Losing Sixth Grade Basketball Coach Attacks Winning Coach, Bites His Ear
Timothy Lee Forbes, an assistant coach for a sixth-grade basketball team in Springfield, MA, faces assault charges after allegedly attacking the winning coach and biting his ear.
From the Hartford Courant:
“The biter,” as police described him, fled before police arrived, but he turned himself in to police shortly before noon Monday. He was charged with mayhem, for biting the ear, assault and battery, and other charges. He was to be arraigned Monday afternoon.
The alleged biter attacked the winning coach after the game and was pulled off after a brief, but violent assault by bystanders, police said. The victim, 34, was rushed to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.
Reminder: The “brief but violent assault” happened at a 6th grade basketball game. [Courant]

I imagine you get immediate cred in the clink if you’re doing time for mayhem.

You’ll be begging for an assistant coach after about five minutes of dealing with 12 ten year olds with the attention spans of a gnat.

stock photo overuse of basketball-net.
Since when does a 6th grade basketball team need an assistant? If your team is 6-8 players, maybe not. If you have a team of +8 players yeah you need one. At least a parent to sit at the end of the bench for injuries, emergencies, oversight, etc. For practices, helps a ton.
/have coached 6th grade basketball.

The judge later reduced the charges to shenanigans, and simply pistol-whipped the bejeesus out of him.
