I’d read that Dartmouth frat/hazing article yesterday. The Vomlet and such was terrible. The part about the guy losing all his dental enamel due to puking so much was almost jarring.

Best Buy is closing stores and cutting $800 million in costs …
They can burn in hell, for all I care.
I know that the economy has stopped me from going to BB a lot. I used to visit to just grab something that was on sale or just browse around. Not anymore. I rarely drop by and, if I do, it’s specifically for whatever I’m after.
Multiply me x 10,000,000 and BB was screwed.
March 30th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
Best Buy’s troubles affect (indirectly and rather positively) the company and industry I work for. It’s hysterical how poorly they’ve run that company since the advent of the internet. Almost all of their profit comes from accessories. With the rise of monoprice, Amazon, NewEgg, etc, that all went away. The era of stupid people buying $100 HDMI cables are over. They ripped their customers off for years and now they’re paying for it. Shed no tears for BB.
March 30th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
But I bet their mosquito population is non existant!
March 30th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
go on…
March 30th, 2012 at 8:58 AM
Shit…Walmart wins again. Their aggressive expansion of the electronics section was a direct attack on BB.

Why Tablets in the Classroom Could Save Schools $3 Billion a Year.
Let’s just cut more teachers and lower teacher salaries first.
March 30th, 2012 at 8:59 AM
Not even just the economy, I was watching a special on CNBC or something that said people were just using Best Buy to browse, get advice from the sales people, and try out devices, then buy them cheaper on Amazon.

March 30th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
that’s essentially what i do. Best Buy should really just be a TV retailer, i don’t think i’ll ever be one to buy giant TV’s online and have to deal with that return process if there’s an issue with it.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
gawwwww
March 30th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
people were just using Best Buy to browse, get advice from the sales people, and try out devices, then buy them cheaper on Amazon.
I can do you one better. The Amazon price check app lets you scan the bar code of an item at a store, and pulls up the same item and its price.
/probably Duckworth’d, but thought I’d mention it anyway.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
I think Amazon is more the culprit here rather than Wal Mart. I can easily buy a videogame on Amazon and have it a day or two later and often I’ll get a $10-20 credit or some other deal.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:03 AM
They can burn in hell, for all I care.
go on…
Got accused of theft in a BB once. Here in the Springs, in fact. Went in with papers in order, and some ill-trained child accused me of doctoring a receipt. And, OBTW, a coworker of mine at USAFA was in line a few feet behind me. I was mortified and completely brassed off.
To me, they should’ve gone under years ago.
But, nah. “It’s just business, never personal”.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Exactly.
No way. Treme and The Wire can battle that one out.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:04 AM
don’t worry, there’s enough administrators that would like tablets to do all the “teaching” for the teachers. like, the superintendent of my wife’s district. He wants to get tablets so they can have writing programs, where they enter in the words and the program completes sentences for them.
i weep for our future.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:05 AM
I can see where this is coming from. I talked to my wife about this last weekend because I had to go to Best Buy to buy a new router. I had some questions, the associate was very helpful, and I was in an out in 10 minutes. That’s why I didn’t even consider going to Wal-Mart.
I understand why people have been predicting BB to out out of business, I just find it hard to believe.

March 30th, 2012 at 9:06 AM
They can’t. The margins on TVs are like 5 percent.
Appliances give them a chance, albeit a small one. No one wants to buy stoves or fridges on the Internet (yet). They’re also expanding into the home technology sector with Magnolia-esque sections of the store that offer security, intercoms, music, automation, etc.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:07 AM

I always find it hilarious when my in-laws buy a new piece of electronics because they always buy from Best Buy and always end up with more than they originally planned. “Well we wanted a new TV and the guy said we better get this sound bar too and then we needed all new cables because ours were too old.”

They still talking about it, damn NFL eats up every other sport. Isn’t there a basketball game this weekend or something?

As someone who used to work at the BB corporate office, they can all promptly fuck themselves.
Great article from a couple months back why Best Buy is fucked. They do things that are only convenient for themselves and their corporate structure, which ends up with laughably stupid premises like competing with their own website for better prices. Why on earth would anyone bother with this when Amazon is right there?
March 30th, 2012 at 9:15 AM
it was pretty cool, they basically said they needed flat screens to fit a certain size, 2 xbox’s and 2 playstations, tons of shit. basically walking around with cash and a cart and just loading it up. that was a great Tuesday night to work.

