Kansas City Chiefs Sign Peyton Hillis to a 1-Year Deal
Peyton Hillis, a fan favorite way back in 2010, has left Cleveland to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs. Hillis will get a fresh start after signing a 1-year deal with the Chiefs worth $3 million today. I’ll have to double check this with Mr. Lisk, but Hillis has to be one of the greatest one-year wonders in modern NFL history.
In 2010, Hillis rushed for 1177 yards, caught 61 passes for 477 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Those totals dwarf the totals from his other three seasons in the NFL. Last season he battled injuries and averaged 3.6 yards per carry, but the magic was gone and Cleveland was done with the man we lovingly called The Albino Rhino / Predator / Thundercock / Avalanche.

I’m trying to remember if Barry “Cocaine” Word was a one year or two year wonder. I think Mike Anderson’s one good year with the Broncos may qualify. I need Lisk to move some numbers on this.

So why the hell is Peyton not considering KC?

Go Hogs.

Cal just scored 13 points in the first half of the fake tourney game.

Barry Word was definitely a one-year wonder. Christian Okoye was close to a one-year wonder in his own right. John Settle was always one of my favorite for this topic

If last night taught us anything, it’s for everybody to bet all of their money on Cal to cover in the second half. Or maybe the lesson for tonight is that the perceived difference in the quality of the Big East and the Pac-12 (still weird) is pretty close to the real difference between the two.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:09 PM
Okoye had two pro-bowl years separated by an injury year. And then nothing after the second pro-bowl. I don’t think he makes the cut for this discussion. I’m willing to consider arguments against this, but I think Word is a better candidate.
/Bored. Waiting for the tourney tomorrow.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
Yeah, Stark. The Pac 12 is awful. Holy cow. Colorado is in the tournament. Jebus.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
Cal is just embarrassing. They look like they are sleep walking through the game. It might be a play-in game, but those teams should be hungry to win. VCU proved last year that the play-in game isn’t just a throw away.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:14 PM
Cal scored 5 pts in the first half in a game against ND last year. So this is an improvement.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:14 PM
I was thinking of picking Cal against Temple if they won tonight. That’s such a horrible idea that I’m rethinking my entire bracket now.

Oh, and Timmy Smith is the greatest one year wonder ever. Or, make that one game wonder.
204 yds rushing and 58 yds receiving in the 1988 Super Bowl for the Redskins.
He had 470 yards (on 155 carries for a 3.0 ypc) in the regular season in 1988. He also had 132 yards on 35 carries for the rest of his career.
That, my friends, is the Encyclopedia Brittanica definition of a one year wonder.

128 teams!!
/play the payoffs
March 14th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
Cal was 28th in Pomeroy, ahead of Temple and way ahead of South Florida (66).

it’s destiny really….my family’s bracket has South Fla. beating LIU-B in the title game, 89-82
March 14th, 2012 at 10:23 PM
If your family bracket picks a ridiculous title game like this and gets it right just once, it will be a lifetime achievement.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:28 PM
Finally able to get bracket picks done. What a fucking week.

i hope not….the four regions were picked by two 5 yo, a 6yo and an 11yo (mom took care of the ff results)
March 14th, 2012 at 10:33 PM
last year, they had a ff of gonzaga (cuz one liked the letter G), illini (cuz we live in illinois), a play-in (because kids like the word Play) and Temple, because a relative of my stepson goes there. wife picked illini to beat temple 112-68 after asking if illinois was U of I

Oh, kids. I let my six year old to pick a bracket in my office pool ($5.) His Final Four is KU, KSU, Mizzou, and Duke. The teams I routinely curse out during the season. Imprint on his young mind.

I was gone at the time, but TBL reposted a blind item that Mark Sanchez and KU are gay for each other. And Sanchez and that Heros chick was a fraudy choky thing to hide Sanchez’s gayness. Or something like that. I was busy and skimmed the comments.

Something about Notre Dame and college football playoffs.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:39 PM
kc, i have no chance at legitimacy because i have too many kids to watch sports much, so they know about sports, but not schools and only chicago pro teams. my own bracket has mizzou beating michigan. three of the kids had legit teams in regional finals–mizzou, kansas and uk, but all were bested by powerhouses like liu-b and the jackrabbits (one of the ff)
March 14th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
I’m built the same way as John Lucas, but I’m taller. I can’t believe he’s in the NBA.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
Looked like TBL got shredded in the comments from what I saw. I wonder if anyone got banned.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:45 PM
can you get dunked on chicago?
March 14th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
I think I see your point.
March 14th, 2012 at 10:47 PM
But to answer your question, I’m 6′. So yes.

because of the nature of this place, what i mean is, anything happen in the comments section? a banning, a charske-like event, a good story, a russian spencer, etc
March 14th, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Well, you didn’t specify the first time, so not my fault.
March 14th, 2012 at 11:01 PM
well it is your fault because i thought we had a connection. i was wrong and i’ll learn from this and grow stronger

Lebron pushes off with his off hand in his post up game way too much, and it’s never called. It’s really pissing me off.
March 14th, 2012 at 11:06 PM
Seriously, that’s all I assume ever happens here now. Might as well have.

Not that surprised Hillis didn’t fit under Pat Shurmur.
Pat Shurmur is an Andy Reid West Coast offense guy. No need for a battering ram like Hillis.

I was thinking of picking Cal against Temple if they won tonight. That’s such a horrible idea that I’m rethinking my entire bracket now.
Picking against Temple is not a bad idea. Not an overpowering 5. South Florida definitely could make a run in that bracket.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:08 AM
Oh, and Hillis is not a one year wonder. A guy who goes for 1100 yards from scrimmage and 13 TD’s while splitting time with Jamaal Charles is not a one year wonder. I predict that Hillis will be a popular dude in KC, get his head right, and have a much better year. It was never right with the new coaching staff.
March 15th, 2012 at 12:14 AM
lisk, can you compare hillis with alstott?
March 15th, 2012 at 12:23 AM
I actually made the call to go with USF over Temple. By the way, you’ve done an awesome job on your tourney analysis posts so far, Lisk.
/I know I know, lame late night compliments from an internet commenter. GOLD STAR!
March 15th, 2012 at 12:23 AM

Hillis had a Mike Alstott pro bowl season last year.
