’t think Skip ever said he was an elite quarterback.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:44 PM
if i had more money to play with i’d start a campaign (and a farm co-op) to feed the hungry with crickets. lotsa protein man
I’d imagine it being like at the dinner scene from Temple of Doom.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:45 PM
i consider myself marginally intelligent and think tebow’s a good QB, albeit in an unorthodox manner.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:45 PM
Skip is like a TV version of TBL, no?
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:45 PM
I was hoping you’d see my poopie suit comment in the other thread, Spence.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:45 PM
while I too would like to talk some golf, I really don’t feel like this is the place for informed opinions from the writing staff on that subject. unless you really want to hear about some guy named Hunter Mayhan or some guy named Kyle Stanley.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:46 PM
SG…i haven’t seen that episode. big lol. mst3k is the best.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:46 PM
/fix’d for accuracy
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:47 PM
He would say things like, “all he does is win.” Great fucking argument there.
And Spencer, would you want Tebow as the starting QB of Cleveland? If your choices consisted of drafting any QB after the top 2 this year or Tebow?
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Nope. I agree. But I don’t venture out much further than this on the Internet. And the comments are always better anyway. That’s what I’m after.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:48 PM
while I too would like to talk some golf
A friend invited me on his podcast / blog for a Masters preview. If you’re desperate for a preview.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Let’s get one thing straight, this is Shooter’s tour. I’ve worked hard my whole life, paid my dues, and now it’s Shooter’s turn. And Shooter’s not about to let his reign at the top be spoiled by some freak, sideshow, clown.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:51 PM
It might be one of the most boring, plot-less movies ever. It just shows planes refueling mid-air and boring conversations between pilots.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:51 PM
When it was really more like teams trying to figure out new and retarded ways to lose. See Dolphins, Bears.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:51 PM
nice…wait, your name isn’t “hans?”
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:51 PM
I wouldn’t mind some golf talk or hell…TSH finishing the Baseball previews when the season starts in two days!
/last week and tomorrow night don’t count

April 3rd, 2012 at 2:52 PM
Why exactly is Skip such a “troll?” Honest question. What are the insane opinions that he has? He takes a side of many debates..it’s not like he creates a side that doesn’t exist.
It’s one thing to take a side in a “debate” where you have an informed opinion. It’s another thing to come up with things out your ass (which is what Skip does).
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:53 PM
It’d depend on the price.
If Cleveland could keep all of their draft picks and get Tebow, you’d have to think hard about that.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:53 PM
boring even for mst3k? because, all things considered, that sounds like the perfect vehicle for them.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:53 PM
i always enjoyed his argument that lance armstrong wasn’t an athlete b/c cycling wasn’t a “ball sport”.
i don’t think he was going for the pun either.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Seems like it’s only “uninformed” when you disagree with him or his opinion is divergent from yours or the commenters here. Again, him touting Tim Tebow as a “winner” or a decent qb is not the craziest thing that’s ever been said in professional sports. Yes, I think Tebow kinda sucks, but I don’t call the guy a troll b/c his opinion is different from mine.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:55 PM
am i coach? because yea…i could hire some spread geniuses out of college ranks and shake the NFL up.
if shurmur’s coach? FUCK NO. “why can’t you thread this needle, tim? well we’re going to have you do it 400x per game anyways UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT. oh, and the defense knows what’s coming to, so you better thread it well.”
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:56 PM
I was humanized long ago. Clay, Bill… Clay
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:57 PM
At one point they don’t even make any jokes. They just comment on how completely boring the movie is.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:57 PM
i call him a troll for his nicknames like “TO…team obliterator” and “queen james.” it’s obnoxious.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:58 PM
awesome.
jesus christ…that’s a horrible indictment for the original. too boring to snark on.
April 3rd, 2012 at 2:59 PM
Listening. Rory…Tiger…Phil.
Out of $30k in the pot, Tiger went for $4800 in my local Calcutta.
April 3rd, 2012 at 3:01 PM
i can imagine phil and rory took up enough to cover the remaining half of that pot.
April 3rd, 2012 at 3:05 PM
Each went for about 1/2 that. It was a quantity year. People bought lots of golfers.
April 3rd, 2012 at 3:12 PM
I like Geoff O. at 100-1. Best value bet out there. He’s had 2 great finishes and slowly adapted his calendar to the majors.

McDowell, Graeme 70/1 – was in final group 2 weeks ago

I love how people say Skip moves the needle. Exactly what other sports program is on at 10am to compete with First Take?