I work as a retail liaison for a large international tech company, and right now as an exercise I’m playing devil’s advocate against going all in with Amazon. We have a lot of B&M retail partners who may frown on it, but with the growth numbers Amazon is showing this task is extremely difficult.

Amazon has same-day shipping in 11 cities now and two-day anywhere with Prime. I get the instant gratification angle but for big electronics purchases, the discounts you can save online more than justify the wait for an overwhelming majority of consumers.

I toured an Amazon disty center last week. This will sound like hyperbole, but its one of the most impressive displays of logistics and innovation I’ve ever seen. Everything — from the way the items are positioned throughout the one million sq foot warehouse to how the workers locate and box an order — is flawless. My mind was blown.

Miami Vice theme was good, but,
… off topic somewhat, they had the whole 80′s Rock vibe locked down. I still associate Smugglers Blues and In the Air with that show. Power Station, Alan Parsons, Ted Nugent, the Police, Willie Nelson.

This is the main reason I’m a little concerned about Best Buy. If they go under, I don’t know where I would do my TV shopping. Maybe it forces Target and Wal-Mart to carry higher end stuff, but I doubt it.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:35 AM

“Ghosts on the Beach”, “Underneath the Radar” and “The Great Commandment”. Hell, yeah.

The Fire doesn’t output, so no. There a couple workarounds. Try Orb. It’s essentially AirPlay but better because its not tied to the Apple ecosystem. You can stream from the Fire to the TV that way. Plus, you can access Prime’s video library from the laptop as well.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
interesting game last night
March 30th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Pumped about my new clubs shipping today. Picked up a whole new bag last week. Cleveland Classic Driver, Ping G15 Fairway and Hybrid, Callaway RAZR X Irons and some Callaway Forged Wedges. Down to Hilton Head next week, today can’t move fast enough.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Winchester or Frank Burns, who ya got?
March 30th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Fuck yeah, CJ.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
I can understand that, but I got a TV (LG 32″ LCD) from Amazon, free shipping, in 4 days. They offered free shipping to send it back if there was anything wrong with it. I sound like a total shameless Amazon shill but I’ve been buying stuff from them for over 10 years and have never had a problem.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Thanks Queefer Sutherland!
/giggles
March 30th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
what size driver is that Classic?
March 30th, 2012 at 9:39 AM
Ping G15 Fairway and Hybrid
i have the hybid, you will love it.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
The Simpsons has a great theme song.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:40 AM
Sears comes to mind. Micro Center too.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
To be honest, I really don’t know. My wife currently uses it bedtime, it to catch up on some of the shows she watches (Grey’s). We’ve downloaded some movies offered on Amazon, but we’ve watched them on the Kindle, not the TV.
I did find this link about watching them on TV. hope this helps.
from the article: There are no ports to connect the Fire to your HDTV, but if you have a device that supports Amazon Prime connected to your TV, you can switch from watching a movie on the Fire to your TV.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
I’m way too big of a wuss to click on the link (thanks to a crippling fear)–can someone give me the gist of what “Spidertown” is?
//curls into fetal position.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Chris Jones’ Esquire piece caught a ton of shit from the feminist brigade on the ole Twitter machine yesterday. Something about women being socialized and the whole slut shaming thing. That conversation was radioactive. I didn’t see anything wrong with the piece. Then again, I didn’t get the outrage over the Belvidere Vodka Ad either.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
So…that SpiderTown link….is that actually, you know…spiders? Or just a catchy name. Cause if it’s spiders, fuck the person that sent that one in.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Rokus are so inexpensive these days though. The basic model runs $50. Time it right, you can get two of the higher end models for $45 each.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
spencer already said this but the correct answer is Fresh Prince.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Australian town, flooding caused a spider migration, whole town is covered in webs and spiders.
Best comment from the link:
March 30th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
I use that as my ring tone.
I forgot about the Cheers theme. I think Greatest American Hero theme probably was a top 5 hit…maybe even #1. Welcome Back Kotter’s and Miami Vice also.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
You need to get rid of that Wii and get a media deck like a Playstation 3, CJ. Useful for BluRays and does a lot more streaming than that Nintendo product you’re currently working with.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
best buy wont go under.. geez
March 30th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
M.A.S.H.’s theme song is outstanding, the real song and theme from the movie is even better.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
I have to imagine those spiders are having to cannibalize themselves to a degree…can’t imagine the bug supply can feed them all in that confined a space
March 30th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
There’s plenty of anti spider folks here. No need to be shamed.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:45 AM
The Fresh Prince and then Ducktales
March 30th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
scripty, the driver is the 290. I hate hitting anything in those bays at Golfsmith, but damn, that’s is the one driver that I couldn’t miss with.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
Unless she’s not going to use it for games and such. Standalone BluRay + Roku = more money in her pocket
March 30th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
There’s a dog running through the webs in one of the pictures. I think they’re doing juuuuust fine.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Best TV theme song ever?
The Equalizer.
And Jose Ovechkin gets props for Ducktales.
/when there’s a stranger, OUT TO FIND YOU’d
March 30th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
All the ones from TGIF are burned into my head from my childhood. Step by Step, Family Matters, Full House and Perfect Strangers.
