Dana Jacobson is Leaving ESPN

Dana Jacobson, famous for hosting ESPN’s First Take, getting her Goose on at the Mike & Mike Roast in 2008 and rooting for Michigan, is leaving at the conclusion of her contract with ESPN next month, the Worldwide Leader finally announced this evening. ESPN said Jacobson’s agent notified them of this decision today.

The rumor of her departure spread earlier today and we called Bristol for comment. We were told they were still trying to retain her, but it appeared bleak, and tweeted as much. Sports by Brooks then tweeted she was not returning to Bristol.

Next up on the ESPN checklist: Scott Van Pelt. And Erin Andrews and Michelle Beadle, though not necessarily in that order.

Jim Rome needs a partner on the channel I can’t (read, don’t wanna) find. CBS Sports something. Or NBC Sports whatever. I think some of these ESPN folks lining up for re-ups on their contracts are leveraging those two newerish channels and ESPN responds by saying, “We don’t give a fuck. You are easily replaceable. Bye.”
Also, Justified is almost on and I’m so sure this is going to be all kinds of awesome tonight.

Is this really a loss at all? Would anyone tune into an ESPN show mainly because of her? I say no.
The current anchors and commentators are pretty much all disposable, imo. Olbermann and Patrick represented the last gasp of excellence.
