Shat, I agree. Let the sleep on them. They had 2 bad weeks to open the year and end the year. If they play .500 ball they are in the playoffs. Gonzalez and these guys are still nasty. I am just worried about Bailey now.

I hope all the writers for TBL remember this contract extension, along with McCutchen’s contract, Longoria’s contract, Matt Moore’s Contract, the A’s getting Cespedes, and the Reds getting Chapman….next time they want to argue baseball needs a salary cap.

Before harping on a salary cup, look at the six years of team control structure. It does a lot to improve competitive imbalance…like enable extensions like this one.

The Sox signing of Gonzalez to 7 years $154 mill deal looks great. Just too bad Theo had to open Henry’s checkbook for a few free agents instead of making great trades like he did for Gonzalez.

I’m kind of shocked on how quickly the media has decided that team is dead in the water. Sure the Rays have pitching and the yankees have a good offense, but outside of those last few weeks the Red Sox were on pace to win 100. The loss of Francona, Varitek and Papelbon mean that much?

I don’t know of any that have that, but the Fangraphs recent posts on Organization Rankings has had some figures.
