While Peyton Manning was flitting around on private jets, interviewing to steal his job, Tim Tebow was Tebowing. Not kneeling in silent prayer, but doing exactly what you would expect Tim Tebow to be doing on a random Friday night during the offseason: surprising a quadriplegic Afghanistan veteran at a fundraiser in Tampa.

Tebow met with U.S. Army Ranger Romy Carmago:

“He’s a real, true-life hero,” said Tebow. “So it’s very special to have the chance to hang out with him…He’s been an inspiration to a lot of people and he’ll continue to be an inspiration to me and so many more, so it’s real exciting to get a chance to meet him.”

The Heisman-winner also had this to say:

“For me, it’s so humbling, to see kids and they’re like, you’re my hero. I do nothing special, athletes do nothing special. We play a silly game,” Tebow said. “But here’s someone who put his life on the line for our country — that’s a real hero.”

Manning may win games himself, and complete well north of 50 percent of his passes, but will he have his own section, blog and commemorative book on the Denver Post website?
