Here’s the Dutchess of Cambridge and future Queen of England playing field hockey with the British National Team at the London 2012 Olympic site.

I know nothing of field hockey, though it’s hard to conceive of a more misogynistic sport. Why don’t you girls run around hit each other with mallets and wing hard balls at each other without padding for a little while? And could you wear little skirts while doing it? That’d be great …

I was going to joke about the Today Show getting two segments from this. They were one step ahead of me this morning.

Surprised that someone was worldly as yourself doesn’t recognize that across the world, field hockey is a predominantly male sport.

She’s not of royal blood, so she’s not a princess. She was created the Duchess of Cambridge (and some other lesser titles). She won’t be considered a royal, however, until William becomes King.
