Lehigh Stuns Duke, 75-70, in One of the Greatest Upsets in NCAA Tournament History
Lehigh’s first NCAA tournament win in school history may go down as one of the biggest upsets in NCAA tournament history – the Mountain Hawks from the Patriot League defeated mighty Duke.
Behind 30 points from star C.J. McCollum, 15th-seeded Lehigh stunned 2nd seeded Duke, 75-70. The Blue Devils were 12-point favorites and playing in Greensboro, which is less than an hour from their Durham campus.
Plagued by foul trouble and horrendous 3-point shooting – Seth Curry was 1-11, Austin Rivers was 2-9 behind the arc – the Blue Devils fell behind by seven late and were unable to claw back against the Patriot League champs.

order. restored.
March 16th, 2012 at 9:58 PM
Crazy, Austin Rivers, Seth Curry and Andre Dawkins go a combined 8/39 from the field and 4/25 from the three while Mason Plumlee goes 10/10..
March 16th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
Duke and Mizzou lose on the same day? Holy fucking awesome.
/way more nervous about KU game now.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
@TBL, did Gannett offer to pay you by the post? I wanted to see what I missed this afternoon, until I realized it was like 15 posts.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
//Looks at bracket.
///Questions decision to pick Carolina to win it all based on their decisive win at Duke two weeks ago.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Glad Duke lost. The only thing that’s pissed me off tonight was the Mich vs. Ohio game. I had over 125, and it was 63-60 with over 3 minutes on the clock. I barely pulled out a push.
Tonight have the over in the Xav/ND game and Kan -whatever.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Wait, do we have any Duke fans around here?
How many Duke fans do you know? I can’t think of any.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Does Tallguy still come around?
March 16th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
nah, we just love this stuff.
Tallguy won’t show his face for weeks.

Fuck bryce harper and his fandom of lakers, yankees and duke!

Only a month or so til 3rdman shows up and hates on vaginas and the mavericks
March 16th, 2012 at 10:13 PM
What the hell is going on? I go to New York to do some steelhead fishing and couldn’t get anything on the radio except some of the Mizzou upset and find all hell breaking lose. Awesome.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Deeser, not sorry about uconn! Which of those guys will bolt for the NBA next year? This had to be one of the most unlikeable uconn teams ever
March 16th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Worst defensive team since 1996. Rivers is headed out the door, and Mason Plumlee can’t be far behind. I predict a fourth-place finish in the ACC next season.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:16 PM
Envious. Walleye season is right around the corner here…
March 16th, 2012 at 10:16 PM
Great avatar. horrible comment.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Now if kentucky and ohio state would lose, it would be great. Already rid of Michigan, Duke, and Missouri!

