Joba Chamberlain Injured His Ankle Playing on a Trampoline with His Son, Had Surgery, Out Indefinitely
Joba Chamberlain missed most of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Yesterday, in keeping with the uplifting spirit of missing time and not contributing, he dislocated his right ankle while jumping on a trampoline with his son. The portly fella underwent surgery for it last night and GM Brian Cashman has deemed it a “significant injury.” As of now, there’s no timetable for his return.
One question, unless you’re slightly more coordinated than Louie Anderson, how does one dislocate their ankle while jumping on a trampoline?

When jumping with a partner, you have got to time it right. Simultaneous landing is dangerous.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:26 AM
Everything’s gone downhill for Joba since he appeared on Man VS Food.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:27 AM
Bet Joba won that episode . . .

Exactly — gotta go right before or right after
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:29 AM
trampoline’s just seem like an accident waiting to happen. something that you would either break an arm using or it would just end up as an eyesore in the backyard that never gets used because you grew bored with it after a month.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Getting you leg stuck between the outer rim of the trampoline and the actual bouncing surface. Seen it happen with an arm. It’s really not a pretty sight.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:31 AM
Obligatory.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:32 AM
So I turn on the radio and TBL is doing a spot with local Denver sports talk. Jarring.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:32 AM
The dumbass baseball injury strikes again.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:32 AM

details please…. I’m assuming he’s talking about Tebow.

there is a chain of places for kids that are all about trampolines. mine will never go.
and joba’s a fat fuck and dumb as a bag of wet hair. HE is the accident waiting to happen

What?! Can you please transcribe any highlights?
BOOM!
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Most fun i had on a tramp was at my friends house where they had it set up right next to the pool and we would jump as high as we could and then jump into the pool. Yeah surely nothing could have gone wrong there.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
My dad’s gym in Lincoln had the coolest trampolines and they also had the foam pit to jump in. Fuck having some random small one in the backyard. I would have killed myself as a kid messing with those things.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Options, yo.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
Go on….
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
Don’t trampolines get boring after about 10 minutes?
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
everyone should be able to listen online or there will be a podcast soon, no?
one of mu housemates in college was on the track team. somehow we ended up with a high jump pit as a piece of furniture. good times. banged my only african-american on it
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
Eastbound & Down…not really fiction
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:35 AM
Most of my childhood injuries came from trampolines. Doing flips on a big one and landing on the grass, or using the small one for dunk contests in the driveway.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Don’t trampolines get boring after about 10 minutes?
we’ve been agreeing with each other way too much lately. I liked it better when you were calling me a fucking dickface.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
OH MY GOD! FREE TRAMAMPOLINE!
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Not just kids. Some friends of mine were really into one of those places for a while. Kept trying to get me to go and I always refused.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Gerard, you don’t think Jason and D-Mac (obviously not him this time) could hang out? I can just hear D-Mac excitedly describing the “gun show” and doing the inevitable comparison to Tebow.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Not when you have a foam pit. Seriously…you can rock out on one of those things for hours with a foam pit. Though I bet CJs time jumping in the pool was also a blast. Same with MPs dunk contest. But yeah…just a trampoline itself would be boring after about 10 min.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Hey, anyone feel like getting more outraged?
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:37 AM
Eh, fairly boilerplate daily Jets post stuff. Bitched about how NY fans hate Cromartie, mostly. The thing that stuck out to me is, whoo boy, voice *not* made for radio. Sounded suspiciously like John Clayton. After huffing helium.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:38 AM
Well I’m a tumbler, I’m a government man.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:39 AM
I saw that. What a fucktard.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:40 AM
The words that followed this did not excite me as much as I would have liked.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:40 AM
Joba the Hutt?
/ I’m sure it’s Duckworth’d
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:41 AM
His voice is a bit higher than you’d expect with those guns.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Depends on how many Juggies are on there with you.
/ God help me, I miss that show
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Hey, anyone feel like getting more outraged?
did a small story awhile back about two c-stores whose employees unilaterally decided to put up a sign asking customers to take off their hoodies or hats when entering the store. one chain removed them immediately when mgmt found out, the other chain said it was ok. pokie thought it was ok. there had been a few robberies in the area. was in beaumont
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Still better than Simmons though, right?
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
pokie=police
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:44 AM
Hey, anyone feel like getting more outraged?
Yikes.
Was nice to see the large rally they had down there yesterday. I wish the black community would show the same sort of interest/outrage in some of the other issues that plague some of their community. Single mothers, etc.
/probably a loaded comment
//probably shouldn’t be talking about this
///backs away slowly
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM

