NCAA Tournament 2012: Marquette vs. Murray State and Wisconsin vs. Vanderbilt
A game of similar teams, and a game of contrasts highlights your second set of games in the third round.
#3 Marquette vs. #6 Murray State, 5:15 in Louisville (CBS). Marquette and Murray State both like to get it up and down, shoot threes, and have excellent guard play. The difference, though, is that Marquette has Big East Player of the Year Jae Crowder, and I’m not sure Murray can match up there. That said, these Racers continue to save their best performance against their best opponents, and Isaiah Canaan will have a coming out party on CBS.
The Line: Marquette by 5.5. The Pick: I like Marquette to win, but I have faith that Murray can make a game of it, Murray State +5.5
#4 Wisconsin vs. #5 Vanderbilt, 6:15 in Albuquerque (TNT). This is a game that will be decided by Vanderbilt’s balanced offense and great outside shooting, and Wisconsin’s slow down, hard man-to-man defense in half court sets.
The Line: Vanderbilt by 1. The Pick: Hmmm, Vanderbilt losing would hurt my ability to win a pool where I am currently the leader, so I could use the theory that the universe will be cruel to me. In the end, though, I like how this Vanderbilt team is playing and the balance they will bring. It won’t be easy. Vanderbilt -1.
My record: 25-9 against the spread so far in the tourney.

Jebus. I’ve only picked 23 correct games straight-up in my money pool.

I love the old-school touches on the Marquette unis.

I’m 0-2 today with Ohio State -7.5 and K-State +5.5. I knew I was doing pretty well, but didn’t realize until I went back and counted. There were a few half point wins (Davidson, Baylor) that helped, but I was on the right side of Ohio, Lehigh, St. Bonaventure, etc.

Also, McIntyre and I are 1 and 2 in the “pick 10 teams” pool. I lost Wichita State and Texas so far. We get 2 points + seed number for every win, and I had NC State, South Florida, Florida, among my low seeds.
With eliminated teams out, we share 6 teams–Ohio State, Kansas, Florida, NC State, South Florida, and Vanderbilt. The only differences are McIntyre has VCU, I have Baylor and New Mexico. We are heavy favorites to win, but one of us could be eliminated from first for having same teams left, after Sunday.

South Florida,
Did you have to pick a play-in team? I picked whoever won that play-in game over Temple because I hate Temple. I can’t remember why I still hate temple. Chaney is long gone.

how about the Big East going 8-3 so far? Marquette needs to step it up here… Murray State looks pretty impressive

CBS needs to stop with the close up shots after made baskets. They’ve missed the action going the other way quite a bit. Fun game to watch. Won’t top UH-Louisville in the final four, but nothing much does.

Theres a new three stooges movie? Goddam Hollywood is pathetic.
March 17th, 2012 at 7:02 PM
Is there anything original Hollywood has done well in the last few years? Remakes of movies that werent even that good originally. Bringing back shit that should never be. I fuckin hate it.

Just wait till you see a commercial or a trailer for the stooges movie. You might want to throw your tv out the window

That’s very impressive. I’m at 1-1 today with a 0.5 point loss in the OSU game. My bets are 10-4 so far in the tourney but that includes some o/u bets. I’m with you on ISU, still have Baylor and I’m currently sweating the over (121) in the Wisky game (just ahead of pace at he half )