My favorite one is probably Roundball Rock though. And that’s sports.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Fucking Austrailia! If you want to see crazy ass creatures, go there.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
Danny Elfman. Legend.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
Any love for the 90210 theme song?
Yeah, I said it.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
I’m reading the comments on Buzzfeed and apparently most of the area has been evacuated due to the flooding and there is a huge mosquito problem. The spiders are having a friggin country bear jimbaroo up in that shit, plenty of bugs.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
I do think a Roku sounds worth it for the bonus of watching mlb.tv through it too. Roku it is.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Team Amazon Prime.
Fuck sales tax too.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
SpiderTown; A TBL Commentator Production; Jake Arachne is a widower, trying to leave his recent personal troubles behind as he sojourns to a small Aussie town to come to grips with his secrets. There, he meets a saucy local entomlogist who shows him around his new home.
Starring….
March 30th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Think they ate it? If spiders ever started hunting with a hive mentality humanity would be doomed (Arachnophobia hinted at this grim future before John Goodman saved the day)
March 30th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Has nobody said Fraggle Rock yet? Y’all fucking suck and deserve to wake up to a spider web forest.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Facts of Life theme had some spark to it.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
That’s going away
March 30th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
Used to be that if you had a .edu email address you got Prime free for six months. Was the best thing ever for book buying sprees. One dollar next day shipping per item.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:52 AM
This has C-Tates written all over it.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Knight Rider theme song still gives me goose bumps … that was my favorite show growing up in Nigeria
March 30th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Happy Days theme song if we’re going into the Wayback Machine though.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
I’d rather fight of a zombie herd than a spider herd.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
It’s been a glorious run. Any idea when?
March 30th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
AWESOME!!!
March 30th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Charles in Charge.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
That’s a classic show. Though I watched a couple of episodes via Youtube awhile back and it didn’t seem to hold the test of time, still loved it when I was a teenager
March 30th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Mission Accomplished > Mission Impossible songwise
March 30th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
How about those yuge spiders from The Mist that shoot acid webs?
March 30th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
There’s this show Infestation on Animal Planet and what I’ve come to learn is that if it’s spiders you eventually have to move…unlike roaches or whatever they’re too good at detecting poison in the air and can escape
March 30th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Charles in Charge.
Was retired here, and renamed “Charske in Charge”.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Ah yes Meghan Fox Vagina Spiders.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
It’s state by state right now but most are phasing the tax in now or have plans on the books to do so. In PA we have to self report on our income tax, which is a giant PITA and has people here predictably riled up.
For their part, Amazon wants to charge sales tax but they are pushing for a federal mandate. It’s impossible for them to police each individual state. In fact, because of the wide variety of tax options there are states Amazon employees cant even step foot in on company business. All their travel is approved and logged ahead of time, too. It’s insane.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
What about zombie spiders? We’d have no chance.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
You can buy a laptop with a cracked screen for next to nothing. Permanently hook it up to your TV with a wireless keyboard and mouse ($30).
Run Chrome browser and watch everything illegally through vipstand, atdhenet.tv, firstrowsports.eu, justin.tv and 1channel.ch. Chrome browser automatically updates and you will never need new software.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
For those of you with animals, try to listen to this song without crying.
March 30th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
The spider scene from Raiders and the insect scene from the secret tunnel entrance in Temple of Doom are fantastic.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
There was a live action re-make of that opening a few years ago. Pretty funny and creepy.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
If the SyFy Channel is ever showing Ice Spiders I can’t recommend setting the DVR enough…only problem with the movie is having to accept that Jeff from The Max is the hero so rooting for him to get eaten is just going to lead to disappointment
March 30th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Jeff Daniels. Spider killing LEGEND.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I don’t care if it makes me a bitch or not, Arachnophobia is the scariest fucking movie I’ve ever seen. Halloween is a distant second.
/fuck spiders
March 30th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Here it is.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
Gotye has an interesting sound. Though this is clearly his best song.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
spencer, best thing about the driver is the head cover, leather head cover that looks like it should go on a Harley.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Pretty much any SyFy monster movie makes me put down the remote.
Megashark vs Giant Octopus > Ice Spiders > Sharks in Venice > Sharktopus
March 30th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Awesome.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:05 AM
Definitely the gold standard, could have used a bit more Lamas though
March 30th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Oh man I never saw The Mist. Just read the plot on Wikipedia, I have got to see this movie now.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
For those of you with animals, try to listen to this song without crying.
You’re awful. Just awful. I didn’t even really understand what the fuck he was singing, then I read the lyrics. God damn it. My dogs are only 3 and 2 yrs old and I can’t help but think about this shit all the time. Now I’m thinking about this shit at work. Thanks a bunch!!!!!
/Runs to bathroom