but as high as you;d expect with roid nuts
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM

oh yeah, but only the original, not after kimmel left
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:45 AM
It’s as jarring as finding out an albino ginger sings Never Gonna Give You Up. A voice for print and print for US Weekly.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
oh man…if you watch tosh.0, you’d realize how incredibly easy it is to horrifically, HORRIFICALLY injury yourself on a trampoline, even if you’re not jumping on the trampoline itself.
this one’s my favorite.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Well I didn’t grow up in Duffy’s neighborhood so there were no foam pits or gymnastic-sized trampolines in my childhood. My house had a pool and my neighbor had a trampoline. Unfortunately there was no good way to combine the two due to the trees in both our yards and presence of the fence.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:48 AM
I put here.
/Do not read many of them
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
I was cracking up at his restaurant critiques this week. Shit was awesome.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:52 AM
The first sentence immediately followed by, “my house had a pool” is some funny shit for sure.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:54 AM
oh yea…that shit was hysterical.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:55 AM
I, for one, and shocked that SlamBall didn’t end in a horrible injury.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:58 AM
Spencer – I missed South Park this week. Any good?
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
yeah, just like a giants jersey was responsible for that baseball fan to be beaten within an inch of his life at dodgers stadium.
fuckin ignorant assholes.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
Yes. Awesome.
March 23rd, 2012 at 10:59 AM
Since TBL is such a big fan of ripping off reddit, this link seems fitting…
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:00 AM
SC…yea, it was pretty funny. better than the previous week’s, for sure.

Is he? I got to reddit all the time and don’t see much ripping off going on. Am I missing something?
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:03 AM
That guy should be banned from the air for life for those comments just for their sheer stupidity. Unreal.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:04 AM
i mean, since reddit posts just about everything instantly, you could say that pretty much everyone rips off reddit.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:05 AM
what, now we’re defending TBL? you guys are just too fair
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:05 AM
Sorry, that was the snarky, dont-give-a-fuck redditor coming out. Not so much a “rip off” as a “dude, I saw that like 3 days ago somewhere else” feeling I get on most mornings around here.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:06 AM
I have no fucking clue what reddit is
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:06 AM
what is reddit?
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:06 AM
big internet community…good place to get lost when you’re bored.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:07 AM
I have no fucking clue what reddit is
Reddit is a site where you will lose hours upon hours of your day and not feel bad about it.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:09 AM
Reddit is like Indeed for blogs. It’s an aggregator of links.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:09 AM
in truth, a lot of the stuff at reddit is there mainly because it’s a good dumping ground. what really makes reddit great is the whit and humor of the members, and the links/info tend to take a back seat sometimes. While the info is good, I am more entertained by the comments under the posts, like here at TBL. Also, the AMA’s they do are great.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:09 AM
well yea…but isn’t that the point of the roundup? rounding up a bunch of shit you might have missed?
anyways…send pics of your dick to anyone?
/eic’d
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:10 AM
Austin Rivers going pro. That’s a bad decision.