South Florida is a steaming pile of shit
March 16th, 2012 at 10:24 PM
TJ, I wasn’t sorry too much. Could see it coming when Calhoun said they wanted a shot at Kentucky. Uh, how about winning game 1 first. They were not fun at all and happy not to see Shabazz try to hit 1/2 court 3 pointers till next year.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:25 PM
Xavier-Notre Dame and USF-Temple are unwatchable
March 16th, 2012 at 10:25 PM
I think UConn will be better once Lamb and Boatright leave the program
March 16th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
This is a great but bittersweet day in tourney history. I love the outcomes but haven’t been able to watch any of it
March 16th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
they beat everyone’s darling Cal.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:27 PM
Stark, depends where they get it from and from what source**. Have you asked? The walleye caught in Lake Erie this year should be good size and the main rivers (Sandusky, Maumee) are good temp. The overall walleye crop in Lake Erie is down a bit.
**Bag limits vary by origin of license.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:27 PM
The fag Hoyas just beat the shit out of Belmont today. Belmont just doesnt have the big guys
March 16th, 2012 at 10:29 PM
Some big middle fingers coming from the direction of Drexel, Nevada, and Oral Roberts at these shitty teams tonight
March 16th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
Wayne, where you fish out of?
March 16th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
Let’s go Detroit!
March 16th, 2012 at 10:31 PM
Georgetown’s defense is really damn good. This is my favorite Hoyas squad since Bubbachuck was there. They seem like they’ve finally exorcised the ghost of DaJuan Summers
March 16th, 2012 at 10:31 PM
Point 2 of Luke Wynn’s article was spot on in in terms of potential upsets.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
what he said. I’m seriously thinking about creeping one of those UDM jerseys. gotta rep the hometown.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
What a wonderful day. I catch a couple bass, come home and both Meeeeechigan and Duke lose.
Michigan has caught MSU. It’s cleary evident that the gap has been closed.
/Pat Caputo’d
March 16th, 2012 at 10:32 PM
He knew during the recruiting process that Irving was 1 and done and probably Rivers too.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:33 PM
Stark, Otto Porter has a bright future. He was solid against Syracuse
March 16th, 2012 at 10:33 PM
Scripty, our buyers just generically label the fish as from the Great Lakes. I had just kind of assumed they meant Michigan
March 16th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
If UDM beats Kansas, Half the country will be taking a lighter to their brackets and the other half will have their pants around their ankles wanking furiously
March 16th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
Caputo is a joke. you know this.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
TJ, are you glad to welcome Duke to the exclusive club of 2 seeds to lose in the first round?
March 16th, 2012 at 10:37 PM
Where’s todd charske?
March 16th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
I know. The biggest joke is that he always claims that he’s not biased and has no horse in the Michigan and MSU race cause he went to MSU. But he’s such a Michigan fan. And he constantly states he’s not. Michigan is winning a National Championship in the next 4 years. It’s a lock according to that jerk off.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
no one asked for him to be banned…
March 16th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
That graphic about The Jayhawks tourney record under Self has me thing he might be CBB’s answer to Terrelle Pryor. Epic bustliness
March 16th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
Damn…that UDM guard treated the KU guy like a splooge rag
March 16th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
Half of all fish in the Great Lakes are from Lake Erie. It has the fastest current and the most microorganisms. However some of the agreements with Canada over water rights allow them better fishing rights. Walleye are great.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Saginaw Bay mainly. If you’re familiar with the thumb of Michigan, I have quite a bit of family that lives in Caseville. We go out from there. I also live near a river that feeds into the bay, but it’s just downstream from a Dow Chemical plant so we tend to catch and release when fishing there.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
Lake ontario is overrated…at least from Rochester to oswego
March 16th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
USF making Texas’ first half look good.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Ontario is the worst of the Great Lakes. no one denies this.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Yellow Perch vs. Walleye, who ya got?
March 16th, 2012 at 10:45 PM

March 16th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
I’ve never had yellow perch but I’m not much of a perch fan usually. This kid from Detroit is getting a post of his own, isn’t he?
March 16th, 2012 at 10:49 PM
Two nasty dunks from that UDM guy,
/pollock is the worst fish
March 16th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
Steelhead was fun. 2nd time going. We are going up Pulaski, NY in a couple of weeks since the weather is freaking so nice and they will be gone ealier this year. Had a ton of hookups but only could land 1. Friend got 2.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
Pulaski? Nice. About an hour and a half from me
March 16th, 2012 at 10:52 PM
Pollock doesn’t have to be terrible but it’s not usually handled very carefully because it’s fished for quantity. It’s not particularly great anyway, but it should ideally be more boring than terrible
March 16th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
I’ll never understand people who don’t like seafood
March 16th, 2012 at 10:54 PM

March 16th, 2012 at 10:55 PM

March 16th, 2012 at 10:55 PM
Yellow Lake Perch are insanely tasty. Ocean perch are trash.
I’ve caught some steelhead deep in the Erie central basin that were amazing, just so strong and great to catch. But the best for fishing in L.E. is Western Basin by the islands.
Thank goodness that end hasnt been polluted yet by the cleveland end of the lake
Cleveland’s in the middle, btw. Actually, the western basin is where all the farm run-off is creating the gigantic algae blooms. It’s an issue for sure. But once the asian carp get in, everything will be fucked.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:56 PM
Detroit Mercy sounds like the name of a hospital, not a university.
March 16th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
Temple 19, South Florida 15…. At the half. Garbage
March 16th, 2012 at 11:00 PM
Oh yeah, Lake Perch. I’ve had Lake Victoria perch before. That is one fine tasting environmental catastrophe. I’d forgotten all about that one. Ocean perch is what I was denigrating

While the city of Detroit overall is pretty shitty, the area around UofD has some really nice, all brick, 80+ year old, 3000 square foot houses.
March 16th, 2012 at 11:04 PM
I have a friend who won’t eat most seafood because of texture. I don’t get it then again I love sushi so weird textured food doesnt bother me.

