Elite Eight, South Region: Kentucky vs. Baylor
A Louisville-Kentucky Final Four matchup, which would be the biggest rivalry game to occur in the Final Four ever, is within reach. The Louisville Cardinals did the hard work, advancing as a #4 seed out of the West. Now, Kentucky merely has to do what most expected with this team, advance to the Final Four.
Can Baylor present a road block? Well, athletically, they should be able to match up on the front line, something that rarely happens for teams that face Kentucky. Baylor’s front line of Perry Jones III, Quincy Acy, and Quincy Miller has the size, length, and athleticism to go against Anthony Davis, Terence Jones, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Baylor doesn’t always play to their size, though. If the athletes decide to go all out, then this can be a battle.
It ultimately comes down, though, to whether Kentucky plays great. In the last two games against Iowa State and Indiana, they have gone 15 of 30 from three point range, while their opponents hit only 8 of 40. If Baylor is going to win, they will need to also match or exceed Kentucky in three point percentage and makes.
The Line: Kentucky by 8. The Pick: Can Baylor beat Kentucky? sure. They probably will not, but they have the athletes to compete, and a couple of three point shooters to play off them, particularly the man of the third round, Brady Heslip. Baylor +8.
Tourney Record to Date: 37-21 against the spread.

Anthony Davis’s unibrow should be in a bracket to itself. Holy crap.

channel surfing – Notre Dame women’s team pistolwhipping St. Bonaventure 33-9 with a minute left in the half. Damn..as bad of a beating as UK railing Baylor. no surprise that a Scott Drew team fails to show up in the biggest of games.

20 minutes in, and I’m kicking myself for how many times I have cursed how poorly Baylor has played and coached in the past. I’m an underdog guy, and 7.5 is a large total in a game like this, but I’ll be danged if Baylor didn’t come out and not only turn it over, but fail to get back, throw passes that led to fast breaks, and play soft inside (surprise!). Kentucky is hot, and how is Baylor not running picks for Heslip? Idiots.

Baylor could have the OSU-Cuse refs and they’d still be losing by a million.

It’s bad when golf and the nascar race are more interesting than an Elite 8 game.

This is the Baylor team I have come to know and hate. Softy softy softies when playing against talent. The ultimate bully team that can’t take a punch.

Did Clark Kellogg just say “gitch with his hiddy-up”? Dyslexic Clark?

I thought after Baylor got torched by Duke last year in the regional final they would have learned their lesson and come ready to play today. Obviously, I was wrong. Money down the drain.

I think Quincy Acy is Edwin Moses’ long lost child

i see the refs are filling the quota today as well. the UK guy used his forearm to create space yet the refs called the foul on the kid from Baylor. Just fantastic.

Perry Jones or Harrison Barnes – more overrated?
March 25th, 2012 at 4:33 PM
Perry Jones. He and Rodney Williams could be brothers, with their lack of aggressiveness. They look like brothers as well. Rodney has shown flashes lately however.

Have to agree with Kellog as to why is Davis still in the game.

Some NBA team will use a high pick on PJIII and will regret the decision (same with Sullinger). You shouldn’t pick a guy just because he is a big man. Get the best available player. I hope Quincy Acy gets a shot in the NBA. That guy is a beast (and is 100 times as aggressive as PJIII).

the Commonwealth will implode next Saturday during the UK-UL game. If UL somehow pulls off the upset, that will be absolutely fantastic. The no-life UK fanbase will weep like someone just killed their family.
