Xavier Beats Notre Dame Thanks to Another NCAA Tournament Lane Violation

I have never seen a lane violation called in nearly two decades of watching college basketball. Until the the first round of this year’s NCAA tournament, that is. Now I’ve seen three. Why? Why did the referees choose this insignificant rule as a point of emphasis for the 2012 tournament? We may never know. What I do know is that this call took the game out of the players’ hands. (Controversy starts around 1:30) Be proud NCAA. I don’t care if this was the “right” call. Only a biased fan would say it was a good call.
Just as a refresher – when was the last time you reviewed a lane violation on a made free throw? I’ll wait.

Same with the shirt hold for an intentional. Of course he was intentionally fouling

Xavier must feel fulfilled after that victory.

I’m not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but either way, it makes very little sense.

He fouled before the pass was inbounded. Isn’t that a technical?

You sound as dumb as Barkley after the game.

Mike Breen had no issue. The players decided the game. He messed up and cost his team a chance to win. Im completely unbiased as I have no horse in this race, and I agree with the call.

So much for rigging the brackets so that you could get that coveted Duke/Notre Dame primetime lead-in on Sunday, CBS.
And of course, CBS re-rigged the brackets so that North Carolina got the good time slot and moved Lehigh/Xavier to the TruTV ghetto.

Oh yeah, and didn’t Friday afternoon and Friday night just completely suck ass because Gus Johnson wasn’t there to call it?

Great debate last night between Gottlieb and Van Pelt on twitter….to the point where SVP sarcastically called him a know it all.

Mike Breen had no issue.
Cool story bro. I would hope he had no issue since he was calling the Knicks game. If you are unaware the Knicks play in the NBA, this game which the post is about, was in the NCAA tournament.

I thought I was going to cry I was so happy that ND and Duke lost. Instead I shotgunned a beer and took my shirt off at the party. Best day ever. ND is for cunts. Douchebags across the world be crying. Best day ever.

total bullshit call. these Refs were horrible. I saw the LOU/DAV game the other day were the LOU player grabbed a loose ball on the ground and rolled over (barrel roll) and passed the ball to a fellow player. how the fock is this not walking???

It was a good call.

Also, the intentional was somehow karma repaying us for the no-call on Oden about 6 years ago.
/Not really, but I am glad that Oden will be homeless soon.

And here I was expecting this story to be about Layla wearing a strap-on.

Thoughts from the Columbus games:
NC State and Georgetown will be an excellent game. Gtown gave Belmont absolutely no room and no chance. But, NC State has CJ Leslie and a host of other bigs to give the Hoyas some grief.
Sparty may struggle with SLU. The Billikens play Wisconsin type ball. They won’t give them transition baskets, which is where Michigan State excels.
Memphis was disappointing. A lot of athletes, but not much hoop IQ.
LIU Brooklyn was a well coached team, but was just plain undersized.
San Diego State was good as well. NC State was just better yesterday.
Belmont was overmatched.
The Memphis dance team should be illegal. My guess is that each of the 6 could get at least $500 per hour as workers in the world’s oldest profession.
LIU Brooklyn’s dance team (no cheerleaders or band) was deemed bootylicious. Those were some dirty New Yorkers. And they brought The City to Columbus. I don’t think Columbus can contain them.
Goergetown’s cheerleaders might be the worst I’ve ever seen. In terms of talent and skill and any other way that you’d like to rate them.
SLU has Division I’s tallest cheerleader and she has Marisa Miller type tendencies. The rest were solid Midwestern girls.
Sparty’s cheerleaders are professionals. Nice, attractive, and unmemorable.

Picks for tomorrow’s early games in Columbus:
NC State with an upset of Georgetown. This should be an excellent basketball game.
Sparty holds of Saint Louis and their cheerleading squad with a little too much bulk inside.

It was a good call.

Been watching them for 40 years. It’s that way most seasons.

Caribou: read the rules. Rolling with the ball is not traveling. It’s as simple as that.
