Ballin’: The Heat Are Struggling! The Celtics Are Back!
Boston 91, Miami 72: Are the Celtics – 15-5 since the All-Star break! – contenders again? Why are the Heat in such a 2-week tailspin? Answers: Sort of and doesn’t matter. Rajon Rondo: 16 points, 14 assists, 11 rebounds. Ray Allen missed his sixth game in a row (ankle), but they’re 5-1 without him. Chris Bosh shot 2-of-11 and LeBron had a -30, his worst of the season.
LA Lakers 120, Golden State 112: Kobe on his critics: “The amount of idiots that live out here after 16 years is baffling. … I guess people just get dumber over the years.” Kobe scored 40. Andrew Bynum played only 10 minutes before leaving with an ankle injury. Nice hops, Dorrell Wright.
Minnesota 106, Portland 119: Aldridge scored 26, Batum added 24, and the Blazers passed the Timberwolves in the (futile?) race for the 8th playoff spot in the West. Kevin Love “only” scored 26 points and collected nine rebounds, and it was the first time since March 12th he didn’t have a double-double.
Denver 104, Orlando 101: No Dwight Howard (back injury – more later) resulted in the Magic’s third straight loss. At this rate, Orlando’s struggles plus Boston’s improvement means the Magic could slide to the 4th seed in the East. They only lead Boston by 1.5 games with 13 games to play.
Toronto 99, Washington 92: Jan Vesely … with authority. The Wizards aren’t tanking for Anthony Davis – they just suck. A Davis/Nene frontline next year would certainly be a step in the right direction.
Oklahoma City 92, Chicago 78: The Thunder dunked and dunked and rolled the Rose-less Bulls. Right now, it sure feels like the Thunder are the best team in the NBA.

This movie looks so badass. Only issue is having the Twilight chick in the role of Snow White when put up against the pure hotness of Charlize Theron, as the creators of roofies clearly had her in mind at the time.

I made it through a whole quarter and a half of the Bulls game. Happy the team is handling Rose’s injury with caution.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Miami looked apathetic yesterday. That was fun for me to watch as a Celtics fan.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:38 AM
I guess as a fan you should take this position, but I would be worried if I were you. Groin and back issues? Yikes.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:42 AM
Bloody groin, no less. He’s young. Takes less time to heal. The back is fine now. His groin is the problem and it’s moving slowly right now. If he’s back for the playoffs that’s all the Bulls need. Just happy they’re not rushing him.

They’re good enough to be in a position to do with Rose what the Knicks should be doing with Anthony and Davis at this point. D. Rose will be fine.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
I’m going to laugh my mother fucking ass off when Sidney Crosby has a longer career than D Rose.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Good for you, mole.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
I just hope that whoever filled out Rose’s insurance forms for him in his name didn’t make any typos when the Bulls try to cash in his policy.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Anybody think Rose will be back before the playoffs?
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:49 AM
i think rose will probably retire and never be heard from again.
/high fives mole

why won’t the Celts just go away?
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:51 AM
Why risk it? If they can position themselves for a first round matchup with the Knickerbockers they won’t even need him until the second round.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:54 AM
It’s remarkable the Bulls have done as well as they have without Rose. Thibs is a helluva coach.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:57 AM
I agree, but does anybody else think this takes some shine off of Rose’s MVP trophy last year? And speaking of MVP’s, Rondo needs more consideration this year.
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:58 AM
Thibs with OKC would win 70 games (out of 82).
April 2nd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
No.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:00 AM
No thanks.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:01 AM
Can’t really take shine off something that’s primer-gray dull as is.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:05 AM
It’s LeBron’s year unless he has a disastrous finish. Then you have Durant and Love in some order. Kobe will probably get some love too but he’s shooting worse than Monta Ellis right now. He’s also the only player in the league to attempt more than 20 fg’s per game and he’s at 23.5!
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:10 AM
Fun stat: During the Ray, Pierce, and Garnett Era, Boston has had one Top 10 finish in offensive efficiency in his career. That is amazing.
Granted those guys haven’t been in their primes the entire time, but they were all effective offensive players. Rondo is overrated.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:17 AM
I hadn’t looked at the efficiency ratings in a few weeks. The Knicks are back up to number 4 in defensive efficiency? Despite Tyson Chandler’s presence that still seems surprising.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:18 AM
The Heat have struggled since the Chris Bosh cross-dressing situation was made public.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:20 AM
yes certainly. I agree with all shots fired at the Chicago Bulls.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:20 AM
Played a bunch of shit teams lately, and the Orlando game makes the DEF number look really good.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Their D has actually been really stout, with Chandler in the middle and Shumpert on the perimeter. Melo has also been doing work on that end, I don’t know if that lasts though. I’m also sure the rating has gone up since Amare got hurt.
April 2nd, 2012 at 11:56 AM
that, and they’ve been playing great defense.
April 2nd, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Yeah, those are season-long figures, complete with stints of Lin, a ton of Amare and lots of Melo, not to mention oft-maligned D’Antoni. Is Chandler THAT good or are the others unfairly singled out as defensive liabilities?
April 2nd, 2012 at 12:12 PM
Chandler is that good is the primary reason.

why won’t the Celts just go away?
Ummm NBA record 17 championships, storied tradition full of history and immortal greatness…. should i continue??
April 2nd, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Anthony’s defense during this run has been very good. Lin had his moments. Even Amare turned up his level. The biggest factor is they’re no longer switching on everything.
April 2nd, 2012 at 2:09 PM
Even so, it’d be nice if they went away. Garnett has a great second career ahead of him in initiating fights with and intimidating guys at least a foot shorter than him on the streets.
