Syracuse Survives Wisconsin’s 3-Point Barrage, 64-63, Advances to the Elite 8
Syracuse 64, Wisconsin 63. Fantastic game. Perhaps the best of the tournament so far. Kris Joseph of Syracuse missed the front end of a 1-and-1 in the final :30, giving Wisconsin an opportunity to win. But Jordan Taylor missed a contested 23-footer, a desperation rebound attempt was off the mark and Syracuse survived. It’s unclear why Bo Ryan of Wisconsin didn’t call timeout to draw up a play for Taylor or Jared Berggren, a forward who was 6-of-7 from the field, and didn’t miss a three-pointer (3-of-3).
But it’s also a shock Taylor (17 points) missed the shot – he was 5-of-8 from deep before that miss. As a team, the Badgers were a staggering 14-of-28 on three-pointers, including seven in a row at one point.
CJ Fair snapped out of a major funk and led Syracuse with 15 points; Scoop Jardine scored 14 and Brandon Triche added 11 as the Syracuse guards got whatever shots they wanted in the lane. Dion Waiters scored 13 for the Cuse, and here are two of his highlights.
Great spin cycle by Waiters … better call by Raftery.
Man, Dion Waiters is fun to watch. He’s got a little D Wade in him, no?
The Cuse will face the Cincinnati/Ohio State winner Saturday afternoon. [videos via Mike]

Play of the game was when it was 62-61 and they called a block on what look like an obvious charge…such is life in college hoops with JV officials
Even if Bo had called a timeout the last play would have been the same rot, it’s who they are

So it looks like two big ten teams will be eliminated…could we see another in Ohio State?

both eliminated by what is termed by the unwashed masses on here as the overrated Big East.
March 22nd, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Well the big east as a whole was down this year. We do see that the cream of the crop is advancing. The average BE teams got eliminated early – ND, UCONN, WVU, USF, Etc

It would be hilarious if Indiana eliminated UK and was the only big ten team to advance

Are you talking about the play on the baseline? Where the Syracuse guy legwhipped the Wisconsin guy? You can’t be talking about that right? Because the was the fucking easiest call in the entire game. What’s it like to be completely retarded? I guess I should be impressed that you are able to actually operate a PC. Congratulations!

Hey dumbass, he was talking about the charge on SU but it was called a block on Wisconsin. Perhaps you’re the incompetent one

My sympathies on the apparent recent head trauma you’ve recently suffered…I can only hope that you’ll be able to color inside the lines within the next six months

Was that equal to the phantom foul called on Jardine when Jordan Taylor slipped/traveled with 1:03 left to go that gave UW another possession?
Just happy they put in the semi-circle to annoy Duke.
