According To Mike Wilbon, the Colts Are Still Considering Robert Griffin III
On ESPN Radio 980 yesterday morning, Michael Wilbon mentioned that the Colts were still considering taking Robert Griffin III instead of Andrew Luck. Wilbon said that he talked to some people over the weekend that have knowledge of the Colts situation, and says that there is divided opinion in Indianapolis.
“And I’m told that the main reason they are is because there are people in the organization and people they consult — and now you consult all these different people about something a s important as a number one overall draft pick, a maybe once in a generation pick. And they are of the opinion, some people that are having input into this pick, that RGIII is better in the pocket.
Then, this morning, Jim Irsay and his merry Twitter account said that the team had a private workout with Andrew Luck today, and that they tried to schedule a private workout with Robert Griffin III, but his agent declined.
Why would Griffin’s agent decline a request from the team with the first overall pick for a private session? Is it because he thinks it is a smokescreen (and I’m not sure why the Colts would need to do that, no one can get in front of them)? Or does he prefer his client end up in Washington because he views the Colts’ rebuilding situation as worse, and the money difference thanks to the rookie wage scale is not as much a factor?
Either way, if Griffin III does end up going to Indianapolis instead of Washington, then these thongs I bought might be a collector’s item.

Hasn’t Griffin’s camp has declined all requests for private workouts?

I will only believe what Rob Lowe has to say about the matter.

Maybe because his client realizes he’s guaranteed to be chosen in the top 2 pick and would rather play in DC than Indianapolis, (because who wouldn’t rather be in DC?)
/Only way the Colts don’t take Luck is if he has to have his arm amputated.

Has nothing to gain from a private workout, only something lose.

This is the only plausible explanation. Indianapolis and DC are as different as two NFL cities get for a young black male.

They might end up being worth more than the Marv Albert french maid line.

you would think wearing those stupid hipster glasses would knock him down at least a couple spots.

This is part of the same smokescreen that had Irsay last week saying they hadn’t decided on Luck. They’re trying to keep his price down in the pre-draft negotiations by bluffing they’ll take RGIII.

don’t the rookie contracts already kind of do that though?

You realize that not only do the Skins suck, but they also traded a bunch of picks to get Griffin, and got their ass kicked by the Commish on the salary cap? If Griffin’s agent thinks they have an easier rebuild, he should get a new agent.

If Luck tore his ACL tomorrow, how likely would it be that Indy goes with Griffin?

The guys at KSK had a pretty funny article about this yesterday and why Wilbon is such a douche. I enjoyed it. That is all.

Why would Griffin’s agent decline a request from the team with the first overall pick for a private session?
Because his client would be getting used by the Colts as a pawn in their negotiations with Luck, who will be their pick?
No offense to RG3, but you don’t release Peyton Manning for him.
