NCAA Tournament 2012: Midwest Region, Instant Analysis
Top 4 seeds: North Carolina, Kansas, Georgetown, Michigan.
Knee-jerk favorite: UNC in a landslide. It’s not even close, really.
Double-digit seed capable of a run: Belmont (14). Played Duke very close at Cameron Indoor and then played Memphis tough for 35 minutes. I’ll probably take the Bruins in half my brackets.
The committee screwed up: Seton Hall didn’t get into the field. Nor did Iona. Bad calls there by the committee. The Big East deserved 10 teams! Two of the last teams in the field reside in the Midwest: Cal and NC State.
Knee jerk Regional Final guess: UNC vs. Kansas (chalk!)

Georgetown/Belmont are dangerous

The Big East deserved 10 teams!
That is my initial thought as well. I like KU in UNC’s bracket. We’ve had easier and worse, but it is a game to game thing. Play ball!

JMac, the Big East did NOT deserve ten teams. You don’t go 5-10 to end the year and get in (Seton Hall). they only beat ONE good big east team in Georgetown. You can argue that the BE didnt deserve the 9 it got. I watched a ton of games this year and SHU got what it deserved. Teams like Nevada, Drexel, and Oral Roberts were all better than SH, won their conference regular season…they are the biggest snubs. We know you don’t really watch much CBB because if you did, you wouldnt make dumb statements like e BE deserving ten

I’m so confused.

Chief, stop asking JMac to proofread!

Vitale just said he thinks the top teams will be tough to beat. Interesting.

TOUGH TOUGH.

I want Ohio to beat Michigan so bad. It would atone for OSU’s eventual early exit.

Memphis got scrrrrrrrrrrrrewed!

I can’t tell if you’re being facetious or not with the Big Easy conference there or not.
The Big Easy is over-rated and should not have had 10 teams, 7 at best. Did anyone watch the BE conference title game last nite? What a clunker. Looked like 7th grade basketball at best with all the bricks being laid up. Such a sad conference.
March 11th, 2012 at 7:28 PM
Can we please have a Duke-Notre Dame game, so Vitale’s head with explode?
March 11th, 2012 at 7:29 PM
Caribou, its not a sad conference normally. This year was a down year no doubt. Cuse fan here and I watched a ton of games in conference. Only teams that deserve to be in are Cuse, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Cincy, Louisville. marquette, and UConn. Wvu amd USF didnt deserve it.

Assault, i am so glad ESPN doesnt do the tourney games. No dickie v calling games!

I’ll probably take the Bruins in half my brackets.
People that do more than 2 brackets are assholes. You have 1 serious one and one goof-off one for the office prick that wont quit nagging you about joining their pool.
March 11th, 2012 at 7:49 PM
I think this will be the first year in a while that I won’t have OSU in the Final Four in the majority of my brackets when they’ve been at least a 2 seed. No confidence in this team. If Buford goes cold, they be fucked.
March 11th, 2012 at 8:07 PM
Everyone took Belmont last year, and they laid an egg.

How many years in a row now has the committe gifted UNC (and Duke) to be able to start the tournament AT HOME in Greensboro AGAIN?
March 11th, 2012 at 8:28 PM
I really wish I knew a bit more about CBB beyond the B1G and the couple powerhouses I’ve watched this year. Will have to watch the assholes on TV till Lisk gives the laydown.
March 11th, 2012 at 8:31 PM
So did Iona get in or…..
/farts
March 11th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
judging by the Big East POY results, we know WVU didn’t get in based on a lobbying effort from the Conference.

North Avenue…New Ro!!
March 11th, 2012 at 8:52 PM
Thought it was interesting that Kansas got the 2 seed in the St. Louis region. UNC would have a right to complain if they met in the Elite 8
March 11th, 2012 at 9:15 PM
i’ll have my four kids (5, 5, 6, 11) each pick through a region and the wife pick the final four for my goof bracket. last year’s FF was Temple, Illinois, a play-in and can’t remember. Illini beat temple 120-something to 60-something for the title