March 30th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
Team Amazon Prime.
What’s it like? I was thinking of joining it when the Kindle Fire came out last year but backed off since the Fire had its issues.
And not a single vote for ATHF.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
Oh man I never saw The Mist. Just read the plot on Wikipedia, I have got to see this movie now.
Loved that movie. I had it in my top 10 for that year.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
I rock out to that one at least once a day
March 30th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
was that really necessary? I’m glad I have to go home at lunch today so I can see my dogs. thanks a fucking lot.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
seriously…love everything about that club. feels great, they put a fantastic stock shaft in there, LOW LOW LOW spin…nothing but nuked knuckleballs. cleveland’s known for their wedges, but i’ve always loved their drivers.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
the ones with human skulls for faces?
March 30th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
…. Aaaand now Colin is RIPPING Lisk for his post. Said “This Jason Kid”… LOL
March 30th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
Well clearly ESPN send their radio people the same list of talking points
March 30th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
I fucking love it. I love Kimbra’s voice, too.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
husker…you see your girl maddow on daily show last night? her new book on the military sounds pretty interesting.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
I still hit an old Cleveland Launcher. I swung a few Classics at Golf Galaxy but they only had the hugest heads. I’d need the smallest CC model, and they didnt have it in stock. I cant hit those 510cc or whatever ones.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:17 AM
…. Aaaand now Colin is RIPPING Lisk for his post. Said “This Jason Kid”… LOL
Take down his site.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
my first driver.
/wistful memories…
the hibore XL was a great driver too. they’re very underrated when it comes to the big stick…TM and titleist make some great drivers, but id put cleveland right up there with them, cleveland just doesn’t have their presence on tour.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
It’s a beautiful song even if it’s very sad. Don’t get pissy with me. I cried just explaining the song to my bestie over email!
March 30th, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Husker – didn’t I read once that you’re looking to buy a house? Marietta?
March 30th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
I haven’t watched it yet, but her book does sound cool.
I live in Marietta already. Why? You selling a house or something?
March 30th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
Which post?
March 30th, 2012 at 10:32 AM
My Father-in-law is.
Four years ago, I would’ve bought this outright from him, but combine a soft economy with shutting down my business with buying my own new house and it’s just not viable.
Indian Hills CC – huge lot – on the course. House is s fiser-upper, so the price will be under market. I’d really love to have this lot.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Gotcha. My brother is looking for a new place, but I don’t think they want to be up near Indian Hills.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:39 AM
Are we totally sure it’s gay sex at the track? That could be a lady in the front.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:42 AM
I actually tried to convince my wife to put our current house up for sale so we could buy it.
The lot is unbelievable – I’ve actually walked right onto the course and played 5-6 holes with no problem. It’s big enough for a pool.
It really sucks b/c I didn’t want to buy this last house we just bought and now she regrets it. Her and my two youngest kids out “pro and con”‘d me and my oldest son.
March 30th, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Damn kids.
March 30th, 2012 at 2:14 PM
Gotta be the Green Acres theme.
