Kendall Marshall Has a Fractured Right Wrist and North Carolina’s Title Chances Just Went Down the Drain [UPDATE: Video]

North Carolina just announced that point guard Kendall Marshall suffered a fractured right wrist in the Tar Heels’ 87-73 victory over Creighton.

The school hasn’t said whether or not Marshall will play in the Sweet 16 against South Florida or Ohio. One would imagine his season is probably over, but Marshall is a lefty, so perhaps he attempts to play through the injury.

Marshall scored 18 points and had 11 assists in the win over Creighton.

Should we hand Kentucky the title now, or tomorrow?

UNC losing Marshall is worse than Syracuse losing Melo. Also, Tyler Zeller is a huge flopper.

Let’s wait til they get to the Final Four and play a team that has good guards and will expose Marquis Teague for being an overrated PG. You stop Teague and get Davis into foul trouble and UK will lose.

Fock Creighton. They were dirty from the get-go. That double-hack on Henson in the 1st half was obvious, plus the sly little wink after the play happened.

Looking at the replay with Marshall, he went down similar to Henson, though Henson’s looked like he put all his weight on his wrist. Who knows? Maybe the wrist can be wrapped and he can still be a little effective. If he’s out totally, UNC is in trouble at the point. Steadman White has been good for a breather, but not quite the pt guard that Marshall is. AAARRGGHHH. Fock the Jays.

@AP your UK analysis is a reach; they could easily lose to IU but hoping a player gets into foul trouble is simply a wish; Teague does not need to force shot and not turn it over – prob 5th offense option unless he can take other guard

Roy could have sat Henson today and UNC still would have beaten Creighton. JH is going to get hammered more as the tourney moves on.

Obviously biased, but the wink let me know the intent. Not an outstanding game by the Heels, but some positive flashes were seen. Interesting to see if Zoeller or Barnes will heat up in the next game. Hopefully the ~5 day rest will help Henson and Marshall. McAdoo needs to stay aggressive for the team to win.

But seriously, this really does suck. Love watching Marshall, who has become absolutely indispensable and in my mind has played his way over the second half of this season into the first round of the draft, if not the lottery. Man I hope he comes back to Chapel Hill.
