You guys don’t get what it’s like to be an SMU fan. We’ve gone 1-11, 8-5, 7-7, 8-5 under June. Every one of those four seasons was fueled by either a two star QB who was boosted by his surroundings at a Texas high school or was a transfer from a Hal Mumme Offense (that specifically refers to J.J. McDermott who was QB most of last season and produced this wonderful line: 3,421 yards, 59.8% completion, 17 TD, 16 INT.

Before June, we hadn’t won 6 games since 1984. So you guys don’t really get how much of an improvement this is for us. If we can have a similar defense to 2011, then 9-10 wins on our schedule is not out of the question.

He’s graduating from Texas this spring, and has two years of immediate graduate eligibility. A player can transfer and play for another school as a grad student if they can be in a grad program that can be demonstrated to not be available at their original institution.

If Gilbert sucks, then we have a 3 star from California to replace him. My point was that it’s nice to have that rather than some two stars and a transfer fighting it out for the position, which has been the case for four straight years.

for real. I’m interested too see what the defense looks like this year with the new staff. It will be so nice to have a reliable running game to offset the passing game.

Doesn’t Gilbert have to sit out a year? I seem to recall him sucking this past year in addition to the prior year. In any event, don’t get too excited. The guy sucks. He only appears to be comfortable in an INT-first offense.

And Preston passed to a five star and a four star receiving recruit on his high school team in California while they were en route to a state championship. So we actually have an honest to God QB battle instead of picking from among retreads. This is new for us.

supposedly Knile ran a 4.4 40 at the first spring practice. I know 40 times mean shit, but that is faster than he was last year before he wrecked his knee. Him coming back healthy is going to be huge in helping the WR corps develop.

I think we’ve seen this a million times now. Georgia beats Florida, their fan base throws their chest out like they just won the gee dee national championship, keep talking about how the tide has turned, only to be hit with that cold slap of reality the next year.

You can tell me “oh, it’s a new story” all you want, doesn’t make it true. In fact, the last time you beat us, I do believe we made sure you felt the pentration the next three years.

But I applaud your confidence and off belief that Florida, a school that has not only owned UGA, but wins National Championships is done. We’re not going to be a power this year, but we’ll be good enough to beat Georgia.

I hope you’re right, GOTG. I’m jaded though. give me about 4 months and I’ll have myself convinced Tennessee is winning the East this year.

I know nothing about their OL or the RBs. All I know is Bray is a stud and the three WRs they’re going to trot out are going to be almost impossible to defend. Other than SoCar and Florida, the Tenn game scares me the most.