Agreed — If they had an “AskReddit” equivelent here that would be incredible. I like: AskReddit, IamA, EarthPorn, MFA, Fitness, Finance, NSFW

2013 D-League All-Star Game MVP. He’s got that to look forward to. Go get ‘em, kid.

mole….regarding our love for supergrass from the other day….i just came across a definition of supergrass. i had assumed it referred to reefer, and it may, but IRA paramilitaries in the 80s who were turned informants by the Brits were known as ‘supergrasses’
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:14 AM
anyone got a link to Joba dressed as the Hamburgler when he got popped for a DUI?
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:14 AM
I wish the black community would show the same sort of interest/outrage in some of the other issues that plague some of their community. Single mothers, etc.
+1 and a standing ovation.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:16 AM
Well yeah, but again, the feeling i get is that I have seen 90% of what gets posted in the roundup because I see it other places, like reddit, drudge, yahoo, other sports blogs, etc. I find it hard to imagine that I am the only one who feels this way, but i do seem to be the only one who bitches about it.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:16 AM

like reddit,
Do you ever comment on Reddit? I tried for like a week and everything got buried so I gave up.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:18 AM
The place here is called Sky Zone – essentially a large warehouse with wall-to-wall trampolines.
Friends took their kids there, even after a kids got a nice head injury the day prior. 2 of their 3 kids got injuries – broken arm for one and concussion for the other.
While they adhere to the fire marshall’s rules for the number of people allowed in at one time, I believe that number should be something a little less than the structure’s capacity. They jam as many people in as possible. Profits!!!
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:18 AM
I’m not nearly as comofrtable with that as SROD, but I don’t disagree
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:18 AM
one of the funniest things ive ever read was a giant “white people” joke thread…absolutely hysterical. “what do you call 200 white guys chasing a black guy? the pga tour.”
fuck yea…linked to an AMA of a 75th ranger guy in the roundup. had a funny thing about delta guys having to mow their compound lawn themselves because they couldn’t get security clearance for anyone else to do it for them.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:19 AM
working friday’s blows. I’m ready to golf.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:19 AM
Nice. However, baseball needs to get its head out of its ass and care about its #1 issue with its players – drinking and driving and not steroids.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:20 AM
Please. If he gets demoted to the D-League the next week his father will be trading for him immediately.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:21 AM
jose, my heart breaks when I see my people underachieve. When we as a culture settle for less than we can achieve. I grew up listening to Dr. King’s speeches & actually believing we as a people could rise above whatever beset us.
Now, we have the likes of Jay-Z, Sean Combs, Oprah and Tyler Perry influencing black culture. Yeesh.
/end rant
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:21 AM
Grizz – never post links; mainly just comment. Kind of a “lurker”, but will post comments when moved to do so. Getting Karma over there seems to be based on 3 things:
1. Posting something that makes it to the front page.
2. Being first to comment on something that goes to the front page
3. Doing either of the above, but being funnier/wittier/more sensational/the most accurate or correct at it than anyone else
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:21 AM
i don’t complain about it because it’s par the course…eic’s not exactly the most informed sports fan, so why would we expect he delve into internetting minutae?
i just lurk there all day…i like the commenting section here better.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Didn’t know who Drake was, doesn’t know what Reddit is … c’mon, CJ, climb into the 21st century.