Gotcha. It’s an interesting name to be sure.
March 16th, 2012 at 11:07 PM
Never fished for Walleye. Got a NY license for a year this time. Live in northwest CT so I can hit up parts of NY near Amenia which I hear is good also. We are planning on going up to Pulaski for Easter weekend. Fun as hell but makes fishing in ther rivers of CT, except CT River, a little underated now.
March 16th, 2012 at 11:08 PM
When I was younger I also had issues eating freshwater fish with the fear of eating one of the bones. I love seafood. But even to this day fish bones kinda freak me out.
March 16th, 2012 at 11:10 PM
I didn’t ban anyone. If you like analogies: It goes from my lips to God’s ears.
March 16th, 2012 at 11:11 PM

March 16th, 2012 at 11:11 PM
I do like seafood, love some of it, but there’s not many times I can think of where I would choose it over chicken/beef/pork/lamb.

Wayne I just checked on Caseville. When the kids get older we’ve always talked of hitting up that side of MI for a summer vacation. That must be a God’s Country in the summer.

This is golden as well.
I do feel bad for Novak and Douglas.

How odd. I’ve never heard of people having any sort of issue with meat on the bone.
March 16th, 2012 at 11:21 PM
scripty-Might I suggest the west coast of MI as well. Manistee, Ludington, Grand Haven and Traverse City are all pretty sweet summer vacation spots.

Anyone else’s campus have a Kentacohut? There was one right under freshman dorms, right next to the Original Hot Dog Shop (where the drivebys took place).
March 17th, 2012 at 12:11 AM
South Florida 15 pts in the first half and now 41 in the second.
March 17th, 2012 at 12:12 AM
It’s easily the best spot on the east side of Michigan to hang out in. Google “Cheeseburger in Caseville” for a huge fucking good event. You honestly cannot walk thru town there are so many people. Buffet hasn’t made it yet, but all of his top shelf cover bands play every year.

March 17th, 2012 at 12:33 AM
So because you don’t know the college rule (it’s not when it’s released for the guys above the key, it’s when it hits the rim or backboard), it’s their fault they aren’t ripping the refs for the correct call?
March 17th, 2012 at 12:33 AM
Chief- don’t know if you are still around, but tried the Asian slaw recipe you posted a while ago and it’s good. Thanks for sharing.
March 17th, 2012 at 12:36 AM
Good to know, Heel. No idea if Husker ever tried either.
March 17th, 2012 at 12:37 AM
I’m pretty sure after yesterday’s Syracuse debacle, no top seeds, especially the more popular/notorious ones (read: ND, Duke, Michigan) were gonna get any saving calls down the stretch.
March 17th, 2012 at 12:41 AM
Chief- also tried the sour cream/mayo version too with good results. Nice deviation from family favorite of white vinegar, oil, sugar, dry mustard, and onions that friends love.
Living in the south provides lots of opportunities for slaw. Thanks again.
March 17th, 2012 at 12:44 AM
Forgot the essential celery seeds in the family favorite.
You didn’t ask but here’s mine(admittedly on the sweet side):
large head white cabbage
1 large onion
1 large green pepper(less is okay)
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup salad oil
1 cup white vinegar
1 tsp dry mustard powder
1 tsp celery seed
1 tbsp salt
Shred cabbage in large bowl(with pepper and onion)
Shred onion on top of pepper and cabbage
sugar and oil and vinegar- Â heat to a boil to dissolve
Pour over cabbage and green peppers
Fridge at least 4 hours
March 17th, 2012 at 6:37 AM
Norfolk State/Missouri was a bigger upset. Missouri was 2-5 in the rankings since January and won the Big 12 tourney, and MEAC schools never win, except for maybe that other 15-2 upset a decade ago.
Duke lost by a bajillion points at home to UNC in the last game of the season and didn’t get to the ACC finals.
March 17th, 2012 at 9:43 AM
Duke and Notre Dame losing in the same night? On St. Practice day? BEST LE DAY EVER.
/Not so much drinking today for St. Patricks day as I am drinking and celebrating these defeats. Can you feel nostalgic about something that just happened? And yes I am drinking thank you for noticing.

For every Duke fan I have to say: Order is now Restored.
Unless Coach K hits the recruiting trail hard for 2012/2013 this team is in a lot of trouble for the next three to four years.
