Former Notre Dame Wide Receiver Takes a Shot at MVP/Alleged Cheater Ryan Braun
Jeff Samardzija, the former Notre Dame wide receiver who is trying to win a spot in the Chicago Cubs’ rotation, took a minor jab at Mr. Testosterone, Ryan Braun of the Brewers, on a radio show Tuesday:
“Obviously Milwaukee lost a guy, could have lost two, but you know, hey lawyers … having good lawyers helps out.
Sick burn. Keep ‘em coming, Samardzija, and any other player that mocks the alleged cheater. We’ll post all of them.

Dave Bolland thinks Samardzija needs to step up his radio troll game.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:38 PM
That brings the tally to Notre Dame 327, Miami 122.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Pwnsauce, population: Braun!
March 28th, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Shouldn’t this read:
/Blind Item’d
March 28th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Does the “Notre Dame WR” angle get more clicks than “Cubs pitcher”?
Because I can’t think of a non-click reason to use ND.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
To bad Pennypecker is not around anymore. Tbl- let him back when Braun is hitting .225 5 hrs at Allstar break.
/he lost his protection !
March 28th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
shit, that’s funny.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:42 PM
I can only assume that ATL_Badger’s reaction to this post would be measured and reasonable.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Also, is his statement really even a subtle dig at all…or just a fact with no attempt at humor?
March 28th, 2012 at 12:45 PM
maybe Samardzija should look into testosterone enhancers. Just sayin.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:45 PM
Samardjiahjaddiaa’s manager probably didn’t like that.
I love these posts. A week from Friday I will be in the LF bleachers chanting MVP with 42,000 of my closest friends and it will be glorious. Please be sure to post the video of his first AB at Miller Park.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:46 PM
gimme a roid fraud over an ND Mr. Myxlplyx anyday.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:47 PM
Braun is going to hit 3 HR off of him now…in 2 IP.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Braun is going to have a terrible year. ‘Tis destiny.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
I for one support Mr. Braun. Roids = exciting baseball.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
obviously Samardzija is just drawing his own conclusions.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:49 PM
Who gives a shit if it is? The site makes money based on pageviews bro, they’re gonna put whatever headline gets them the most, it’s one of the backbones of business journalism. Last time I checked, not a non-profit site.
That being said, try talking about sports.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:50 PM
The sad truth is Samardzija is still better known as a former Notre Dame WR than a current Cubs pitcher.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:53 PM
Dave Bolland thinks Samardzija needs to step up his radio troll game.
Sedin Sisters is soooo 5 years ago.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:54 PM
i don’t think the technicallity Braun got off on requires you to put the term “alleged” in your post.
he tested positive, the sample was his, but due to a handling error, not testing, it was thrown out.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:55 PM
Duckworth’d?
He is a good dude.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:56 PM
Why the F didn’t this guy play football? Asshole.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
+1
/should have went the NFL route.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
I was curious as to why someone would refer to the person in their former profession which is also outside of the current sport at hand.
The media didn’t report “former lifeguard writes op-ed for NYT about Goldman Sachs”.
March 28th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
Nyjer Morgan and his cat, Slick Willie > any Braun post ever

Non-guaranteed contracts, shorter career vs guaranteed contract, longer career
March 28th, 2012 at 12:58 PM
/high fives
March 28th, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Because if he was as bad at that as he is pitching the money wouldn’t have been guaranteed
March 28th, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Samardzija was a great college wide out. I saw him play 3 or 4 times in person and the dude made Brady Quinn look so much better than he actually was.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Also, he will probably not sustain any concussions not pitching for the Cubs in the big leagues.
/guys with 169 IP over 4 years should be seen and not heard
March 28th, 2012 at 1:03 PM
Davey “Pageviews” Portnoy embraces what he is, yet JMac refuses to. Putting Notre Dame in the headline = more clicks. This website is a piece of shit.

Tough talk from a guy who will be facing the Akron Aero’s in a few weeks.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:06 PM
having good lawyers helps out.
I would love to hear TBL’s response if Braun represented himself or got the MLB equivilent of a public defender. He got off due to good lawyers, we should all be so lucky.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:07 PM
$10m+ his first five year contract, and $2.64 on a one year deal for 2012 seems like a good enough reason to not get killed in football.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:07 PM
JMac should stick to what he knows, blind posts and tossing grenades in the comment section. leave sports articles to the experts.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
The NFL was bumping up against its white WR limit anyway.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:10 PM
There’s always room for one more on the Pats.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:12 PM

That’s all well and good and if he kept his mouth shut after that rather than libel the tester who was doing job he wouldn’t be getting the shit storm he’s going to get at every park this year.
/REMEMBER DINO!!!!!!!!
March 28th, 2012 at 1:12 PM
Also, is his statement really even a subtle dig at all
No, it’s not a subtle dig, it’s a sick burn. I guess you didn’t read the post
March 28th, 2012 at 1:13 PM

Solid, but it’s not like Brady Quinn ever seems to get hurt in the NFL.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:13 PM
A website. On the internet. Seeking pageviews?
/raises eyebrow
March 28th, 2012 at 1:14 PM
I’m predicting a down year for Braun, too. Something in the range of .290, 30 HR, 95 RBI, 15 steals
March 28th, 2012 at 1:15 PM
Tough talk from a guy who will be facing the Akron Aero’s in a few weeks.
Canal Park is a good pitcher’s park.
Serious ?: Is there OPS+ and other advanced (pithcing) metrics for for the minor leagues?
March 28th, 2012 at 1:16 PM
Why the F didn’t this guy play football? Asshole.
Perhaps being able to talk to his family coherently and knees that work at 60 is worth more to him than gridiron glory for 5 years.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:19 PM
/raises eyebrow
is that an Anthony Davis style unibrow?
March 28th, 2012 at 1:22 PM
Is it a burn/mocking of Braun? It seems like he’s just talking about the Brewers.
I’m thinking it’s more the adamant (to the point I think it has to be tongue in cheek) refusal that it’s about pageviews. Everyone knows, so why pretend it’s not the case?
Also, it’s the People’s Eyebrow.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:25 PM
I’m predicting a down year for Braun, too. Something in the range of .290, 30 HR, 95 RBI, 15 steals
…which wouldn’t be a bad year, especially if the team is in contention.
March 28th, 2012 at 1:29 PM
down year for a ‘roider
March 28th, 2012 at 1:32 PM
down year for a ‘roider
Yeah, but we gotta “manage expectations”, don’t we?
March 28th, 2012 at 1:38 PM
wouldn’t it make more sense to say “Cubs pitcher takes a shot at Ryan Braun” ? You know since they are in the same division and all that.
When I saw it, I was thinking malcom Flord or Golden Tate and thought who cares?
March 28th, 2012 at 2:07 PM
It’s actually a pretty awesome year, which was kinda my point. Braun is great and Samardzija didn’t seem like he was burning him sickly or otherwise.
March 28th, 2012 at 2:12 PM
I assume he learned this lesson during the Declan Sullivan debacle?
March 28th, 2012 at 2:27 PM
Right. “Alleged”. The tester didn’t send the sample right away, didn’t tamper with it, and so Braun is innocent…
nope.