I REALLY suggest you check out the Ken Jennings post.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Please. If he gets demoted to the D-League the next week his father will be trading for him immediately.
Dang, I wish my daddy coached in the NBA.
Rivers has a ton of raw talent, but in the few moments I’ve watched, he has way too much AAU in his game. He could stand to learn how to play nice with others.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:23 AM
Thank god we have morons like this vigilante in FL to maintain a platform for Al Sharpton.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:23 AM
spencer – saw that AMA link, that was a good one. The Aziz one from a few days ago was great too.
Grizz/Spencer – did either of you read the reddit about the guy who thought someone was living in his attic? God, did I enjoy that one. It was like an emotional roller coaster all day, following that damn thing.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:25 AM
“Thank god we have morons like this vigilante in FL to maintain a platform for Al Sharpton” – Squackbox
Yeah, the only thing that would have been better is if this had happened in October.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:26 AM
This website is a shitshow of late. I can’t see any pictures, the formatting is stripped away, and the “quote” and other comment tabs are missing.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:26 AM
This gem from Ken Jennings:
“There once was a host named Trebek, Whose mustache was sexy as heck. It would have been weird If he’d grown a big beard, Like Conan, or Riker on Trek.”
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:27 AM
Grizz/Spencer – did either of you read the reddit about the guy who thought someone was living in his attic? God, did I enjoy that one. It was like an emotional roller coaster all day, following that damn thing.
No, I missed that one — the AMA about the guy with the one half of his body more developed than the other half was insane. Those pics were wild. I’m w\ Spencer, I just lurk now on Reddit and never submit. It’s a great website though, I kill atleast an hour every night on it.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:27 AM
the common thread in the string of names is media. it touches every culture in America, unfortunately since media is everywhere and everyone is connected it has a greater impact now than it did any time before. the more you think about it, the more depressing it is.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:27 AM
ohheelyea…yea read that…fantastic. did you catch the one about the dude that saw a shooting outside his apartment building? another good one.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:28 AM
i can’t believe there’s another website you guys waste your time at… where do you find the time?
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:29 AM
If not for TBL, I never would have learned that Drake’s first name is Aubrey.
I love it when rappers’ real names are so … Carlton-ish. Like Chuck D, whose real name is Carlton Ridenhour.
Or Snoop, born Calvin Broaddus.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:30 AM
Oh I definitely agree, just not comfortable with white people sanctimoniously pointing out (obvious) issues in the black community without having any intention of offering a solution or helping to improve the situation. A lot of those issues aren’t solely ‘black issues’ they’re ‘American issues’ or ‘poverty issues’. But it’s easy to point out an issue and not take any responsibility for helping to improve the issue. When black people complain about black issues, that’s like when my sister complains about my mom. I’m fine with that, she’s a member of the family. If my best friend talks shit about my mom, I’m less cool with that.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:30 AM
i dont sleep much, i guess.

Spencer/Grizz – I think I know where we will be spending the better part of our afternoons…
/see you dudes at reddit
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:31 AM
Reddit is blocked at work now, so I get it all in at night. Some of those subreddits are completely insane — like I feel weird even thinking about them strange.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:31 AM
Heck, who wants to sleep when there’s so much ganja and golf in the world to be had?
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:33 AM
lol…space, worldnews, politics and puppies. that’s where i’ll be lurking.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:34 AM
Some of the novelty reddit accounts are really funny. Polite All Caps guy, I tell bad stories, the one dude who misleads you on the comments — i cant rememebr his name. It’s a great site. Gonewild also is fascinating to me for more than one reason.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:34 AM
Because that’s the priority here. Al Sharpton.
I’m not a fan of the guy either, some of the things he’s said are reprehensible, but he’s no worse than Ann Coulter or Bill O’Reilly. A mild annoyance. A murderer is a tad worse.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:34 AM
/high five
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:38 AM
“Family_Gardener” will be lurking as well (handle is a h/t to the Jeff Tweddy/Scott McCaughey song)
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:39 AM
i wish i was creative enough to come up with a cool handle…but all my names involve some combo of “rape” “fucker” or “yuri.”

My favorite sub is “AskReddit” — Ill go through the first 3-4 pages and just open like 40 links of the ones i like and plow through them. Some of the memes are a little nerdy, but Ill accept it.
March 23rd, 2012 at 11:48 AM
“/atheism” is great until you start feeling like they’re preaching to you and you get confused from all the irony.

Simply, wow.
I think it’s interesting that you put them all in a box like that.
Media folks are required to be baiting, attention-whore, loudmouths.
I didn’t think Sharpton was categorized as “media folk”. He’s a reverend, right? Or is that a right reverend?
